Guest the 1inch punch Report post Posted October 22, 2002 These two have come LIGHT YEARS in their commentating skills, and without a doubt have surpassed Lawler and Ross at this point. They explained character motivations, how Benoit's throat-cut and snot rockets signal that he's going upstairs...Tazz and Cole had all the nuances down perfectly, and that helped the match a LOT. Definitely, so of course JR wants to destroy it by moving to Smackdown
Guest The Hamburglar Report post Posted October 22, 2002 Eh, Eddy's better at in-ring psychology and at telling a story then Angle could ever be and one thing that annoys me about Angle(that RickyChoysu touched on a while back) is how he rarely builds anything up, especially his own finisher. While Benoit/Angle was pretty damn good, none of the psychology really went anywhere while Edge/Eddy had both awesome storytelling and great psychology to boot. Oh my God... you guys kill me. Everyone who had October - November 2002 in the "Smarks turn on Angle" pool, get your tickets ready. Actually, there was a massive Angle backlash around Unforgiven 2001 all the way to around the Rumble, I remember it well. People bashed Angle as a face, and then when he was slightly hurt by a nonsensical heel turn it was proclaimed that he had no heat. Load of bollocks obviously, but it certainly soured me on Internet bandwagons. As for the tag match...just awesome stuff. Here's how well it worked for me on one level...when the tag title tournament was first announced I figured it was a necessary way of using a Smackdown tag division but aside from the opportunity for some cool matches, it didn't mean that much in the great scheme of things. At the end of that match, all changed. I really cared about those titles. They mean something now. It wasn't just the great wrestling too. Check out the look on Edge's face at the end, he looks utterly distraught and upset about his loss. Rey, too. Just awesome stuff.

Brian pretty laid out what I was saying, so I don't feel the need to repeat it. On a sidenote: How actually discussing(what an idea...) and backing up what you say instead of jumping and doing the old and tired "typical smark" routine, eh? Guest Brian Report post Posted October 22, 2002 "For all accounts...HBK-HHH still is most standout match...but from a wrestling aspect...only a rematch can top this..." Eddie/Benoit, Chavo/Benoit, Eddie/Angle. The second two might not, but the first probably would. Knoble/Mysterio, IMO, could if given the time of the tag.
