Guest Brian Report post Posted October 21, 2002 But he's not going to trade strikes with Lewis. And knowing Vince, he'll probably augment the rules to favor wrestling more.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted October 21, 2002 Another factor in this situation, if they go through with it, are the rules. If they only let them stand up with no submissions, even Kurt Angle would be in trouble with a guy like Moorer. If they allow takedowns and no submissions, then Lesnar and Angle had better start training now cause the only way they'd win is to ground and pound. And yes, there is a legitimacy problem because Vince McMahon would be promoting it. In the mainstream, Vince is seen as even below Don King and even if the fight was a shoot, a lot of people would be hard to convince it is real. The whole idea is a calculated risk and a fairly good one. Lesnar really isn't drawing right now so if he did lose to Lewis, it wouldn't be so horrendous. They'd just take the title away from him and he'd be Bart Gunn version 2. But if Lesnar wins, he'd be a mainstream star overnight even with the skeptics out there. Again, a good calculated risk, but they'd better allow at least takedowns because Lesnar will get creamed standing.

Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted October 21, 2002 Training with the Gracies. Where are you coming from?
Guest Brian Report post Posted October 21, 2002 That's what Angle and Brock need is some hardcore training with the Gracies.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted October 21, 2002 That would help tremendously IF they are going to allow takedowns and/or submissions. One of the fundamentals of Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu is to take the fight to the ground and that is what the Gracie's would teach them- How to fight on the ground. There isn't enough time for Lesnar and Angle to train standing so training with the Gracie's or other ground fighting experts would be of tremendous benefit. Guest Brian Report post Posted October 21, 2002 Yeah, if they learn how to fight on the ground they'll have the fight easily with takedowns. Fighting standing is nothing because the threat should be in the fact that they can get the takedowns and the boxers can't defend them.
Guest subliminal_animal Report post Posted October 21, 2002 If Brock beat Lewis, you're overlooking the biggest upside of all. The fight would be, what, a minute? Then when Brock squashes someone like D'Von the next week in around three, they can say D'Von is tougher than Lewis. And with the non-title squash Brock's fed, soon you'll have a whole roster tougher than boxing's heavyweight champion! But really, this is all tremendously retarded. I don't give a shit about shoot fighting. If Angle couldn't Mirko Pro-Choice or some other guy ... fine. He's a pro wrestler now, and it doesn't matter who can beat up who. You're running a pro wrestling show, you have the guys pro wrestle. You run a shootfight promotion, you have those guys shootfight. This shit is a bunch of shitting-shit nonsense (shit). And isn't Michael Moorer the guy who once broke down and started crying during a match? One more weird thought ... if Moorer was up against Angle, I just have this feeling his trainers would try to teach him ways to avoid/counter the Anklelock like retards. Guest Redhawk Report post Posted October 21, 2002 And isn't Michael Moorer the guy who once broke down and started crying during a match? No, that was Oliver McCall...who by the way, knocked out Lennox Lewis once. It was during the McCall-Lewis rematch that Oliver had a mental breakdown in the ring and started crying.
