WWE disappointed with lack of media coverageq

WWE was somewhat disappointed yesterday at the Smackdown taping due to the fact that no mainstream media outlet covered the controversial Triple H/Katie Vick segment from RAW. The segment was designed to get WWE attention, but nobody bit on the bait.

The longer the media ignores the WWE over crap like this, the sooner Vince will realize that he needs to change up the product and produce better shows. I can't say that I don't blame the media for not covering this crap. Nobody really cares.

I agree with Adam Bomb. This is actually a good thing because if Vince sees he's being ignored by the media maybe it'll knock some sense into his thick, sick skull. The media probably looks down so much at the WWE that they're not even gonna bother anymore. Would anybody else rather see Shane McMahon writing instead of STephanie. Stephanie is just like her father, and her ego, Triple H's ego and Vince are KILLING the company.

Well this goes to show you that there is such a thing as good bad press. Because its not good when you get NO PRESS!

 

I said this in the Raw thread and I'll probably make it a normal thread but the junk that they are pulling just to see how far they'll push the envelope is so far removed from stuff like the Austin-Pillman gun incident and the Bret Hart obsenity ladened tirade in the fact that both of those were done as character development and storyline advancing bits while now they are just going for the lowest common demoniantor level now.

 

I agree that since the media feels so hoodwinked with the gay marriage that wasn't that they are now in "boy that cried wolf" mode

 

It even reeked of deliberant attention seeking. I mean it was leaked hours before it aired that they taped the footage, they even ran a percautionary warning before rolling the tape, I think had they not have leeked out their plans (i.e. just shot the thing live) THEN you might have gotten press. I mean TNN okayed the whole bit? COME ON!

Good...fuck you, Vince. Even if it would have worked, and that's a big if, it would have only drawn the casual, fair-weather fans that left anyway, while STILL alienating the core fans.

 

Although I think the last time it happened was because of the Austin/McMahon storyline. That alone, plus a decent show all around.

 

However, it's hard to predict what draws in viewers--I actually started watching in 95--mainly because I liked Hart/HBK. Sounds smarky, but their charisma had a lot to do with it. I didn't become a smark overnight.

The only thing is, and not to sound pessimistic here, but what if Vince goes more and more "shocking" in an effort to get attention? He's already demonstrated he's got the mentality of a 6 year old when it comes to attention, so who knows how low he'll go

That wouldn't shock us one bit. But hey, he can afford to lose a few core fans in return for that guaranteed influx of new casual viewers, can't he?

What boggles my mind is Vince is supposed to be this evil genius. However, lately he just seems like a complete moron and is completely lost. What's happened to this guy. Either he just doesnt care anymore, or his little daughter has him wrapped so hard around her finger that she can get away with writing anything or any other writer as a matter of fact.
