Below is what he had to say during the short chat: "After the pay-per-view [No Mercy, this past Sunday] was over Shane McMahon walked around talking with fans and stayed there for around twenty minutes. When asked about the ratings slump, Shane said that he's not surprised considering the great TV shows there are in competition but said business will pick up once he'll get back on TV. Our reader suggested giving Angle, Edge, Rey and Benoit a nice raise for their match and Shane said that if they wanted $1 million a month he would go pimp himself to make sure they got it, especially Angle who he said is "the greatest he's ever seen." However, some people have said that Shane would be in favor of giving Test a big push... Then again...he likes Angle... Double edged sword.

Shane DOES listen to the fans and if he were running things i wouldnt be surprised if Benoit, Angle, Mysterio, Jericho, RVD were all at the top. I may get killed for this....but with some work, and acting lessons, and mic work I think Test could be an ok wrestler. He seems to have the agility and the look, but he just needs to be motivated. Kane, Taker, Nash would kill to be able to move around in the ring and have the athleticism that Test has.

He seems like a likeable person, who wouldn't let his ego get in the way of putting out a good product. Vince, no matter how far the ratings plummet, will never abort the brand extension. He just will not admit he fucked up. The lame excuse that it gives people more camera time is shit. 3/4 of the RAW roster and many of the Smackdown people are expendable IMO. Save money, put the good guys on two times a week, and give the fans what they want to see.

Guest Mulatto Heat Posted October 24, 2002 Report Posted October 24, 2002 I grew resentful of Shane around this time last year as he seemed to be pushed ahead of 95% of the Alliance, but now that he's been off TV (with the exception of one July RAW) for 11 months now, I have come to realize that he is FAR better than his other family members. Oh, and he thinks Angle's the best he's ever seen? Wow AS, maybe he isn't so bad after all!

Plus, remember that EVERY booker has their pet projects--like Heyman and Rhyno. And once Test bombs miserably he'd be depushed anyway.

He was accepted as a force to be reckoned with during the InVasion angle, and he was shorter than the vast majority of his opponents. Shane-o-Mac Daddy is great, I say.

I think because of Big Slow's insanely huge contract that they didn't do Trips/Slow at Armageddon because they needed to justify the contract. And considering that all three guys mentioned above were all faces at the time, they might as well have given it to the most over of them. Heh... funny thing I just realized: All three of them were squashed by Trips on RAW after he won the title... Okay, it's not that funny, I just felt like floating out a rumor about Trips since everyone else has already done it.
Guest DeputyHawk Posted October 24, 2002 Report Posted October 24, 2002 i think shane is great. for all the alliance angle was blown horribly, mid-late 2001 was still better than 2002 has been. i don't understand why vince prefers stephanie in creative. at all. all evidence that she has a better mind for the business is not remotely visible from the outside. i may be completely off base, but didn't jake roberts infer that shane was illegitimate in his shoot interview? i can't see it considering how closely they resemble each other facially, but still ... would explain some things.

He's smart, he's trained and I think he understands psychology and what it's like to be out there in the ring. I remember in Beyond the Mat, seeing Shane interaction with people backstage, especially with Foley's kids, you just kind of got a sense of a really warm, likeable guy. Just genuinely cool and nice. Shane's got charisma, presence, and he listens to fans, as others here have said. I'm convinced of it anyway. It's good to hear from Shane. -SP

Guest converge241 Posted October 25, 2002 Report Posted October 25, 2002 But shane kinda seems like he wants to put himself over at expense of others. Dont get me wrong he seems like he wants to help guys but look at how he presents himself in the context of matches by not selling the effects of the bumps and being able to, for the most part, stand toe to toe with top superstars on multiple occasions. Sure sometimes they really work a gimmick or reason for him to have a chance but a lot of times thats just thrown out the window.
