How about making a section in there for some of the old threads that no one wants to forget?

I can think of a bunch of candidates off the top of my head:

The APO Sucks thread by Zacky

The OJ Hart Threads

The Gnome Warfare Thread

Ask Dames

Metel Ed

So?

why ask anyone else? this subject has been brought up many times and everyone ALWAYS wants it.

Thing is....some of those threads are LONG and there is always the debate on who chooses which threads are worthy, etc. I'd rather discuss it first than just go put it up and get billions of requests for threads to be put up.

Bah. I say let me pick 'em. I have the best taste of any of these chumps. I know talent when I see it, I mean I see it everytime I look in the mirror!

I asked for this a while ago. I think it would be a good idea.

Dames, just leave it up to THE ESTABLISHMENT~! to pick them.

If the State's thread hadn't been decimated by the board transfer, I'd say include it first. If all the deleted old posts that still exist on the server but aren't visible can somehow be put in there, then by all means include it.

Oh, I wholeheartedly support this idea. Choosing the threads to be archived is a little hard, but I'd suggest having people suggest their favorite threads (no more than a certain number) and whichever suggestions occur most often win.

I agree, its a good idea. By the way, the Archives in and of themselves are friggin' awesome. Whose idea was it to create them?

I say that The Gnome thread is a MUST have.

So very true, the Gnome Thread is pure awesomeness. I hope you continue with the gnome offensive, CWM.

I will be, soon very soon.

God damn neighbors are being dicks again. Blow their leaves on my lawn will they? I'll show them!

I agree about the gnome thread. Good stuff all around. I have a wide variety of other ego-stroking suggestions to make, too. I don't think the world would object if Metal Ed's entire body of work was compiled. In fact, I'd do it myself.

I agree Metal Ed should get in. So Should The State's stuff.

As well:

The APO thread, and the OJ Hart Thread.

I think the thread where fkteale flamed FZM should be there.

I also think the NewsRadio thread should also be there

Am I still the only person who thinks the dissections are a waste of time usually?

Oh, that's it, Kotz. You're my NEMESIS now. Just wait until you make a fairly long post about something vaguely topical, and then you'll get the tongue-lashing (er, keyboard-lashing) of your cyber-life!

Erm, okay. I'll just no-sell it and invalidate the effort as a result.

Yea, but that'd be boring... just like the LAST RESORT~! Shoot, who did you use that on? Kurt Cobain was the last one, correct? Anyone else? I hate to look like an unestablished idiot but I can't remember.

Guest Kotzenjunge

I used it on that Ken fellow.

And yes, ANYONE's flaming method can be invalidated by no-selling it. The FINAL RESORT~! just takes a helluva lot less time than the Dissections.

I agree with having a "Post Archives" here at the Smarts. It is like a history of the Smarts board and some of the fun/cool threads that have come from it. For the posters that took part in the thread it will bring back good memories. For the new posters that were not around when the threads took place it will be opening up something new for them to look at.

I say "yay" to the Smarts having an archives folder set up so some of the old threads can be stored there for future preferences.

It's lost a page since it was first done.. I actually saved that thread on my computer.

That was the greatest thread ever. I couldn't stop laughing while I was reading that...

Good times..good times.

EDIT: Spelling..

We should add that "Memorable BAD quotes" thread from General Wrestling, as well.

I took time to setup the archives. Ever since the site began, we had always wanted an archive system but the limitations of the site prevented it from happening. We were stuck with the search engine (which really does work, by the way) until we discovered we could just create another forum for the archives. So we went to work on copying and pasting the articles to their new homes!

The archives will now be updated monthly so the October articles will appear at the beginning of November and so on and so forth. Also, I encourage the writers to post a link to your archives in your articles so people can easily access articles they may have missed the first time around.

Also, there will soon be a staff page replacing the about us page where a link to each individuals archives will be in place, underneath the brief bios. this will be my last contribution to the site for awhile. oeace!

I definitely support the old school thread saving idea. Metal Ed is a must-have, as is Bad wrestling quotes, and gnomes.
