Guest humanoid92 Report post Posted October 30, 2002 The other thread about dream DVD's got me thinking, so I compiled a list of WWF matches I'd like to see for my favorite wrestler of all time, Bret Hart. I made a list of 100 matches (with an additional 25 "bonus matches"), some famous, some rare, that I'd like to see. I realize such a long list is completely unrealistic (this is more of a fantasy type thread), but I wanted to be complete. I included singles matches from his tag team days, tag team matches from his singles days, every title switch, classic matches, as well as token matches, and random rare ones that aren't exactly notable but are cool to own just for the hell of it. And then there's some unsung classics. So, anyway here's my list: September 1985- Bret Hart vs. Tito Santana May 1986- Hart Foundation vs. British Bulldogs June 1986- Bret Hart vs. Dynamite Kid July 1986- Hart Foundation vs. British Bulldogs (Cage) August 1986- Bret Hart vs. Ricky Steamboat September 1986- Hart Foundation vs. British Bulldogs (2 out of 3 Falls) January 1987- Hart Foundation vs. British Bulldogs (Title switch) Guest Grenouille Report post Posted October 30, 2002 Pretty good, right now the only thing I can remember to add is a Hart Foundation VS LOD match from '91. It was on a Super Tape or Wrestlefest, I'm not sure which one.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted October 30, 2002 Why not just post it in that thread??

It was on a Super Tape or Wrestlefest, I'm not sure which one. It was Wrestlefest 91. I'm fairly certain it took place in Las Vegas a day or two after WrestleMania VII. cawthon777 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2002 December 1987- Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels Are you sure about the date on that? I know they had one TV match when they were tag wrestlers; I think it was sometime in 89 or 90. Ended in a draw. I'd like to see the Bret Hart / Yokozuna match from Toronto a few weeks before WrestleMania XI, the MSG match against the Undertaker in February 92, the Headlock on Hunger MSG match with him against Bam Bam Bigelow, and I know the Harts had a cage match against the Bulldogs in Calgary (Harts were champs). I would be the first in line if this was ever released.

Guest Big McLargeHuge Report post Posted October 31, 2002 You've got your title wins mixed up. His second was WM 10. His third SurS 95. And his fourth at Final Four. And I would add HF vs. Demos from SS 90, just for the hell of it.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted October 31, 2002 Another 2 token matches that'd be cool to insert: Hart Foundation vs. Fabulous Rougeaus w/ Brother Love as Guest Referee Bret Hart winning 16-Man Battle Royal from Cobbs Coliseum in Canada In case you haven't noticed, these matches are from Best of WWF Volume 20. Oh yeah, Bret's match vs. Ted DiBiase on Best of WWF Volume 19 was also a keeper.

I know they had one TV match when they were tag wrestlers; I think it was sometime in 89 or 90. Ended in a draw. For some strange reason I actually have this match on tape and it really isn't that good. I'm pretty sure that Neidhart and Jannetty were at ringside and had something to do with the match. Guest JHawk Report post Posted November 4, 2002 I like the initial list, but I'm not sure I'd include matches where the guy lost if I was trying to remember him positively unless it was really good.
Guest Midnight Express83 Report post Posted November 4, 2002 Well a two disk DVD can only hold 6 hours of stuff. So a 90 min fluff takes up part of it and you have 4 and half hours of wrestling to show. Now: With that time here are some of the matches I want: All digitally remasted. August 1990- Hart Foundation vs. Demolition (Title switch, Summerslam 1990) August 1991- Bret Hart vs. Mr. Perfect (Title switch, Summerslam 1991) 18:03 September 1991- Bret Hart vs. Ricky Steamboat October 1991- Bret Hart vs. Ric Flair January 1987- Hart Foundation vs. British Bulldogs (Title switch) September 1986- Hart Foundation vs. British Bulldogs (2 out of 3 Falls) vs. Ricky Steamboat at the Boston Garden w/Neidhart vs. Rockers (phantom title switch) vs. Roddy Piper- WM 8 vs. British Bulldog - Summerslam 1992 vs. Ric Flair in Saskatoon (Bret wins first WWF title) vs. Owen Hart - WM 10 vs. Diesel - Survivor Series 1995 (2nd WWF Title Win) vs. Austin - Survivor Series 1996 vs. Austin- Wrestlemania 13 Canadian Stampede 10-man vs. Benoit- Nitro tribute match

cawthon777 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2002 September 1991- Bret Hart vs. Ricky Steamboat Never happened as far as I know. Their only match was at the Boston Gardens in 86, I believe shortly before WrestleMania II.
Guest Loss4Words Report post Posted November 10, 2002 The Bret Hart v 1-2-3 Kid match from the 07/01/94 RAW was total PPV quality and a forgotten classic that still holds up today after repeated viewings. I guess the reason it doesn't get much love is that it was never released commercially. But it's a **** or better match.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted November 10, 2002 Bret vs. Dynamite Kid from 1985 should be added as well. It was a classic old school battle.

Guest Loss4Words Report post Posted November 10, 2002 They did. The match has its flaws, but Waltman plays the upstart face very well and Bret plays the proud champion with very very subtle heel tendencies quite well too. The restart hurt the match a little, yet for some reason, the WWF has always been in love with them. The story of the match is that Kid is pushing Bret a little further than he expected to begin things and Bret seeming genuinely surprised. He finally starts getting frustrated that Kid is outwrestling him and picks up his aggression and tries to ground Kid and neutralize his speed. Kid keeps making well-timed comebacks and Bret finally gets him at a point where he can pin him. He gets a three count and the referee does not see but Kid's foot is on the rope. Bret now has a dilemma. This is a hell of a challenger and he didn't expect this title defense to be quite so demanding. Do you take the victory any way you can get it or do you keep the spirit of competition alive and point out to the ref what happened? Bret, proud champion, took the high road and as soon as he has his back turned, Kid rolls him up for a VERY close nearfall and almost wins the title. Bret becomes frustrated once again and again, he turns the aggression up a notch on his crafty opponent. Kid finally makes a legitimate, full-fledged comeback, comes within a fraction of an eyelash of winning the title on several occasions but Kid's inexperience comes into play. Bret is down and instead of trying to pin him, he goes up top again. Bret, the wily veteran, is playing possum and then catches Kid in the sharpshooter in a desperate attempt to get this match over with. Kid knows his fate is sealed and decides to fight another day and Bret walks out still the champ. Hey, HHH, THAT'S how you elevate a challenger and keep yourself strong at the same time. Look into it.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2002 I'll tell you this much: Stuart Max gave it the same rating that he did for Rock-Austin from WMX7(A modest but fair ***1/4), and he watched a clipped version. Suffice it to say, the match was DAMN good. I can't add much, but I'd like for a "shootish" kind of interview to be added, just to let him have a final say and finally get his side of the story to the WWE fans, as only the internet crowd has heard what he has had to say...
