Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted March 20, 2003 One of the interesting things about the ep no one has mentioned is how Cordy threw Connor up against the wall while the anti-demon spell was still up. So, does that mean she isn't a demon? Is her kid fully demon then? Questions, questions.
Guest Mole Report post Posted March 20, 2003 I'm not aware of the spell in the first place, I just started watching this season 3 weeks ago. Can someone fill me in on this season? Please?
Guest KingOfOldSchool Report post Posted March 20, 2003 You missed it then. Because it was only two eps ago when they put the spell in place, in order to counteract Angelus if he ever showed up. Anyway. I missed the latest ep due to the war coverage (my WB station decided to air the CNN feed, before breaking into the Bush speech, then going back to the CNN stuff. Hopefully they'll re-air the episode this weekend or something.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 21, 2003 The anti-demon spell was first used in lornes night club - which was a safe-house for demons where they could relax and have fun, sing and get read. Cordy is probably just too powerful for the demon thing..
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Connor even asked about the anti-demon spell when she slammed him against the wall. I'm guessing she used her powers to override it.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Can I just say that "Orpheus" was a great name for this episode? Father/son and all, representations of hell...thumbs up. Could you refresh my memory of the Orpheus story? I got the Orpheus/Eurydice parallel, but I don't remember anything else that applied to this episode. Oh, and "Orpheus" will be shown again on Sunday at 9pm.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Maybe he is thinking about Oedipus...
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2003 Well the drug was called Orpheus. I don't know a whole lot about Greek Mythology so I'm not sure on the Orpheus story.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 21, 2003 I was just reading up on it - Orpheus lost his wife and went into hell to find her.

Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2003 OK let me see if I can dredge up my old high scool lit stuff. Orpheus was a world (as much world as they knew about) famous mythilogical musician. On his wedding day his wife got bitten by an adder and died. Distraught, Orpheus went to the Underworld to either bring her back or stay with her forever. He used his music to charm the ferryman to take him across the River Styx, charmed Cerebrus (3 headed dog that guarded the Underworld) and brought tears to the eyes of Hades and Persephone (king and queen of the Underworld). Hades allowed Orpheus to take his wife's shade back up to Earth as long as he didn't look back at her until they reached the surface. He made it all the way up to the surface, but turned around to look before she reached the surface, losing her forever. He wandered the Earth in anguish until he was murdered by followers of Pan for one reason or another. I don't know why I bothered to relate all this on an Angel thread, but there ya go. Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted March 26, 2003 Booooo! To any Canadians out there: where's our new ep of Angel? The TV Listings over at mybc.com said it was supposed to be on after Buffy, yet it's just a Buffy rerun. LaParkaMarka...angry!
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 26, 2003 WHOO!!! In 19 minutes or so I'll have the newest episode!!! In the morning I may actually be able to contribute to the thread.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted March 26, 2003 Charisma gave birth on Monday. No word yet on whether or not it's a demon beast-child. I wonder how many more episodes they have left to film this season.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 26, 2003 Good for her.... Season Ruiner... Angel replays at 9 on Space, so the new eps SHOULD be there.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 26, 2003 6 episodes left. I'm still not digging the heel Cordy, I dunno, it's just not doing it for me. Also hated seeing the Beast go so easily, I thought he was a great bad guy. I loved Angelus watching flashbacks off good deeds Angel has done...especially the dog. Angelus: "And this is for all of the Barry Manilow concerts!" *WHACK!* Nice to see Aly on Angel, even if it's only a one shot. I was a little suprised that they killed off all the lawyers. They've been the main bad guys for a while. Wouldn't be shocked if "The Senior Partners" were to show back up though. And dammit, it's about time Andy Hallett was put in the opening credits! Although I thought it was an Amber Benson tease cause they didn't put her in the credits till the episode they killed her off on[/img] I thought the season was off to a slow start, picked up around episode 7 (debut of The Beast) When's the next new ep? Guest Mole Report post Posted March 27, 2003 You don't get WB? And I am watching it right now, who the fuck is Gwen??
Guest Cavi Report post Posted March 27, 2003 Gwen first appeared in "Ground State", the second episode of this season. Ever since her adolescence, she has had this power of electricity as she had been hit by lightning numerous times. She is now a thief. In said episode, she killed Gunn. She used her power to jump start his heart again though. As for tonight's ep, I liked it. Gunn was kicking some major ass there (I loved that slow motion shot when he flipped that guy over with the stick and then adjusted his collar).
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 27, 2003 You don't get WB? And I am watching it right now, who the fuck is Gwen?? No WB for ol Youthy...I know a guy who sends me Angel episodes, sent me all of last season and the first 12 of this season, but after 12 I downloaded the rest. I'm just starting to download Smallville eps now. Good show. But now I stay outta the thread till I see the newest ep.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 27, 2003 I liked Gunn at first, then when he hooked up with Fred I didn't really like him esp. when he was hatin, but now it has come full circle... Gunn is badass... The ending was super cool cause I really fucking hate Spoiler (Highlight to Read): cordy and I wish death upon Spoiler (Highlight to Read): her and Spoiler (Highlight to Read): her stupid Spoiler (Highlight to Read): baby ... Spoiler (Highlight to Read): She is such a fucking season wrecking Spoiler (Highlight to Read): bitch who really should fucking get killed by the motherfucking BEAST. YEAH! Connor is still a putz but I like how he is being manipulated cause he is such a putz. Gunn and Gwens 'interactions' were great and I like how wes' line came full circle ("It's more than just holding hands".) Is anyone else a lil disturbed by the oedipusness Joss has unleashed this season on both shows? First Cordy and Connor and now Spike, good lord man every one is a dirty motherfucker on this show.. Freud's on line one and he's scared...REAL scared... and coked up...REAL coked up.

Guest areacode212 Report post Posted March 27, 2003 Say, I was only half-paying attention (I was perusing a takeout menu for what I was going to have for dinner), but was that... Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Nice, "baby soul" Darla, saying "listen to your heart" in the preview for next week? Awesome! I've always been a mark for Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Julie Benz , and I sure can't get enough of her.

Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 27, 2003 Cordy played the motherly role for Connor. Which is why everyone thought (on the show, in character) it was icky.
