Guest Banky Report post Posted October 29, 2002 I don't flame DJ Jeff (and I haven't really even flamed him in a long time) to curry favor with anybody. In fact, the first time I went off on him, I was a little worried people would take me to task for picking on such a "nice guy." I won't speak for CWM. I stayed out of the whole Kinetic confrontation because I like both of you. Yea, I wouldn't expect you to take sides either cause the whole thing was retarded. Ironically, I got worked up over a message board when I was making fun of people for taking it too seriously. Looking back in retrospect, I acted like a dick - but now I've opened my eyes to the shit that sometimes occurs here. thus, I must come to the rescue of people who i feel, for the most part, are unjustifiably flamed because its the "cool thing" to do. Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted October 29, 2002 I don't want to seem like I'm sucking your dick here or anything, but I can understand that. Partly why I no longer flame DJ Jeff myself is because every bland poster around here does it just to fit in.
Guest Banky Report post Posted October 29, 2002 Partly why I no longer flame DJ Jeff myself is because every bland poster around here does it just to fit in. That is 100% true, make no bones about it. One person starts a rallying cry, his mob of 30 followers is close behind. I am glad you notice this, and it isn't just my pessimism of message boards taking over.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted October 29, 2002 The thing about Jeff is, he seems to enjoy being flamed, in some roundabout way. I mean, everytime he posts one of his banners up here, he gets the same reaction. 'It sucks', 'The pictures are stretched', etc. He must know that that is not likely to change as long as bashing him is the 'cool' thing to do. It's good that he wants feedback on his banners, but he should realize to lay back for a little while, until all this hate dies down, and people have a new pastime. Guest Paranoid Report post Posted October 29, 2002 Its not THAT bad, maybe I am just lumping you in with the Establishment ass kissers who have no pride or respect for themselves. They are putting validation on a message board into the hands of these self-imposed cool kids. Hate to say it, but CWM is quite the shameless ass kisser. One day carrying my jock, the next telling me to shut up. Quite a tragic tale. I think that is the point of the etsablishment, isn't it? And what does that say for the people kissing up to them? Hey, I was taking up for them. Authority rules when you have it. Even if it's just make believe internet forum authority!

Boy I wish I could be the imaginary boss over 13 year olds on a message board. I'll exploit their immaturiy and niavity so I can feel better about myself. I came in on the whole "your banners sucks" thing. I really just ignored it mostly. Then when he offered to make me a banner, I was like sure. Hell, I figured he must be an alright guy to offer to do it. I think he did a pretty damn good job. I believe that there is some part of Jeff that likes the attention, but that is in all of us. To some extent or another, we all want some attention. But he makes a pretty damn good banner!

Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted October 29, 2002 I'm totally against people kissing our asses. That's why none of the little sycophants were nominated this week. I can't stand people like that. For the record, I disliked Banky/Fletch until I realized it was just an act and he's an all right guy. I still think that. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted October 29, 2002 I noticed a little Banky backlash in this folder after my outburst last night, too. It's either a case of people genuinely disliking you and just waiting for someone smarter to validate their opinion, or it's the bandwagonism that plagues this and every other message board. If someone with a high post count and a good reputation spoke out against maple syrup, there'd be threads full of anti-maple syrup posts here in the morning. That's just how it works. I can't stand people like that. Then what is the point of having an "established" clique? Since it's the "Establishment", that is asking for people to kiss your ass, regardless of whether it's meant "in fun" or not. No matter how you mean it, there are those who will take it seriously on both sides, and will get pissy if they don't get their asses kissed, or they will incessantly kiss your asses. Just saying. Guest Kinetic Report post Posted October 29, 2002 I would like to, at this point, declare a distaste for maple syrup. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge That's too bad, as I consider maple syrup to be one of God's finest creations. This is going to create a tremendous rift amongst the ass-kissers. I can feel it. Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted October 29, 2002 MAPLE SYRUP SUX0RS, P00PHED!!! But seriously, I look at our group as a way to define the true quality posters of the board, not whoever can rack up the most posts or be registered for a long time. </diplomatic mode> Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted October 29, 2002 I never saw the Establishment as people looking to have their asses kissed. I see it as a group of people saying that they're better than everyone else. And if people got in by kissing ass, than it would make the group much less "prestigious." It would just be ten established posters and a bunch of ass kissing losers. I put prestigious in quotes because in a sense it's an unfortunate way to phrase it, but it's the best word I can think of at the moment.

Guest Kinetic Report post Posted October 29, 2002 I joined the Establishment because I was asked to and because I saw it as a way for me to insult a broader group of people. I have no grand vision for it, nor have I gone to any great lengths to analyze what its purpose is. It's just a fairly amusing way for a group of people to declare their superiority on an wrestling message board. I also thought we were going to be getting a banner. Whatever happened to that? Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted October 29, 2002 Maybe when we induct someone who knows how to make them we'll get one. I know I'm not using the one CWM has. I envision something great, something that has elements of each of the Original Six in it. NO MA'AM symbol for Rant, KYLIE~! for me, ALF for Incandenza, Cobain for CWM, Metal Ed for Kinetic, and Test for Anglesault. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted October 29, 2002 I think Jeff did a pretty good job on your X-Files banner. There's a certain irony involved in an Establishment banner being made by DJ Jeff. I think that would be pretty interesting. EDIT: The first sentence was addressed to Paranoid.
Guest Cerebus The Aardvark Report post Posted October 29, 2002 I joined the Establishment because I was asked to and because I saw it as a way for me to insult a broader group of people. I assume you mean that it allows you to insult everyone outside the "Establishment"...but why couldn't you insult those people before that? Maybe I'm missing your point there, but you can insult as many people as you want at any time; joining a posting clique doesn't really change the parameters of the board (and, more specifically, its members) as far as insults go. But okey dokey.

But okey dokey. He has a point. In a way it has almost restricted your ability to insult people because you can't really insult fellow establishment members. Though on the other hand, when you insult people now, it will hurt that much more because they will have to acknowledge your superiority, whereas before it was only a vague inkling they had in the back of their mind. Being in a posting clique sets up guideposts to show me where my services might be needed, whereas before I would only insult people that I felt really deserved it for speaking foolishly about topics I have an interest in. Now I'm a little more confident that I can randomly insult people for no particular reason other than official Establishment business. It's opened up a lot of doors for me as far as creative freedom is concerned. I feel liberated.
