Superstars speak out on the "new signee"...

Kidman, Palumbo, Malenko and Demott are very honest about Scotty and the current WWE product as well. All I want to know is: Who the hell is Robby Steiner?

WWE Superstars speak out on Scott Steiner

BELFAST, Northern Ireland – Oct. 25, 2002 – Word spread quickly around the locker room today that Scott Steiner had signed with World Wrestling Entertainment. WWE.com asked many of the Superstars for their reactions to the news.

Chuck Palumbo

Outside the business, he’s one of my real good friends. I met him when I first started in WCW. He’s helped me all along in my career. I keep in touch with him on a regular basis since we departed from WCW. I’m also friends with his brother Robby Steiner. I’m also excited because I think he’s the best heel in the business by far. He’s a true heel, and I think he’s the kind of guy we can use right now, especially where our business is. I think he’s the kind of guy who can help bring it back. People believe in him. I can’t stress enough that he’s a true heel. People believe it.

Shannon Moore

The whole time I was in WCW, as far as Scott Steiner goes, it was a good experience every time. He was a friend. From the first days I went in there, he was really cool to me. He’s a good dude in my book. I have no problems with him. And as far as the show goes, I think he can definitely benefit the show just with his all-around look. I mean, he’s a genetic freak. So I think it’ll be a big benefit.

Rikishi

He’s a hell of a talent. It’s always good when a veteran who has been around the business a while is be able to come in. We’ve known each other for a long time. From a friendship view, I’m just happy to see him come back. We can hang out in the locker room, and somewhat see each other every day. Business-wise, I think Scott Steiner will be a plus here. Anytime you have a new talent that comes in that’s a veteran like that, it does nothing but help us out in whatever field that we need him in. In my personal opinion, I think he’d be a great heel. I could see Brock Lesnar against Scotty Steiner in the future. Something new.

Chris Benoit

For a number of years, over in Japan and in WCW, I’ve always admired his wrestling ability, his wrestling skill and his character. I think he’s going to definitely make a difference in the company. He’s a true professional. When it comes to business, he’s all about it. I’d love to be able to get back in the ring with him and have some more matches. We had some great matches over in Japan, and some great matches in WCW. In WWE, he’s very welcome. I’m happy to have him on the crew. He’s a good guy to be with, a good guy to be around. He’s good for morale.

Fit Finlay

Scott Steiner will be a great addition to WWE. He’s a great athlete and a great performer. I’m glad to hear it.

Billy Kidman

If it’s good for business, then it’s all for it. But if they’re looking for a quick fix, I don’t any one guy – any guy – is the answer. But I love Steiner as a performer, especially back in his heyday – I don’t know if you’d call it his prime, I don’t know if he’s hit that yet. As long as his body holds up, I think he’ll be good for the company.

Booker T

I’m glad to hear he’s on board. Hopefully, he’s in good shape. Last time I talked to him, his back was hurting pretty badly. Hopefully, his time off did him some good, and he got some good therapy. I always thought he was one of the few guys who could make it up here, besides myself. I always thought he worked hard all the time, even when he was hurt. He never whined about it. He always went out and did the work. I’ve got a lot of respect for him.

Bill DeMott

A lot of things were said about Scott Steiner. But I don’t go “Internet.” I go by who I deal with. Scott Steiner and I had great chemistry when we worked together. We got along. I know there’s a lot of things said about the guy. I think he’s a professional. I had some of the best matches I had in WCW with Scott Steiner. So I look forward to it. I’m looking forward to seeing Scott. Scott and I got along really good. So I’m happy for him.

Dean Malenko

Scotty’s going to be a good addition to WWE. Scotty’s been around for quite some time. From a physical standpoint, he’s definitely got everything that you’d want. Scotty’s been here before, with his brother. I’ve known Scotty for quite some time; he’s a great competitor in the ring, and he definitely brings some size to the table. I see a lot of great opponents for Scotty, just walking in the door. You’ve got Triple H, and of course you’ve got Brock. The list goes on and on. Scotty brings a lot of star power, and most importantly some new star power to WWE programming. I’m looking forward to working with Scotty and I know a lot of the guys will be too.

Brock Lesnar

Bring him on.

Kurt Angle

I think having Scott Steiner come to WWE sets another dimension to sports entertainment. He’s a guy who’s every bit as big as any Superstar has ever been. So it’s a treat to have him. I think he’s a great wrestler. He’s a great entertainer. People love him. I think he’s going to be a great addition. I hope he comes to SmackDown!, but either/or I think he’s going to make a great impact.

Chavo Guerrero

He’s a great addition to our roster. Scott’s a good performer – a great performer – a great athlete and a tremendous heel. I think he’ll help out the company a lot.

Rey Mysterio

I worked with him in Australia one time, one on one, and it was great. He’s just a hell of a worker. He’s going to help out the company too, whether he goes to RAW or SmackDown!

Rob Steiner is the lost Steiner brother. He couldn't suplex very well so they locked him in a cage in the basement

Just for the record, I seem to remember Rick's real name being "Rob." But I don't know where I got that or why they'd change his name.

Rick Steiner's real name is Robert Rechsteiner. Scott's real name is Scott Rechsteiner.

Oh, alright.

All the while I'm looking at Palumbo's quote, and saying to myself "Who the hell is Rob? Is he talking about Rob Schneider?"

Freakin' Palumbo and his real name bullshit. I wonder why "Monty" or "Kipp" never seeped into his subconscience...

This, describing a guy whose history includes going into business for himself on TV multiple times without the company's consent, stirring up fights in the back, and going into roid rage on random medical personel.

This, describing a guy who's idea of cutting a promo is yelling at the fans incoherently while throwing in the phrases "white trash" and "hoochies" as many times as possible. "Hollah if ya hear mah" indeed.

Keep walking the company line, boys.

Amen to that.

Oh, and I think Chuck was just talking about Rick when saying Robby.

Well, if Benoit would have said something bad about Steiner and was put in the WWE "doghouse"... then, it wouldn't be that bad.. well, not for me.

I'm not saying I would trade Benoit for Steiner because I wouldn't, but I am saying that Steiner has the ability to entertain me better with him sneezing than Benoit wrestling.

Go figure.

Because wrestling isn't wrestling, it's about steriods and drugged-up promos.

Oh, and guys talking about the size of their dicks, too. Can't forget that.

Keep telling yourself that, Scotty.

Of course, it is!

Why do you like I watch Raw so much? ;)

HHH + Steiner = Entertainment. Wait and see.

Oh I agree, HHH and Steiner is a deranged feud on quite a few levels and I think it'll prove entertaining. Steiner has a rep for being a flake, so let's see how he reacts to HHH's bullshit.

Benoit was probably thinking more of the Steiner of 1992-97 rather than the lunatic Big Poppa Pump.

Considering BBP is the one he's going to be working with, I doubt he would make such an oversight.

I dig that comment from Lesnar, as it's very semi-shootish. It should have said:

" I've heard stories about him from WCW and before then and I pretty much dare the bitch to try and take liberties with me in the ring."

Speak for yourself, buddy.

By the way, is this little "schtick" of yours an attempt to being witty? It isn't working. You're among adults here.

Keep in mind that Steiner was also once a amateur wrestler. I think Steiner is legitimally tough.

If they're so honest, how come there aren't any negative ones? I'm not saying everyone shares my negative attitudes towards the steroid sicko, but surely someone on the roster has at least a petty conflict with him.

I know.

But hey, we can see.

Nothing will happen fight wise, but something interesting will.

I doubt they would have posted them on their website.

Steiner isn't Bob Holly. It won't be that easy. Plus, sine Brock's way to solve problems is dropping people on their heads, I doubt Steiner would put himself in an upside down position.

Steiner is practically a criple, guys. Beating up a Yoga-enthusiast in his late fourties doesn't make you a "tough guy."

He would be out of his mind to try that stuff in the WWE, after the Plain Ride from Hell. Yeah, it is Steiner, but I think even he has to understand when to tone it down.

well, he was tough till his injuries. it's taken this guy over a year to get a medical clearance to even wrestle, he's more brittle than even austin is.

i can totally see a kevin nash with this happening. if he was in as bad shape as he was with the wcw style, he won't last 4 months doing the wwf style.

i just want to see him wrestle brock once and give him the screwdriver. that would be the coolest sight EVER.
