If he doesn't, I probably wouldn't be as big of a 24 fanboy as I am.

Can someone give me a quick synopsis of this season? Spoiler free? Thanks.

There's a nuclear bomb in Los Angeles set to go off today.

That's pretty much all you need to know, non-spoiler wise.

I know it's unlikely, but I'm actually thinking Jack might not make it this season! We know SOMEBODY will die, but it can't be Jack, right? RIGHT?!?! :(

Well, they probably filmed multiple endings, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was one result (if, say, Kiefer didn't want to continue).

I was happy to see that Jack was FINALLY selling some of his injuries. The amount of punishment he was taking was insane, and his no-selling was bordering on ludicrous...

Supposedly in last week's episode, there was an extremely brief shot of Jack clutching his chest. So yeah, it's nice to see that they haven't forgotten that he isn't Superman. Maybe the season will end with Jack slipping into a coma or something lame-ass like that.

That article above mentioned something about a possible 24 movie. I wonder if it would be in real-time, or if they'd go for a more traditional approach. Sometimes I wonder if the writers would like to tell a Jack Bauer story that isn't constrained by the real-time gimmick.

Yep, it was in a split screen shot when they were coming back from commercials. I found it hilarious, because I thought it meant nothing.

I have to say though, in regards to the finale: I'm just not feeling it.

It just doesn't seem like they're building up to anything. It feels like next week will just be a normal episode.

I'm getting that feeling too.

I just don't think that they can wrap everything up that's going on right now in just 1 hour.

So, Kingsley will probably get killed, Sherri might eat a bullet, Tony and Michelle might get transferred, and Jack might finally kiss Kate.

Remaining questions:

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

What about the guy on the boat? What happens to Palmer? What about Lynne?

Season 3 should be a doozy.

Lynne's probably done, and it's not that I don't think they can wrap everything up, it's just that I don't care about Kingsley. At least not to the level of him being a big bad. We've seen him answer to superiors MULTIPLE times, so why am I supposed to think that killing him will do anything?

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Plus Kate's coming back next year, supposedly, so she won't die. How dissapointing

I think that is why I am a little underwhelmed. There is no big bad they are dealing with. It should set up Season 3 nicely with a big bad right out of the gate but it kind of leaves this season a little flat.

I think I'd still be hyped if they were still dealing with the bomb, and Kingsley was just another guy to give them info on how to stop it, and he was finished 4 hours ago or so.

face it, a shootout at the LA Colliseum will be pretty huge. The public will finally be finding out about Palmer being ousted as President just as the bombers are droping bombs. All 3 of these events, plus some Kate/Kim hillarity will happen in the last half an hour. Its going to prove rather interesting putting all three or four of those events up against each other right at the last few seconds.

And don't forget the wacky Tony/Michelle vs. Carrie/Chappelle hijinx.

Yeah, the finale will probably be exciting to watch, but right now, I'm not feeling it either. But I think I'll save my criticisms until after the season finale (unless it's so unbelievably kickass that it makes me forgive everything else).

Now that I think about it, I think I know one of the main problems with this season.

It's just not personal at all to Jack. I'm not saying I want Kim kidnapped over and over again, but they need something for next season to make it seem like it's not just Jack doing his job.

Yes, that was one of my gripes, too. Especially since (once the bomb went off) much of the tension comes from events that are pretty hard to swallow (the CooCooCoup, the "20,000" casualties figure, etc...). A lot of the implausibilities worked last season because both Jack and the audience were emotionally caught up with Teri, Kim, etc. This time around, Jack didn't even know about half the stuff that Kim was up to, so we didn't get to experience his reactions to what was happening to her. He didn't get to play the "worried father" except in a few brief instances. Even though some people didn't like the Bauer women last year, most viewers had some level of emotional investment in their well-being. But now, is there anyone watching who *really* cares whether or not 3 Middle Eastern countries get bombed? Sorry, but I'm having a hard time giving a shit.

Plus, the villains were more fleshed out and interesting last year (Gaines, LadyMac, the Drazens) compared to this year. Kingsley? Syed Ali? Bored now!! Same goes for the females. Reiko & Sarah Wynter don't have the charisma or personality of Sarah Clarke & Leslie Hope.

I'll rant some more when the season wraps up.

When the season ends, I'll prolly watch the whole season again in order and judge it then.

I think we're just spoiled because Season 1 was so good

There was also a LOT more hype for this season then the last. Remember that this is the same show that debuted and almost didnt make it halfway through the first season because Fox didn't hype it that well and it started later than all the other new shows. One of the few wise choices FOX has made in a while was to renew it for the rest of the first season and by doing that it managed to garner a lot of interest mainly because they were running new episodes when all the other shows were in reruns after the sweeps.

This year, you had TV Guide, EW and a slew of others highly touting 24 as one of the best shows of the season. Fox did 24 another huge favor this year, and that was putting American Idol on before it. 24 has an approximately 25% bigger audience since then (by my estimates) and I can't imagine how hyped 24 will be next season.

Yes, this season has been slightly disappointing, but its still been a good show and if they do go with the cliffhanger into next season, then I think the payoff of next season being better because of it is fine by me.

Lets get hyped, Start a day early!!

I haven't been this pumped for an episode since last season's finale, and the main reason, we really don't know what will happen and I'm hoping for a great ending no matter what, even if there is a cliffhanger for next season.

Well, I was shocked at how things turned out.

No spoilers though...I promised.

Don't know how I'll go a whole day without spoiling it for someone though..

Side Note: I just found this article abou the 25th Amendment:

Q: The 25th Amendment recently has moved along the plots of "24" and "The West Wing." When did it become part of the U.S. Constitution and why?

— E.C.

A: This amendment was ratified in 1967. Proposed in response to the assassination of President Kennedy, the 25th Amendment includes a provision stating the vice president becomes president in the event of the death, removal or resignation of the president. In addition, "it provides for installing the vice president as acting president while the president is incapacitated, either at the president's initiative or the initiative of other high executive branch officials," says Bruce Buchanan, professor of government at the University of Texas.

The possibility of another dead or incapacitated president prompted lawmakers to frame the amendment and formalize the established practice of swearing in the vice president upon the death of the president.

The amendment has been invoked several times in cases of succession ( the swearing-in of Gerald Ford as president after Richard Nixon resigned, Nelson Rockefeller replacing Spiro Agnew, who resigned, as vice president) as well as temporary incapacity (by President Reagan for an operation and by President George W. Bush during a brief medical procedure last June). Acting president status does not require a formal swearing in.

So it seems as if what happened was at least plausible in the context of the amendment itself.

WOW.

That was a pretty hot season finale. My question is: Who the hell was that that got Palmer at the end? New character or somebody from the past?

Wow, that was pretty awesome. The last things we hear are Palmer's final breaths. As soon as I saw the back of the woman's head, I yelled "Mandy!!". Loved the shootout at the L.A. Coliseum. Hated the commercials.

So, will Sherry be back next year? With Palmer gone, will she still have a reason to stick around on the show?

Great Finale that wrapped up some details and set up the start of next season...

The Presidental Assassination was a shock but totaally given away the SECOND they had Palmer standing in a open crowd...

So...Season Three is merely an Off-Shoot of this season?

Ok...Who initally thought it was NINA that was in the Black wig...

and who the fuck was that chick anyhow?

It was, if I remember correctly, Mandy, from the first season. Areacode or Dames might be able to flesh this out, but I believe she was the woman who blew up the plane in, like, the first episode of 24 ever. She was out of play by the 4th or 5th episode of the first season, with the guy who needed the ID card she stole sending her off and telling her to wait for more orders.

That, my friends, is fucking sweet.

So does Palmer die, or does he make it? They're obviously going for an assassination, but man, it'll suck if Dennis Haysbert isn't on next year. Maybe, uh, miraculous recovery, still a war?

Well, this certainly gives them a lot of room to work whether or not they can get him. I guess with all the praise he got in Far From Heaven, he might be moving on...or maybe the writers are just evil, evil people.
