Guest bcu1979 Report post Posted October 23, 2002 What a slap in the face to Benoit, Angle, Edge, Rey and the Guerreros and all their tremendous work the last few months. These guys bust their ass each week to put on great matches and actually make Smackdown a watchable show. They get rewarded by getting passed over for a main event slot by some worthless, heatless fatass who doesn't even have the discipline or respect for the business to lose some weight. Regardless of all the over-the-top Edge hate going on around here, I can't believe anyone would think Big Show deserved a title shot more. There's no reason they couldn't have done some angle where Lesnar attacked Taker only for Edge to make the save. Taker could then give Edge the rub before taking a break. Just being in a PPV main event would have been a huge step for Edge and the house show reports for Edge/Lesnar were very positive. So much for promoting from within. Rock and Hogan leave, so instead of elevating new talent - they bring Taker over from RAW. Now Taker leaves, and they decide to push Big Show over Edge, Angle, or Benoit. I would not be surprised if there are reports soon that SD morale is as low RAW morale. And I figured as soon as Matt Hardy started getting over, that he was going to get squashed by some stale HOSS like Rikishi This is complete bullshit. Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted October 23, 2002 At the least, there looks to be a few good matches. But, this is bullshit. Fuck Taker giving Big Show a rub before taking time off. He should have just disappeared off TV after losing to Lesnar, thus, giving Lesnar the ultimate Rub. Damnit! I was only kidding in the other tread where I typed "OMFG! Big Show Vs Lesnar is gonna headline Survivor Series!" I never thought they would even think about going here. And Why the Hell is Matt Hardy getting depushed and jobbed out to Rikishi when he's been one of the most entertaining "heels" in the Company the last few weeks? Ugh, the way things are going. Big Show will job out to Lesnar next week, and Lesnar Vs Rikiski will Headline Survivor Series. I hope Angle, Benoit, Edge, Rey, Eddie & Chavo are all getting paid well, and getting bonus'
Guest Goodear Report post Posted October 23, 2002 The real problem with this whole Big Show thing isn't that the match will suck (and it will, although Brock will get some pops by tossing Show around), and not that Show's leapfrogging better workers (and he is, bastard). The real problem is that WWE is again making the mistake of taking a midcarder and making him a main eventer based soley on him coming out one day and saying, "Hey, I should be a main eventer." The did the same thing with Kane, and he all know how well that's working out. Instead of actually building Show up a bit and making him actually look like a threat, WWE jobs him to Jeff Hardy one day and kill Undertaker the next. It's stupid booking. The Matt Hardy thing I had less of a problem with once I figured out that Rikishi is the number 3 face on the show now that Taker is out! You can't put him against Rey and Edge right now, so WWE is doing the next best thing. I find no fault there.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted October 23, 2002 They're probably using Big Show because they don't want to feed Edge to him (yet, anyway), Angle & Benoit are SD tag champs (and still heels), and Eddy is still heel. The only other top face left would be Rey, and I don't think they could make a Rey/Brock matchup look credible w/out making Brock look incredibly weak. Guest BaldFish Report post Posted October 23, 2002 I dunno. Show looked overweight, but not slow in his match against Jamal/Rosey/Rico. I pegged that as the best match on the card on Monday at **.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted October 23, 2002 In a way I'm glad that the're trying not to bury the succesful guys like Angle, Benoit, Edge (although they will eventually). But still, this may be even worse than Bubba Dudley, Main Eventer. It's been established that Show is a worthless piece of crap, and to make matters worse, he's also a jobber. What really worries me is that I think the Show/Brock feud will drag on for a couple months after it's revealed that ____________ .
Guest Leena Report post Posted October 23, 2002 The only upside I can see to a Lesnar vs. Big Show fued, is that the Big Show will get somewhat of a push, and face the WWE Champion, Lesnar, at the Survivor Series. Hey, he might surprise us, you never know. BROCK LESNAR RULES THOUGH, MAN! HE CAN TAKE SHOW! BROCK LESNAR RULES!
Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted October 23, 2002 Not to be negative but.... WHAT A STINKING, STEAMING, PILE OF DOG SHIT~! Angle/Benoit bickering like small children (again) after looking strong the last few weeks and The absolute BIGGEST EMBARASSMENT IN WRESTLING is being pushed again. The Big Show is fucking scum. A man who earns a shitload of money, but cant even be fucked to do anything resembling wrestling in a ring. A man who slaps the face of a company who keeps pushing him by getting fatter and FATTER! An awful, unover oaf, who cant act or cut a good promo, who hasnt had a singles match close to "good", who is seen as a jobber (jobbed to JEFF FUCKING HARDY, a few weeks ago) is now the man who puts out Taker and is gonna get a world title shot?!?!?! Well kids, just shows what hard work and determination will get you....Oh wait, actually it shows that the best way to go is to have a horrrible work ethic and be a fat, lazy, useless bastard. Why not have Edge vs. Lesnar, Los Guerreros vs. Angle/Benoit and Misterio vs. Noble, and send that fat insignificant fucking whale back to OVW? Fuck Big Show, and fuck WWE if this goes ahead. Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted October 23, 2002 More Notes & Details From WWE Smackdown Taping This report is from Cory Howell & 1wrestling.com. Rikishi beat Matt Hardy to start out with. They recapped the Stinkface Matt got last week before the match, and Matt Hardy cut a Promo that won't be shown on TV, but was just used in house to get some heel heat. Didn't really work out that well, though. Nothing special, as far as the match goes. After the Rikishi beat Matt, he grabbed a hat, and started to dance, and who shows up? the newly acquired Big Show (YEA!!!! - The thought of getting to see Big Show wrestle Tonight made me nearly wet my pants - NOT). Show does the typical beat down of the face. "gonna dominate Smackdown, yada yada yada" *yawn* "look out Brock, etc" Apparently Show might be getting a push for the title. The Multi-Million Dollar Prince came out with a trophy in the ring. She will give that trophy to the winners of the tag team titles as their rewards (as if the belts aren't enough??) - Out comes Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit. Decent stuff. Kurt Claims the trophy as his, Benoit Tries to take it. Insults Back and Forth (really funny line - Kurt calls Chris "Mr.. Toothless Aggression" or something like that.) Steph slaps Kurt, then as Chris is laughing at it, she slaps him too for good measure. Sets up the main event for night....Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit for the trophy. YIPPEE SKIPPEE. Call me stupid, but if you already have gold medals, and the tag team belts, is a 4 foot trophy, really that important? stupid angle in my opinion, but hey, It's a heck of a lot better than ANY angle involving HHH and corpses. Another in house promo with Jerry Lawler, and I think it was Tajiri, that won't air. This was pretty funny stuff. Lawler introduced him to the crowd as his friend (automatic babyface heat). Tajiri then proceeds to sing great balls of fire, since Jerry Lee Lewis is from around here. Freaking funny stuff. Once again, when Tajiri faced Jamie Noble, the in house promo failed to really do much for the crowd to get them into to the match. Jamie Noble beat Tajiri to retain his title. Pretty decent stuff by Tajiri. Nothing Ground breaking though. Oh, Jamie came down dressed as Elvis. WTF? the guy's been dead 25 years. why is it that every single stinking time the WWE comes to Memphis, they have to make a reference to/ have someone dressed as Elvis. Taker Comes out. Delivers an pretty emotional speech. Goes through his history of saying he's beaten a lot of talented guys, big names, super athletes, etc. At the PPV, he lost to the best man that night. Said his hand was no excuse, but indicated his age is catching up with him. Hints that he will retire. Show comes out - says the reason he lost to Lesnar was because him. Said that he has been chasing taker around for the past 2 years, dishing out punishment. (funny, i don't remember show chasing taker around all that much at all) they start to walk back, show follows too close, taker allows him to go on ahead. Taker poses, Show comes back out, trashes Taker, Picks him up, body slam off the stage on to sound equipment. Medics out, with stretchers and a neck brace. Edge, Rey, Sgt. Slaughter, help taker onto the stretcher, Take fights them off. I don't know how much will get shown after the body slam off the stage. but Taker did One hell of a sell job for footage, if they use it. Edge, & Rey Mysterio beat Chavo & Eddie Guerrero in a very good match. Good follow up from the PPV. Rey Hits the 619. Nice tag team work between Rey And Edge. *NOTE Rey is So TINY, but boy can he move around the ring*. Watch this match if you get a chance. Lessee, John Cena faced Billy Kidman. Alright match. No heat once again, even with Cena delivering our 3rd in house promo of the night saying The Memphis grizzlies suck, the Memphis tigers suck, and Elvis Presley sucks. Still not much heat on his entrance or through out the match. Dawn Marie and Al Wilson break up. Dawn says that He was the most passionate man she's known. He gives a semi passionate kiss, and she walks away googled eyed. What a lucky man - Gets to Kiss Dawn on TV and he is Torrie's dad. Chris Benoit Beats Kurt Angle in a pretty good match. Lots of technical wrestling here. Good stuff. Typical Chris/Kurt match. I can never get sick of these guys. Eddie And Chavo come out and help out Chris to get the win. Chris gets the trophy - Kurt goes postal, and trashes it, then takes his leave. Eddie And Chavo then cut a promo trying to convince Chris that the three of them ARE SMACKDOWN. Brock comes out and clean house, and corrects them and says that He is Smackdown. (Agreed) NOTES & THOUGHTS The Pyramid was around 2/5s full. No one was in the top portion at all. and they had portions of the lower section behind the Hard Camera blocked off. Pretty dismal attendance. When RAW was here a few months ago, they at least filled up the whole lower half of the pyramid. And on Dec 31, 1999, they had the place PACKED for a freaking HOUSE show. They are on hard times. The crowd was pretty much dead in my opinion for most of it. What killed the crowd was the 10 minute breaks between action. That and during the main event they let Kurt angle's music play for like 15 minutes before Chris Benoit came out. Some Univ. Of Memphis basketball players were there in the third row. Earl Barron, Anthony Rice, and Dwayne Erwin were there. They gave to Cena, when he came out, after his "Memphis tigers suck" comment. It seemed to me, that the majority of people there didn't have a clue what was going on with the story lines, or who half these wrestlers were. There were still a lot of signs for the ROCK. WTF??? he's been gone for a while and won't be back for a while. And no one had any really funny signs that I saw. Memphis used to be great for wrestling, but it pretty much sucks now. And the main reason that Smackdown is better than Raw - no necrophilia. Credit: 1Wrestling/411wrestling
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted October 23, 2002 I'm hoping that when Brock came out and yelled at Eddy/Benoit/Chavo was part of the show and Benoit challenges him for the title. Undertaker can come back and feud with Show NiKO
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted October 23, 2002 So...is Show heel or face now? He's challenging a heel champion but he took out Taker. *scratches head* Oh, and expect this to be dropped next week when people leave house shows before the Brock/Show main events. Guest Brian Report post Posted October 23, 2002 They could be attempting to turn Lesnar face.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 23, 2002 Well, Im guessing that Lesnar could possibly F-5 Show although it comes down more to Show's height than his weight. I dont really get how Show goes from Heel on RAW beating up Jeff Hardy and Booker T to heel on Smackdown taking out Taker and demanding a title shot with Brock, another Heel. Im almost willing to bet its a 3 or 4 way match if Show is involved..
Guest Brian Report post Posted October 23, 2002 That would make sense, but then we lose the great SmackDown card they had set up for the PPV, being Edge/Lesnar, Benoit/Angle vs. Los Guerreros, and Rey/Knoble. It's better off for next week just to show that Lesnar can F-5 the big guy. And that is the whle purpose.

Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted October 23, 2002 This is just stupid. I mean, I can see why they would want Big Show vs. Brock - at least, I can see the theory behind it. I can even see why they had Big Show take out Taker (Brock already got the job done - Takers worth was lessened - then Big Show took the rest... Build up Big Show to build up Brock - but even then, is it worth building up the BIG SHOW? (god no) ) But... Big Show is a heel? They keep twisting and turning the guy - on RAW he was a face - a week before that a heel - a week before that a face... It's just stupid. Why couldn't the WWF give Angle/Benoit at least a few matches to solidify their title run? To have them at odds right away - even when they have had only, what, ONE WEEK as a 'legitimate' team is just stupid.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted October 23, 2002 Amazing... Show joins Smackdown while still a heel, beats up two faces, and then demands a title shot... an, if there wasn't any Angle/Benoit or Los Guerreros/Edge & Rey on this card, I'd waste my time doing something else. We could have all set to have a damn good PPV with Edge/Lesnar, Angle & Benoit/Los Guerreros, and Rey/Noble representing Smackdown nad we're stuck with the Big Sloth/Lesnar probably... What a fucking joke.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 24, 2002 Facts About Matt Hardy/Mattitude (from his entrance video thing) -Mattitude is practiced in over 100 countries -Matt Hardy's bedtime is 4am So far, the tag match was pretty good although a bit short, the cruiser match and the hardy/rikishi match were decent. Oh, and Dawn Marie is in a pretty interesting outfit, for people who care.. After the tag match, Smackdown takes a nose dive. 1 Segment for the Brock Taker confrontation which ends in the Taker Show crap with Taker taking the bump off the stage. Next segment is all about Taker getting up. Then you get Cena vs Kidman, which sucked. Of course the main event (Angle Benoit) saves the 2nd hour, but you can skip all but the last 15-20 minutes of the 2nd hour and not miss much.. Next Week: The Smackdown Halloween party! Fans are invited to dress up, as will Tazz, Cole and some of the Superstars..
