Guest RobJohnstone Report post Posted October 16, 2002 Did anyone see the monday night game after he scored he got a pen out of his sock and autographed a ball, and gave it to shawn springs financial advisor. I'm sorry, you have to be the man the do that. He even told the guy he would do it before the game. Thoughts? --Rob
Guest Leena Report post Posted October 16, 2002 No, he's not the man for doing that, he's a jackass. I think it would have been funny as hell if he got drilled, and the pen broke and got jammed in his ankle.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 16, 2002 hell Emmit Smith wore 3 diff pair of shoes just to sell them as momentos of the season he beat the record. it was his home field and there should be no excuse as to why the equipment manager did not know which shoe works best on the new fake grass field. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted October 16, 2002 Well someone is taking this a bit too serious. Calm down people it's only a game. It's not like he was signing a ball and giving it to hostile fans of the home team. He was doing it for a friend and business partner, so it's not some big fucking deal. people = addressing the others who will overreact to this
Guest imajackoff? Report post Posted October 16, 2002 I think Terrell Owens is a complete ass, but I thought the thing he did on Monday night was original and pretty funny.
Guest Leena Report post Posted October 16, 2002 I think it's stupid because his taunting and "showmanship" have gone too far. I'll admit I did giggle when I first saw it, but if I was Springs, I would have drilled him like Teague did.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 16, 2002 I thought it was funny. But I didnt know he had talked with the guy before and agreed to do it if he scored. I thought he just gave it to some random Seahawks fan in those field luxury suites, which would have made it even funnier because you know that person wouldnt throw an autographed on MNF Terrell Owens game used football back, and I was expecting it to show up on Ebay sometime today before I heard the whole story. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted October 16, 2002 It's no different then doing a dance after a TD. It's only a game I don't get why so many expect them to behave like business men.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted October 16, 2002 It's no different then doing a dance after a TD. True, but DAMN it was original.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted October 16, 2002 Oh yeah it was...that's not what i was referring to. Shit like this is why i personally like Terrel Owens. He brings individuality to a NFL that tries to make everyone identical. That's also why he gets a bad rap and why so many dislike him. If i was Jesse Jackson or into discussing the subject, that could be considered a form of hidden racism. However i'm not Jesse Jackson and I don't like getting into race discussions so i won't bother with it.
Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted October 16, 2002 From what I read and heard, IMO its not a big deal. Football players do this all the time, after they score a touchdown they give the ball to a fan or a family member so NO BIG DEAL. I kinda like the idea myself giving to his signing the ball to his advisor and Springs said he was cool with that since both share the same advisor. It would be different if T.O. signed the ball and gave to a sick kid wouldn't it?
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2002 I thought what Owens did was pretty cool. At least it was original and creative, which was what Owens was shooting for the whole time. Too bad some people have to whine and cry about it without understanding why he actually did it. The way I see it is like this: This whole thing has been blown way out of proportion by the Seahawks players/coaches who commented on it they have no fucking clue, the NFL, the media, and some of you. All he does is sign a football, give it to a friend, and then everybody starts whining about it as if he were actually taunting. Give me a fucking break all he did was sign a damn football and give it to a friend, where is the harm in that? Some people need to lighten up.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted October 16, 2002 Until we do what George Carlin says, football celebrations haven't been taken far enough. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest DrTom Report post Posted October 16, 2002 I liked what Owens did. It's a breath of fresh air for the No Fun League. I get more annoyed by guys running up and down the field, aping for the camera after making a routine fucking tackle. If you score a touchdown in a big game, you should bloody well celebrate it. If the other team doesn't like it, they should stop you the next time, and grow a thicker skin until they can. I find it amusing that someone who makes $6 million per year can have his ego damaged by someone dancing on the field in front of him. What a ridiculous concept. Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted October 16, 2002 Hey, it was original. In my mind, since Shawn Springs had no problem with it, and TO told the guy he was going to give him an autographed football, I see no problem. Springs was the guy who got burned on the play and he had no problem with it. The reaction has more to do with the media's view of Terrell than what actually happened...everybody remembers the Dallas star incident and automatically assumes Terrell is showing off...well ok he is, and he could choose a...less publicized moment to sign the ball and give it to the guy. I really have no problem with TD celebrations - after all, there can be no dance without the actual play, which is a superb feat of athletics to score a TD. The dude's happy. Let him celebrate a little.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted October 16, 2002 However, if he dares do the Dallas star thing with the G in Green Bay, I would strongly endorse the living piss being beaten out of him. As if San Francisco would ever have reason to celebrate in Green Bay, but you get the idea. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest cartman Report post Posted October 16, 2002 I think he's just another Deion Sanders looking for attention in any way. However I thought it was pretty foul how some Radio talk show hosts yesterday were calling for him to be Lynch Mobbed by the Seattle Defense.

Guest franchise632 Report post Posted October 16, 2002 You know you have made it as a great football player when the only thing that people can say about you is that you celebrate to much or celebrate in bad taste. We live in a culture where we dont excentuate the many positives, only the negitives. Which is why the public as a whole are jack asses. People are smart, the "public" is not. In the words of legendary comedian Bill Hicks: "People suck, and thats my conntention.... we're a virus with shoes" As for the star thing, being a Dallas fan, I wasnt happy, the first time, but hey, the second time was too much, but Teague did what he should of done. And that was that. If Deion did that twice in Wash or Green Bay, Im sure that Greene or Butler would have laid him out too. Bottom line, let the guys have fun and celebrate, WHEN THEY DO SOMETHING MEANINGFUL. Have some fun, watch the game, if you don't like it change the channel. Im sure there is a good cooking show or infomercial on TV to enjoy.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted October 16, 2002 If someone on the opposing team has a problem with someone celebrating than don't let them score a TD.
Guest Smark Hammill Report post Posted October 16, 2002 It's not that big a deal. It's the politically correct thing to dog Owens on this, and that's why I like it. I didn't give it a second thought until I saw all the media talking heads doing the PC/easy thing, and dog a guy like Terrell Owens. I hate the media anyway, and this gives me another reason to. Guest Smark Hammill Report post Posted October 16, 2002 Did anyone see Sean Salisbury on Sportscenter last night, talking to Terrell Owens. He was trying to sound and look disgusted, et al. What a joke! Dude, Sean, it's not that big a deal, and if you're honest with yourself, the only reason you act all disgusted is because that's the popular thing to do in the media with this "incident." No, that's what people who don't follow football think about Owens. The problem is when Owens does these antics to get attention, it puts himself over the game, and over his team. Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted October 16, 2002 Terrell Owens is a punk. If he was just doing it to be original and funny I would not have as big of a deal with it but instead he is just doing it so he can get on sportscenter. Does anyone remember anything else about that game now? If I am a 49er I am going to get very tired of playing hard fought games making great plays then being completely forgotten cause TO wants to be on TV. Catch a game winning touchdown in the Super Bowl you can celebrate however you want, catch a game winning touchdown in Week 6 against the lowly Seahawks and you don't really have much to celebrate about you did what you were supposed to nothing more nothing less. TO is a good player and a top reciever in the league, he don't have to do his "antics" to get on sportscenter and sometimes he's a whiner but he doesn't give up on a play. Its funny some you guys get bent out shape over this, and like I said before football players give footballs away all the time to fans, friends and family members so whats so different about this "incident" because he gave a autograph to his friend than some sick kid or something. Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2002 If he was just doing it to be original and funny I would not have as big of a deal with it but instead he is just doing it so he can get on sportscenter. Then you shouldn't have a problem with it whatsoever. Owens was doing it to be original and creative, and to have some fun. Even if he hadn't done what he did, he would have still gotten on SportsCenter regardless. This little piece said by Niners center Jeremy Newberry says it best.. "It's really getting blown out of proportion,'' center Jeremy Newberry said. "It's ridiculous. I don't think he offended anybody. Any time T.O. does something, the media wants to make a bigger deal about it than it deserves. " "He didn't sign the ball and give it to Shawn Springs. I don't think anybody in this locker room sees anything wrong with it.''
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted October 16, 2002 Why would the 49ers care what Owens does has long as the team wins. Like I said earlier if Seattle's defense would of done their jobs Owens couldn't of done this.

Dude, Sean, it's not that big a deal, and if you're honest with yourself, the only reason you act all disgusted is because that's the popular thing to do in the media with this "incident." Since Salisbury actually played in the NFL for some time, you have to respect his opinion. In fact the one question he asked that Owens didnt answer was plain and simple: "Was this about YOU, or about the team?". Salisbury was taught to respect the people you played with and competed against. That's not a bad thing.
