Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted October 22, 2002 I second "Debaser," "Come Together," "Airbag," and "Straight Outta Compton"...but here are five of my personal favorites. "Waiting Room," Fugazi, 13 Songs "Back in the USSR," The Beatles, (s/t) "Wouldn't It Be Nice," The Beach Boys, Pet Sounds "Sunday, Bloody Sunday," U2, War. And, of course, perhaps my number one: "Let's Go Crazy", Prince, Purple Rain (Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to today to celebrate this thing called life...heh heh heh...) Side thought: I was having a discussion with a friend of mine the other night about a similar topic--what band/artist opens their albums the best, period? Citing the evidence of "Where the Streets Have No Name," "Sunday Bloody Sunday," "I Will Follow," "Zoo Station," and "Discotheque," among others, I went with U2, while he pulled out "Come Together," "Back In The USSR," and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" to pitch for the Beatles.

(1)" - The Wall Beyond The Embrace - "Bastard Screams" - Against The Elements

Guest Incandenza Report post Posted October 23, 2002 you're still ahead, i have a feeling most people didn't get it at all. My first thought was "Hey, that's a Radiohead song. And it closed the album!" By the time I got around to proccessing the Exile in Guyville reference, the gag dawned on me and I laughed.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted October 23, 2002 Black Sabbath-Black Sabbath (s/t) It invented heavy metal. Angel of Death-Slayer (Reign in Blood) Hell Awaits (live)-Slayer (Decade of Aggression) A great slow build into a riff that's tougher than hell, then speeds up to ludicrous speeds. Atom Heart Mother-Pink Floyd (AHM) Can't go wrong with starting out with an insanely long concept album classic that doesn't get boring. One of These Days-Pink Floyd (Meddle)-A total contrast from Echoes, which just goes to show how awesome that album is, since it all fits together masterfully.
