Guest MrRant Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 How is it dumb? Should we not use gay in the terms that it was used in the past to mean happiness? Should we not say that so that way we don't piss someone off? Hmmmm?
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 that's gay rant. Happy?
Guest HungryJack Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 dumbasses . And why is it assumed that simply because a person started POSTING a month ago , that they've only been around for that month . The concept of lurking to get the feel of a place apparently escapes most here.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 Let's start calling people who post in "gay threads" fags while we're at it. Am I the only person who really understands why the difference is made between the words? Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Texas Small Arms 09 Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 On an off topic for a moment, I have a question for you MrRant. What are your feelings if a member of No Ma'am refuses to watch his god on TV. I was just curious because last night was the episode were Al and the No Ma'amers had to judge a hooters contest at the Jiggly Room and Peg dressed as a stripper to fool Al.
Guest MrRant Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 I don't take gay as to just mean homosexual. I take it to mean happy, etc.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 Then calling something stupid gay would make even less sense, wouldn't it? Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest MrRant Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 Refuses to watch with no suitable excuse? Like they were at work etc? It calls for 26,002 WHOA~! Bundys, 2 six packs of beer in offering and sex with the wife.
Guest bob_barron Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 dumbasses . And why is it assumed that simply because a person started POSTING a month ago , that they've only been around for that month . The concept of lurking to get the feel of a place apparently escapes most here. Because he never mentioned he had been lurking
Guest The Man in Blak Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 No, "ghey" was made up because calling something stupid "gay" was just plain dumb. That's like saying a black dude is lame by calling him white or something. Of course, I have yet to run into a black dude who didn't put a white dude to shame with his overwhelming coolness. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge Also BZZZZZZT. ghey= made up because it sounds cooler. Close...but there's some important context missing here. *sigh* All right...let me brush off the ol' TSM hist'ry books 'ere. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once upon a time, in a more peaceful time when Mike Micasa still did news updates, the Smart Marks were simply known as the Smarks and were a simple republic ran by two men: Scott Keith and Don Becker. (We're going to neglect Shannon for the time being...'cause he's a mental case.) From the popular Smarks site grew a very popular Delphi and, eventually, eZboard community where the people congregated to bitch about many a thing. Eventually, these people started grouping into little groups that we now know and love as the posting clique. My memory's a little hazy, but I think the first one was the Inner Circle - someone like CJ or one of the WDI elders who actually posted around that time may be able to pinpoint it more accurately. Anyways, these posting cliques wreaked havoc upon the board, setting children on fire, kicking old ladies, setting all televisions to PBS, and other dastardly things. Eventually, the people in charge had to deal with it and, thus, Don Becker decreed: "Posting cliques are gay." Now, being the silly-ass people that they were (are?), a group of people took this statement and RAN with it...forming the Ghey Posting Clique and essentially coining the term "ghey" as a smart-assed reaction to Herr Becker...or to calling things gay. One of the two.
Guest Texas Small Arms 09 Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 That's harsh, but fair I think
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 I don't give a shit about the history, that's just why I say it, because people use it in ordinary conversation around here. I was getting rather tired of hearing things that people didn't like as "gay," so when I saw "ghey," I adapted it sort of. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest AM The Kid Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 I prefer gay...just quicker to type.
Guest treble charged Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 What a buncha fags. You're one to talk.
Guest Anglesault Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 As are you, you finook strunz
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 anglesault you've got the least room to talk of all of us...other than Agnes.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 How did homophobia come into play? For the record, in real life I try and correct people when they say "gay" meaning stupid or dumb or something they don't like (because its negative association, even if its not implied as such). However, so many people use it so casually now, that I rarely bother anymore, too much work. I very rarely correct someone's language online unless they use it a lot or in a purposefully offensive manner.
Guest treble charged Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 I don't think there's really any homophobia. Just people discussing the different connotations of the words 'gay' and 'ghey' (if that is actually considered a word).
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 holy crap...I just had a "gPc" flashback... AHHHHHHH~!
Guest evenflowDDT Posted November 3, 2002 Report Posted November 3, 2002 I don't think there's really any homophobia. Guest thesmartmark Posted November 4, 2002 Report Posted November 4, 2002 No I don't know you but I do know that you are a moron that has to resort to name calling to try to prove his argument, very childish. Unless I am missing something, you don't know me either. I do have a life unlike someone who has more than 1000 posts, I think everyone can see who doesn't have a life here. Is the lamest card a person can play in the flaming folder the card that says "Ah, you can't flame someone without using, (gasp) a CUSS WORD! You are automatically a moron." ? I haven't seen an intelligent phrase out of you yet, Einstein. Just the same crap harped on over and over again, "The post quality has gone down in a month!" "The board is sliding!" "The sky is falling!" Whatever. Why don't YOU just admit that your post, while not only unneccesary, was just some pointless flame bait designed to get yourself some attention rather than actually prove a point (which you have yet to do with a decent example). It's been repeated a hundered times already, and either you were just too offended by those naughty curse words to see it, or else you're an illiterate twat, but I feel it still applies: If you don't like it here, go post at DJ Jeff's board or something. "Post quality" is something that can only be done by quality posters. Let me tell you, NHB and WWE are not the folders to see just that. In WWE, you've got a bunch of newbie marks, and in here, there's dumbshits who think they've actually got a point saying this board's going to pot, just like yourself. If you think a good reply, or "quality post" as you call it, is best described as the false high-road tripe I've quoted above from you, not only are you a whiner, but you're an ass. I have stated examples and proved my point. I am sorry if you are to big of a cry baby to admit that. And bob I did state that I had been lurking. It was in my original post. It was implied. But some people aren't smart enough to realize that.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted November 4, 2002 Report Posted November 4, 2002 Ugh, this thread was dying, why was it brought back? Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Leena Posted November 4, 2002 Report Posted November 4, 2002 Yes, please kill it. Ballston. Ballston, indeed.
Guest Incandenza Posted November 4, 2002 Report Posted November 4, 2002 The sexual tension is THICK~!
Guest thesmartmark Posted November 4, 2002 Report Posted November 4, 2002 Ugh, this thread was dying, why was it brought back? Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge After a long day of college football and beer, I was wayyyy to drunk to try to reply last. I slept my hangover off today and am ready to reply to those who need it. Sorry!
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted November 4, 2002 Report Posted November 4, 2002 How did Ballston get into this? (shudders) No one here saw the horror... Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted November 4, 2002 Report Posted November 4, 2002 Trust me, no one wants to read your replies. All you've got is a bunch of hot air and a few tired responses people have been using since Message Boards were invented.
