Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted October 24, 2002 Tied 2-2.Good Game Scoscia left Lackey in too long. He pitched 3 innings Sunday. Glaus blew it when he let the ball roll back into fair territory, he should of picked it up when it was in fould terrority or even blown on it.
Guest Brian Report post Posted October 25, 2002 Nice thing Jeff Kent decided to show up for game five. 27 more outs to go!
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted October 25, 2002 Nice pickup by Snow,it was probaby not a good idea to have a 3 year old be out their when it's still an active play. Little Darren Baker is pretty funny they showed him earlier slamming his helmet on the ground after someone on the Giants popped out.
Guest BobbyWhioux Report post Posted October 26, 2002 Wow. Well, what can I say. I'm a Giants fan, like my father before me, and we're both pretty excited right now. [My dad endured the agony of Bobby Richardson in 1962, so part of the reason I'm pulling for the Giants is so that he can finally get to see "our team" get a world series.] Right now, I'm thinking the Giants have the momentum, and with Appier slated to throw game six for the Angels, I say the Giants have a very good chance of taking it in six now. HOWEVER, if they don't take it in six...well, I don't feel too good about game 7 in Anaheim. Remember that The Giants are one of the "cursed" teams of baseball. Sure, theirs is much shorter lived than the infamous "curses" on the Cubs and both Sox teams (and you can throw the Indians in as well) but still, they've got 0 since moving to San Francisco. "Stuff" tends to happen to (or not happen for) the Giants. Maybe [hopefully for me] this year is the exception. So, this one 'taint over yet. As for the little Baker...well...you know, they've always said J.T. has the best hands on the team... As for the MVP race: I think if the Giants win, they'll probably give it to Bonds [with possible consideration for J.T. Snow], and Glaus will likely get it, with his .400 + average in the series and several key home runs, should the Angels win [though I would also give strong consideration to David Eckstein]. It's really sort of hard to pick one guy from either team, because really it's been a solid team effort with different guys every night coming through for both teams in their wins. Really it's been "the better bullpen unit wins" in all the games (though less obvious in the blowouts). So, since they won't split an MVP six ways amongs a bunch of short relieves, look for it to go to Bonds or Glaus (and Glaus might get it even if the Giants win out). Guest Smues Report post Posted October 27, 2002 Holy fuck what a game. Scott Speizo is my god. Bond's hits a homerun, Giants lose, AGAIN. If my math is right that makes the Giants 2-6 in games this post season that Bond's has a homerun. Here's to hoping Bond's hits one tommorow.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted October 27, 2002 This game rocked. Period. GO ANGELS!!!!
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted October 27, 2002 Ouch blowing a 5 run lead with only 8 outs left to win the World Series. Baker pulled the plug to early with Ortiz. At least wait until he gives up a run before pulling him. The Giants Bullpen choked.
Guest Smues Report post Posted October 27, 2002 Go Angels go. Keep the momentum for 9 more innings. Bonds must not get a ring.
Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted October 27, 2002 Game 7 should be fun. Here's hoping the Giants completely fall apart tomorrow after giving up a 5 run lead tonight. I hope the Angels take it, any team that spanks the Yankees in 4 games is alright with me.
Guest Smues Report post Posted October 27, 2002 If the dark lord Barry were to wear this ring, he would cover all the land in a second darkness (the first one being the Yankees 4 titles since 96). The ring must be cast into Anahiem, where the trophy must be forged, the one place Barry can be destroy. It is in man that we must place our hopes, only this fellowship of 9 can defeat Bonds, and keep the ring out of his hands.

Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted October 28, 2002 LMFAO, they are actually hitting the Giant outfielders with their sticks. And why isn't anyone talking?
Guest cartman Report post Posted October 28, 2002 Giants in 7 Anyone BUT bonds MVP From Oct. 15th at 7pm Now I would like to give reasoning behind my Giants in 7 prediction. Anaheim was the big fan favorite underdog team this year, so it's great to have them in the WS but they cant win it all, because THIS is Barry's time. Guest Smues Report post Posted October 28, 2002 Giants record this post season when Bond's doesn't hit a homerun. 8-1. Record when he does. 2-6. Tell me again WHY? The announce crew was trying to tell me Bond's should get the MVP anyway?
Guest Texas Small Arms 09 Report post Posted October 28, 2002 To answer you, it's like the Michael Jordan theory. If Michael plays in a championship game he should get the MVP simply because his name is Michael Jordan. Is it fair? Fuck no but then again life ain't fair
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted October 28, 2002 The Giants are learning something right now...defeat is even worse with your crying kids in the dugout. Joe Buck made a great statement about how for so many years the Angels were in the Dodgers spotlight...now it is their turn to be in the spotlight. Percival's little speech was great too, how they won it for Gary DiSarcina, Chuck Finley, etc...the guys who were there for years and soldiered on...great to see class acts like Salmon, Percival and Glaus get a ring. Troy Glaus is the World Series MVP. Co-MVP's should have been the Thundersticks and the Rally Monkey. Bud got booed. When he was speaking I was wondering if he was about to say "Congratulations to Anaheim, now they will be contracted" but he kept it short. Way to go Anaheim, no one thought you could do it but yourselves...And a great end to a baseball season where it looked like we might have never gotten to see the World Series in August...a thriller right down to the wire. Great win for Anaheim.

Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted October 28, 2002 The entire playoffs were great. Maybe Bud oughta think about learning some names and such before he makes a speech. I'm glad he got booed. Awesome game, great outcome, I win money at work. Aren't we all winners?
Guest JHawk Report post Posted October 28, 2002 The sad thing I pretty had much it pegged that Bonds would be MVP had the Giants won that game. Despite the fact that nothing he did meant anything to the Series. Luckily it didn't come to that (Bonds winning MVP, not necessarily the result of the Series). Guest Bricks Report post Posted October 28, 2002 Damn you Livan Hernandez! First you break my heart by beating Cleveland in '97, now you break it again by losing when I'm cheering for you.
Guest Texas Small Arms 09 Report post Posted October 28, 2002 He blew it for them. He couldn't keep his control. After the first inning his ass should have been on the bench. It's Baker's fault for letting him stay in that long. The Angels did what they had to do and they capitalized on Baker's mistake of leaving Hernandez in too long, hats off to The Angels

In order for Bonds to be effective, he needs runners on. He didn't bat with runners on at all in game 7, that was the difference. I'm glad he didn't get the MVP. The Giants offense was shitty. The could not produce timely hits or string hits together. Lofton got on half the time, Auriella hardly did anything, Kent wasn't even productive til Game 5, without Kent getting on Bonds was a walk 75% of the time, Santiago did shit, JT was iffy, Reggie Sanders was shitty, he was a sure out pretty much every time he stepped up, Bell had a great series problem was not many people where on base when he hit the ball so he was screwed and the pitch hitters blew. Sanders replacement sucked like hell. I played ball for nine years and the first thing they teach you is when you swing your back foot is to stay planted and not move much. This fool swung and spun himself around every at bat. The Angels executed everything perfectly and I didn't want them to win, however, I can't say they didn't earn it. They played like they wanted it and they were aggressive. They played a hell of a series.
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted October 28, 2002 Once again: If you want to win a World Series, you DO NOT have Jay Witasick on your roster! Where else can he be exiled to? I say Hell.
