I watched TNA for the first time tonight ...

Wow. I was in awe of the unabashed shittiness of tonight's PPV. I mean, yes the WWE is awful right now (especially RAW) but at least they can put on **** matches when they get their shit together. This was crappy, and not in that funny "so bad it's good" kinda way. Just plain boring. Some points:

-Not impressed in the least by Sonny Siaki, on the mic or in the ring.

-Did Jerry Lynn just forget that his knee was injured when running to the ring?

-Is it just me, or did they record the first Siaki-Lynn pull-apart and then show it again after the Elvis' match? I mean, it even had Don Harris walking Siaki up the rampway again!

-Did X-Pac say he was all about wrestling? Yeah all those 30 minute, psychology laden matches with Shane McMahon really cemented his reputation as a technical wizard.

-Where the hell is Lo-Ki?!

-If you're going to show the same chick after every match, be sure she has more than one dance move. That wiggle the ass thing was cute the first time I saw it, but by the end I wanted to hurl a brick at the poor man's Stacy Kiebler.

-Jarret is completely wasted in meaningless comedy matches, and wasn't he feuding with Lawler over something?

-God, Road Dogg is fat and old. Looks like the guy you buy your pot from.

-Where are these mysterious good X-Division matches I keep hearing about? All I saw was a boring stall-fest with two spots thrown in I can see done better twice a week for free.

-Do they need a pull-apart in EVERY GODDAM MATCH?

-Is Mr. Wrestling III supposed to gain support from the pro-KKK crowd? Could they at least make his outfit blue or something?

-Two non-finishes in the double main event is WRESTLING!

I'll keep my ten bucks next week.

Great then.

Enjoy No Mercy for 35 dollars.

I'm sure Brock/Taker 2 and Kane/HHH will be a hoot.

Missed my first NWATNA show this week, and even though I probably left it a week late, it still sounds like I made a good call.

Oh and the WWE putting on a shite product is no excuse for NWATNA doing the same thing (and charging for it!).

From the NWATNA site -

'We've been seeing some "I'd Rather Be At TNA" signs showing up on Monday night the last couple of weeks. I'm guessing a lot of people in the crowd felt that way this past Monday night!'

I wonder how many, after forking out ten dollars, felt like singing NWATNAs praises last night!

No point knocking other companies when your own hasn't put on a decent show in weeks.

TNA was alot more interesting before Russo showed up. I liked all of the storylines besides the Johnsons. Now I don't even care anymore. You should still support TNA though, if for no other reason than to help keep alive the only viable #2 promotion in the USA.

Supporting one poor product because you don't like another poor product makes very little sense to me.

Wasn't it the Jarrett's that came up with the Dupp Cup ? Russo isn't always as responsible as he may seem for some of the muck coming out of NWATNA.

I'm not buying No Mercy, and if TNA us supposed to be my "alternative," then I guess I'll have to stick to my tape collection for entertainment.

It wasn't a good show, but to be fair, it was way below TNA's usual standards, and not all of it was their fault.

-Is it just me, or did they record the first Siaki-Lynn pull-apart and then show it again after the Elvis' match?

No, they actually did the exact same thing twice.

-Where the hell is Lo-Ki?!

Touring with Zero-One in Japan.

-If you're going to show the same chick after every match, be sure she has more than one dance move. That wiggle the ass thing was cute the first time I saw it, but by the end I wanted to hurl a brick at the poor man's Stacy Kiebler.

1. They're supposed to have two, but the other girl no-showed.

2. Don't be dissing da Lollipop Girl, foo.

-Where are these mysterious good X-Division matches I keep hearing about? All I saw was a boring stall-fest with two spots thrown in I can see done better twice a week for free.

They exist, they just didn't occur last night. The absence of Red, Low-Ki, Kid Kash, Jimmy Yang, and the SATs (plus Jerry Lynn not wrestling) hurt them more than a bit there.

-Do they need a pull-apart in EVERY GODDAM MATCH?

You certainly have a point there, it is getting old.

-Is Mr. Wrestling III supposed to gain support from the pro-KKK crowd?

Yeah, cuz we're all a bunch of dumb crackers down here in Nashville and we hates da colored man. Sigh. Could that maybe be construed as a racist statement?

Well in defense of TNA, it's been very good. I had ordered every show with the exception of week 9 when I was on a trip (sounded like a weak show anyway), before deciding not to order last week's or this week's show. They've put out a good product before, but the reliance on washed up WWE midcard rejects like Syxx, Hennig, Lawler and James is hurting the product, rather than focusing the shows on the X-division guys like they used to. Also Russo is no good. I'm not citing any specific wrongs like Miss Bruce or whatever, the overall flow of the show used to be, long flowing matches with good workers and slow build stoylines and good finishes. They've been going deeper and deeper into the trend of spotty matches with DQ, screwjob, SWERVE endings and confusing storylines that reek of Russo in WCW circa 2000. TNA can still work though, but they need to get back to what made them popular to begin with, and sadly I don't see them doing that as long as Russo is there. Anyway, to the guy who wants to give up on TNA completely, don't. I'm now deciding on ordering the shows on a case by case basis. The last 2 sounded from the previews and were highly mediocre, so I saved my money, but I know what they're capable of, and if next week's show seems promising I'll give it a buy. To bps, you have to understand that you can't just compare WWE's 35 dollar PPVs to TNA's 10 dollars. Certainly, ordering 4 TNA shows is a much better value than a one WWE show, but for the many of us who don't even bother with WWE PPVS, we realize we have 4+ hours of FREE wrestling on TV, that although hasn't been great, has still produced some gem matches lately and has overall offered something enjoyable. So in closing, TNA needs a TV deal desperately. They can't survive on this PPV format.

That has nothing to do with anything. The WWE sucking lately doesn't make the fact NWA/TNA suck any better/worse.

What i saw yesterday was a very entertaining Styles/X-pac match, some decent wrestling on the undercards and a lot of reliance on washed-up WWE'ers and green workers.

If you don't see that, bless you because you can enjoy that product for the $10 a week it costs.

I didn't. I've liked some of their shows. Specifically the earlier ones, pre-Russo. Last two have been super-lame though.

TNA is not overly impressive. Their heavyweights pretty much suck and are going on name power along, they seemed to finsh most of their main events with run ins that don't further storylines any.

I only order one every few weeks and get the rest from tape traders.

I don't think that was his point. The fact they have a guy dressed in all-white, attacking a black guy, is obviously supposed to draw KKK comparisons (guess who booked this?). Also, how often in pro-wrestling do you see run-in beatdowns on heels? Is this guy supposed to be a face then? The blatant race-baiting is painfully obvious, even more so considering the track record.

Just thought I'd point out how enormously subjective this statement really is.

Ummm...We just started getting TNA here in my area. and i saw it for the first time this week. Honestly........i wasnt impressed one bit. The production of the show was just so poor. The crowd is so tiny and the lighting is terrible. some positives though...... Ron Killings is very entertaining on the mic and in the ring, and AJ Styles is awesome........anybody else, get the feeling that Sonny Siaki is attempting to be the NWA version of The Rock....I mean cmon man, the constant references to himself in the third person. His body language. His looks. Next time you see the guy pay close attention and you'll see he's the poor man's Rock. BG JAMES must have put on a good 30-40 pounds and looks terrible. I think they should center around Jarrett, Killings, LAwler, Styles, and Lynn....the problem is TNA doesnt have any contenders for the world title. I hope it works out for them though cause it's good to have an alternative

How does that post NOT refer to the first one?

The first post said that the WWE could put on good matches...and the next one said go enjoy those great ones lined up for over 3 times as much $. Furthermore...The WWE had to stop using pyro altogether so we can't see how small the crowd is now.

Not to mention that the post condemns TNA in its entirety after only one show! If people had only ever watched No Way Out or King of the Ring...no one would ever watch wrestling.

Er....well...yeah...every opinion on here is subjective - judging by the ratings, for instance, quite a lot of people seemed to enjoy that horrible Raw on Monday.

As always, I'm only speaking for myself.

For the record, I'm not ordering No Mercy, and I don't think the WWE has been entertaining of late. At least RAW has not been. But every week on Smackdown I see at least one good to great match for absolutely free, which is more than can be said for the TNA event I paid for. Admittedly, it isn't fair to judge TNA on one show, but, when you're asking people to sheel out 10 bucks a week to watch, you better damn well give them a reason to come back. I was honestly more frustrated and bored by TNA than I was with RAW, which is sad, sad, sad.
