Guest Anglesault Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 And rey beat him a month later. Angle has returned just about every job he's given up.
Guest chirs3 Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 I'm not denying that Angle made Rey look good in the actual match, but during interviews, he would call Rey a midget and say how Rey isn't in Angle's league, ect. ect. That isn't exactly building your opponent great. He made Rey look good, or rather Rey was booked to look good, in more than just the match. For every insult Angle threw at Rey, Rey would surprise Angle from behind, super-flashy-move, Angle's busted open and Rey wins tonight's battle! Angle talked big, but was then made to look like he COULD be beaten by Rey, leading up to SummerSlam. And in that match, it did look like Rey could've won a few times. Angle's insults were hurricanrana'd back in his face, so Rey didn't look bad from them at all.
Guest CanadianChick Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 I KNOW! I'm just trying to give examples of everyone putting down people in interviews and promos. It isn't just Edge and teh "usual suspects"
Guest chirs3 Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 I KNOW! I'm just trying to give examples of everyone putting down people in interviews and promos But that's not the problem. People can insult each other all they want in promos. But when someone insults you, says they can beat you, looks to be on top every show leading to the PPV, then beats you at the PPV, that's a little bit different.
Guest CanadianChick Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 But the thing is that Edge wins a blowoff of the feud, but doesn't get elevated to a higher status. So, it is kind of a no-win situation for all parties.
Guest chirs3 Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 But the thing is that Edge wins a blowoff of the feud, but doesn't get elevated to a higher status. So, it is kind of a no-win situation for all parties. And that's what confuses me. I actually like Edge - I always thought he was the better and more entertaining half of E&C, and he can on occasion be funny. But the feud with Angle, the feud with Regal, the feud with Eddie - after each one of those, he comes out the same old Edge. How and why the hell is that happening? Has Edge become as over as he'll ever be? Any other ideas?
Guest CanadianChick Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 I hope not, I really want him to contnue to progress and be in the main event soon. The writers always put Edge over people he faces, but never elevate him. I think that it will happen soon though...after all, who else is Brock going to face?
Guest Anglesault Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 I'm telling you, it's the fucking character. If he would actually be portrayed as climbing the ladder instead of going beneath himself when facing Angle, he WILL climb the ladder.
Guest chirs3 Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 I hope not, I really want him to contnue to progress and be in the main event soon. The writers always put Edge over people he faces, but never elevate him. I think that it will happen soon though...after all, who else is Brock going to face? ANGLE! But that's taking us back to where we started, or somewhere close. I wouldn't mind a Brock/Edge feud. But for something like that to work, they need to drop this crap with the champion fighting and selling for friggin' Chuck Palumbo in the hour 1 main event. If Edge is gonna feud with Brock for the title, I think he needs to feud with MONSTER BROCK~! The guy who KO'd opponents to win matches, a guy who doesn't sell a dropkick from Matt Hardy like a gunshot, a guy who people will see and think "Oh man, Edge is SCREWED", so if Edge does win, it's an actual payoff. Edit: As noted above, a little character tweaking for Edge might help too. I think he could stay almost the same as he is now, except stop the name calling and childish insults. Regular insults would be fine.
Guest CanadianChick Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Maybe they will build him like that against Brock. After all, Brock is being pushed as a monster and I guess Edge will be viewed as the underdog.
Guest chirs3 Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 After all, Brock is being pushed as a monster and I guess Edge will be viewed as the underdog. Brock is being pushed a monster? He WAS being pushed as a monster. But like I said, nowadays he's getting his offense no-sold by Taker, he's fighting Chuck Palumbo and Hardcore Holly and actually making them look like they have a chance... That's not a monster.
Guest CanadianChick Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Well thats true...I guess I'm assuming he'll be pushed as a monster again after facing the Taker.
Guest chirs3 Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Let's hope so. It's not like it would be too hard, either. Bring back the KO endings, have him go through a series of guys like they were nothing. Then feed him Edge, make it look like "Oh, just another Lesnar squash", then have Edge put up a damn good underdog fight leading to a screwy ending, and build to the PPV.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 I hope Vince is so infuriated by the horrible buyrate and attendence for No mercy that he ends the Lesnar Experiment.
Guest CanadianChick Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Its so simple, and effective. That would be a perfect build. Hopefully WWE will see that.
Guest CanadianChick Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 On the subject of ticketmaster, 9 seats in Section 108, Row 7 where available. Sad very sad
Guest Anglesault Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Gotta Love it. They don't deserve a good showing. And since I'm pretty sure I know who will get the blame, it makes it even better.
Guest CanadianChick Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 You think that Borck will get blamed? I'm hoiping that Taker will.
Guest chirs3 Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Well, it's gotta be someone from the group of: Triple H The Undertaker Kane Brock So really, it's a win/win/win/win situation.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 You think that Borck will get blamed? I'm hoiping that Taker will. Well, it will either be HHH, Vince's almost Son in Law, The Loyaltaker, a Guy that vince apparently likes, because he's still here after 5 years despite having no talent, and the new guy. Do the math. I'm not saying this show is all Brock's fault, but if he gets punished for it, I won't complain.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Jericho is also an option, but let's hope not.
Guest chirs3 Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Hah - I'd love to hear them try and pin this one on Jericho.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Vince Storms into an office with HHH and taker. Vince: God damnit! We got a .4 buyrate for that show! We had 6,000 people attend! Someone must be punished! Hunter, during your match, 4,000 of the people walked out of the building. Taker, the remaining 2,000 were chanting "Worst match ever" for your Hell in a Cell. I've decided to punish... HHH: Jericho-uh! Vince: What the hell? Jericho jobbed in the opening match! HHH: And his mere presense-uh caused the fans to be bored-uh! Right Mark? Taker: Sure, Why the hell not? Vince: Okay, Jericho it is!
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 I don't get the big deal with Christian anyway, the guy is the new master of the chinlock in the TV match.

Why, he made the crowd run out of energy...punish him!
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Brock will have to shoulder some blame. I won't get into whether or not he deserves it (I don't think he does, personally...but the person in charge of A: Pushing him without his being over or ready, and B: Making sure that push failed by programming him with the worst wrestler ever) He may be champion for a while to come...but with the business falling apart while he holds that belt...he will be buried like a motherfucker at the first available time.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 but with the business falling apart while he holds that belt...he will be buried like a motherfucker at the first available time. Something to strive for.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 He can make more history. Not only will he be the youngest WWE champion ever.... but he'll have not deserved size of his push...AND not deserved the size of his depush
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 Vince Storms into an office with HHH and taker. Vince: God damnit! We got a .4 buyrate for that show! HHH: And his mere presense-uh caused the fans to be bored-uh! Right Mark? Taker: Sure, Why the hell not? Vince: Okay, Jericho it is! What the hell? Of course it's Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit that are to blame. I mean, those guys can't pop a buyrate unless they have a RING GENERAL like Hunter or Taker to lead them. God knows the crowd wouldn't want to see them together in the same ring. That's like... Doubly bad. My plan for WWE revival: 1. Retire the Undertaker 2. Send HHH to OVW 3. Re-form the Edge & Christian tag team. 4. Push RVD, Booker T, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Eddy Guererro, Matt Hardy, and Rey Misterio. Think it'll revive business?
Guest Kinetic Posted October 19, 2002 Report Posted October 19, 2002 No. Nothing gets fixed until Stephanie is demoted to a staff writer--if that--and the whole booking committee is disposed of and replaced by competent people who actually know how to build and blowoff storylines. Pushing a bunch of great wrestlers won't mean anything if the casual fans aren't given any real reason to care about them.
