Idea for the belts in the WF

Recommended Posts

Guest AnnieEclectic

It has come up in chat, by someone and verified by nearly everyone there. Our system right now has shown to be, somewhat flawed.

We have 7 available belts (counting Tag as 2)

we have.... ten active people

obviously that might grow and shrink over time, but there will at some point be issues about the belts, either too many or too few.

So, right now it looks like belts need to be culled, but which?

Hardcore - Not a great history, but anyone can compete for it and a good portion of wrestling fans are passionate about HC matches.

US - Great belt to shoot for to start with, good history, but out of place with so few guys.

LHW - HUGE history, but almost no one to fight in the division

if you were to, say, kill one, what happens when the roster swells again (which it will at some point)

Here's my thought.

A "Stip" Championship. It needs a cooler name obviously but it goes like this:

Kill HC, LHW, and US.

Create the above belt.

First winner of the match, makes what the championship is. If the first champion wants to be known for a HiaC fighter, it can only be defended in that match. Once it's lost to a new champion, they then choose -their signature match, and it's defended in that way.

It can be the US, HC, and LHW belt in one, and more!

Plus, it helps build character. Cruiser rules on the belt makes that person look like the next great lightweight champ. Weapon-type stips add character for them (The "Kendo Sword" Championship anyone?), and someone turning the belt into a "Normal" match belt makes that person look like a purist. "Ultimate Submissions" match? It can help some bumpees start defining their WF character.

Whatcha think?

p.s. Kaine had this thought: Bring back the 'Anarchy' belt?

Anarchy = (N)

Combining titles = (Y)

The name of Stip title = (N)(N)(N)!!!!!!

Let's not get too hasty with the title killing...

*clutches title*

If you want to bring back any title, make it the dance off title.

Uhm, seriously though, just keep the idea for now, more people will come to the fed...

hey, in chat about 12 people were yelling for the killing of -some- title, this was my idea to save at least the idea of the lower 3 belts.

Just theoretically, since it probably wont happen, what would you call the 'stip' belt?

I'm in agreement with Annie here. Even with about 20 people in the WF at once, why do we need 6 sets of titles? It seems pretty pointless. Having fewer titles is good. And with three singles titles and the tag belts, there are plenty of opportunities to go after some SWF gold.

if you want the LHW belt still around, you can at least pass it to me for a while and run with it.

Also i have always thought that it was kind of akward to have a US title and the IC title, since both were obviously ripped from WWF and WCW at the time that the league was created, and are both the same level of titles in those federations.

As for the Light-Heavyweight Title..I always thought Crusierweight Title had a better ring too it, but thats just me.

What do other Efeds have? Maybe OC can add to this. How many titles where in that FLW/FFWL/FWL/FFLW/whatever it was called? I personally think that there are way too many, the last time i can even recall a LHW match was Flesher/Annie/deKindes and since Annie won it i don't recall even seeing her defend it. Hence it is a dead belt that needs to either be retired, or put away until the fed becomes bigger again. Same thing for the Tag titles.

All you really need for now is...

World, IC, and no one will want to drop the US title so, US title. Possible a fourth one like Annie is talking about.

Having a "you name the stip belt" is the worst idea ever. Let's say the guy wants to make it a cruiserweight title, people above the weight limit can't fight for it. Or what if someone just loves the inferno match and wants to make it the inferno match title and we have a fucking inferno match on every show. Or if someone's thinking and dirty, the "Frost can only lose this belt on ppv's by no show belt."

I do agree that combining some titles at this point is a good idea. I would say have unification matches with the Hardcore, US and Lightheavy, leaving the US. That way when the roster grows again and more belts are needed or an increase in Hardcore and Lightyheavy wrestlers occur you can simply take the belt back out of the US and preserve the lineage while also lauching into a storyline about how important that belt is or how much a person wants the belt that they want to "rescue" it from the US.

Just for the record, if you were to make it a "Cruiser rules" match, that would really be "Cruiserwieght rules" i.e. 20 count match to win. Plus I'm sure if (BIG if there) this belt ever came to be that whichever 'signature' match style chosen would have to go through CC and be approved. The idea is, at the very least, interesting.

How about uniting the three belts and the champion decides -which- belt it becomes? When you win it you can make it the HC, LHW, or US belt until you're defeated, when they choose. That would keep lineage alive until the roster swells again, plus names could keep on being added to the Champions list.

Just tossin crap to the walls folks.

As far as the cruiser idea by Frost, we had HVT wrestling under cruiser rules at one time. That's not going to happen.

As far as the stipulations title, it has worked in the past in other feds and is a relatively fun concept as long as the champion loves writing those matches.

Don't get rid of them, but I'd say suspend the Hardcore and possibly LHW or tag belts for now until more people get bumped or come back.

Turn all belts into a large ham sandwich, and allow Thugg to eat it. Rumor has it that the 2-time champ is really letting himself go in retirement, and has gone from 3% body fat to 43% body fat.

PROMO (Stubby P. McWeed);

"Thugg...3% bodyfat? It is to laugh.

Anywho...I don't know about "killing" any titles. Perhaps a title or two could be put on the shelf for a while, and possibly revived again when we get more people.

As for the "any type of stip belt"...that's pretty much just the hardcore belt. Basically the hardcore belt can be defended in any type of match that doesn't have DQs in it. Perhaps we could give the hardcore belt a fancier name or something to reflect this.

If a belt were to be retired it would probably be the LHW belt, simply because unlike the other belts...only certain people can hold it. Possibly the US belt too, since it basically just serves the same purpose as the ICTV belt.

Mothernature says..."

Speaking of people that let themselves go...*glances at sig pic* BEEFCAAAAKE! But I digress...

I'm gonna go with Stubby and say that if your gonna retire a title dump the LHW. I'm also going to go with Frost's idea of retiring the titles through absorption, so unless we suddenly get a glut of returnees and bumps really soon, ICTV eats the LHW in some way, shape or form. Perhaps through a HHH necro-bonding like experience...*sees torches and pitchforks being lifted up high*...or not.

Damn...I had no original ideas in that paragraph did I? Well here's one: Do NOT make the SWF Heavyweight Interpretive Dance Title. It's just asking for trouble.

This is a GREAT idea. An AMAZING idea. An idea that takes into account the fact that I covet the LHW Title~!

I beg to differ. Haven't you ever read ELM's epic 23,198-word tango with Misty Rivers in which he told the story of his bad case of the flu?

*****, baby, all the way!

.....

......

..........

I think I'm scared now.

Well, how about if someone finds a way to win the HC, LHW, and US titles.... then we can borrow an idea from All Japan and make the.... "Midcard Triple Crown"! That way when we do swell in ranks again, the TC can be separated back into separate titles. Although a TC should probably have it's own "champions" listing in the history....

Plus, -any- time the roster shrinks you can go back to the idea without ever tanishing any belt's history. Sure, this is kinda rewording Frost's idea completely, but..... it would be great to force champions to write how they caryy three belts ala Kawada or Misawa.

math may not be your strong point there Tod, but that's six belts, not three.
