Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 27, 2002 opening match has some luchadores who have not been on tv in a very long time as Safari, Olympico, Riveria vs Dr X, Arkangel, some arab gimmick guy. needless to say the 2 guys without masks desperately need to get one. Olympico seems to be the most talented luchadore of this match, which is not saying much. Early on in the match the crowd was chanting "Dr X is a faggot" in espanol, its funny. now back to the Raiders vs Chiefs
Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 27, 2002 well get the finalist for the Guapos group, I am wishing that Ricky Marvin or Zimbido join the group. 2nd match was Pieroth Army vs Giant Silva & Capos 3 rd match was Talibanes vs HSH, Negro Casas, Felino 4th gdi & Black Tiger vs Mr Niebla, Hijo de Lizmark, Vampiro
Guest Matt Young Report post Posted October 27, 2002 I hadn't watched lucha in a while, but I turned it on after reading this thread and I saw the 3rd fall of a CMLL match with VAMPIRO~! I'm a huge mark for him, as I met him on a couple occasions and worked for his official website. He looks odd with the short hair, but the Juggalo tights are awesome. Also, that 3rd fall of that match was better than almost anything WWE puts out, and it was only a few minutes long.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 27, 2002 Hijo de Lizmark and Vampiro did not protect Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Bucannero when they went for the topes as both members nearly took the bumps at full impact. next match will be Satanico vs Damian
Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 27, 2002 the 3rd caida is always the best part of the match, at times it can go 10-15 minutes in championship matches.
Chunk 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2002 This may be a dumb quetion to all of the massive Luch fans, but why are masks soooo important in Lucha?
Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 27, 2002 Mask = personality, history, honor, gimmick The mask is a family heirloom which is past on to luchadores who can continue the tradition and bring respect to the name. The is always a Jr or a Hijo de in Lucha Libre as it is a good stepping stone in the business, it gives the fans a reason to cheer or boo them.
Chunk 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2002 Right, I understand. Where does a new Luchadore go to get a mask if they are the first in their family line then? Or doesn't that matter?
Guest Matt Young Report post Posted October 27, 2002 Highspots.com of course! Just kidding... I guess they design a pattern that fits their character, but I have no clue. I just wanted to point something out, though. Did anyone notice that Essa Rios (AKA Mr. Augila) came out to the Degeneration X theme song? That was kind of fucked up. Anyway, as I previously stated, this was my first time watching lucha in quite some time, but I loved both the CMLL and AAA protions of the shows and plan on making it a weekly thing from now on if possible. Can any of you guys (razazteca, I'm looking at you) recommend any sites to me? I'd like to find some that can explain the hisory of lucha libre as well as the present-day scene, and also a site that has tapes for sale and/or reviews of them. You can also recommend me some good tapes to get if you'd like. And finally, thank you raz for the update on the time slot so I got to see this great show. With it not being on Tuesday nights anymore, it was hard for me to keep track.
Guest Joe_G Report post Posted October 27, 2002 La Arena has tons of profiles and a dictionary of lucha terms. Indispensible if you're starting out. My buddy The Cubs Fan updates when lucha's airing ever week and what you're likely to see. Also has a year or so of lucha tv reviews. Wrestleholic Videos is probably the best source for lucha. Alfredo offers CMLL and AAA TV blocks, plus PPVs and stuff from Tijuana and Monterey. Pretty cheap and great service. We shoot the shit about lucha at the link in my sig. If you're looking for tapes, check out the "New to Lucha" thread elsewhere in this folder.

I've been looking into buying some tapes of Ian's matches off you for a while now, so I've been to your site.

Do you shoot all your own videos then? Surely not! I've heard your video quality is very good though (picture wise) so maybe you do. Also Razazteca=> this may sound like a stupid question, but is that actually the ultimate warrior in yor sig? Its his double if it isnt
Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 28, 2002 the person with the WARRIOR face paint is Rey Bucannero. Its kind of funny cause his partner's name is Ultimo Guerrero, which is translated into Ultimate Warrior in spanish I really doubt that it is Jim Hellwig though, but you never know The team in the sig are Guerreros de Infernales, GDI as Joe G calls them. They are the featured wrestlers on the CMLL show as they are on nearly every week, good stuff. Buy a best of tape from Bob!! forget Vampiro GDI are the true talent of CMLL. Know know when WARRIOR was pacing back and forth ranting and raving about the power of the Warriors. Well the One Warrior Nation is stronger than most people think, as its influence stretches the world from the Sportatoruim of Dallas to MSG to Altanta to Arena Mexico. Chunk 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2002 I see, i didnt think it could be, but it does look a lot like him (well i think so anyway - apart from the size of course) If he can wrestle though, it cant be the old ultimate warrior LOL ChUnK!
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted October 29, 2002 I've read about the Lucha Commishion. Is this just a worked thing or something? And Mask v Mask macthes are shoot then?
Guest razazteca Report post Posted November 3, 2002 I think the Lucha Commission is a real governing body just like the NWA.

Guest BobBarnett Report post Posted November 3, 2002 Buy a best of tape from Bob!! forget Vampiro GDI are the true talent of CMLL. Uhh-Vamp is the one that is teaching them strongstyle-and books all their matches when they face each other.. Wait until you see WR38A-with the unedited Anniversary show footage-where Vamp belly to bellys Rey Bucanero from the ring to the floor.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted November 4, 2002 that maybe true god-Bob but I really do not enjoy Vampiro matches, he maybe a great teacher but his ring work seems to need something more, it maybe from injuries or whatever but I really do not mark out for his matches. gdi, shocker, dr wagner, black warrior, black tiger, hombre sin nobre are still may favorites
Guest dc_tapes Report post Posted November 4, 2002 I finally found lucha again! I turned on the tv at like 5:30 here in AZ and saw the last 2 falls of the Bucanero/Guerrero/Wagner vs. Vampiro/Niebla/Lizmark match, please tell me I didn't miss anything awesome in the first fall!
