Most Overated WWE worker

His performance with RVD was that of someone trying to do the impossible with RVD, and that's have a sound wrestling match with him. Benoit did all he could to make this possible, but RVD didn't follow along, to say the least, and the result was an overblown crap-fest exposing RVD as an incapable worker and giving Benoit a flat win to cap off an already stagnant return. I doubt even '96 Benoit could have walked RVD through this, so any chances '02 Benoit so were obviously unlikely.

Oh god, not another argument about the Benoit-RVD matches. Please.

I can already feel another headache coming on.

Booker T. In ring perfomance sucks and his mic skills aren't what people make them out to be either.

Why, so you have to argue about those stupid little concepts like "timing" and "excecution"?

There's no arguement, as far as I'm concerned. At least not one that I intend to partake in.

No, not me, the people that get indignant when RVD's flaws get pointed out (which doesn't happen all that often for that very reason).

Hey, I like RVD, but I can recognize areas where work is needed.

I've seen that sort of the thing from the usual posters here, but seems that Rob's biggest supporters (mainly bps21) realize his ineptness in understanding the components of a good match, even if they're big marks for him regardless. Something's better than nothing, I suppose.

Chris Jericho: As much as I love his character, this guy is just simply not up with the Guerreros, the Angles, and the Benoits of the world. His popularity among smarks can probably be traced back to HHH's dislike of him, as anyone that public enemy numero uno (Trips) doesn't want to get over, suddenly becomes everyone's poster boy for poor, under-pushed wrestlers.

I'll add another vote for HHH from 2000. He did have good matches on PPV a lot, but at that same time everyone was having them (The Rock, Benoit, Jericho, Mick Foley, later Angle, etc. etc.). The most overrated HHH stuff has to be his RAW matches with Jericho and Taka Michinoku. I think if people on the net weren't total marks for those two and the fact that they both "nearly" won the title they would realise what steaming piles of shit these overbooked matches were. Dusty Finish, multiple run-ins, but that's ok because HHH sold for a "smark" wrestler right? Wrong. His title match on RAW with Billy Gunn from the same time period was better and more compelling, and they actually did make it look like Gunn could win the title on something other than a fluke.

Well, ignoring those who outright stink (HHH, Big Show, Undertaker).

Booker T.

Everyone seems to love him for some reason...but I've yet to see a really good match from him in the WWE and his promo skills are awful (it was Goldust that made the Booker/Goldust team funny...not Booker).

Matt Hardy.

I like him, but I'm hardly as hyped up about "Mattitude" as most people seem to be.

Kane.

Some people seem to think this guy has some potential. You're fooling yourselves...he has none, this guy has a cool looking mask and a good entrace, but once the entrace is over...it's all crap.

the match with billy gunn? is that the same match where he got blown up a minute in from a gorilla press, & later executed the single worst jackhammer in the history of professional wrestling?

i toss my vote in for jericho. he's been dogging it in the ring since february, and i don't care about him anymore. i don't see how anyone thinks he makes raw worth watching, cause he hasn't really done anything worth watching in a while.

and i don't think anybody here is really under the impression that booker t is a good worker. they appreciate him for what he is: a very charismatic mediocre worker who works harder than almost anyone on the raw roster & is always entertaining. even though he's not a great wrestler, i still love booker t because he's so much fun to watch.

The thing with Dreamer is on the indy circuit this last year, he was doing the "touring vet" thing and going around doing these Puerto Rican influenced brawls where they'd be in the corwd and using all kind of weapons that were on hand and bringing the psych and all, and working his ass off and connecting with the crowd and that's where he earned it in my opinion.

I never understood the Smark Appreciation for Justin Credible. I think it was just because he was ECW, and Heyman's Pet Peeve for a while there.

Same goes for Mike Awesome. I've never seen his Japan work though.

He's not in the WWE, but I think Shane Douglas is WAY Overrated. Granted, he was a Tough SOB, he worked through injuries, etc, but he wasn't anything great in the ring. He took and gave out all the ECW spots, bumps, chair shots, stick shots, whatever, but that doesn't make you a Good worker. He's not as bad as Sabu, though.

I think Douglas had some great work before coming to the WWF. But I think alot of the love is from Shane's character in ECW becoming so far developed and ahead of its time in that respect. The sit-down interview, for example.

Oh, his Character was Good. His promos were overrated though. Usually just a bunch of Cheap heat by bashing Flair, Shawn Michaels and the rest of the "Clique" and WWF. Also, Swearing up a storm and yelling doesn't make you have charisma and cut a good promo.

People talk about Bret Hart being a whinner, Bret has Nothing on Shane Douglas.

Benoit is only overrated in the "Scott Keith gives a match with him in it an automatic 5 snowflakes" kind of way. Other than that, he's a perfect upper midcarder who has good matches with everyone and makes most of them look good in the process. Sure, there are things I would have him do differently if I was ruler of the universe and had command over wrestlers, but they're all minor stuff.

Jericho annoys me to no end. I hate his moveset with a passion and don't care for his whiney, annoying heel character. I don't miss him a bit since he went off to RAW.

Regal hasn't had a good match in years now. Enough with the "adjustment to WWE style" crap. He's just not that good anymore.

As the title is "Most Overrated WWE Worker", then Chris Benoit doens't even come into the equation.

If Shawn Michaels counts, i'll go for him.

Definately Michaels, I'm an RVD mark too, but jesus, he's overrated. I don't know if anybody's mentioned it in this thread as I haven't looked through it all but you can't spell overrated without R-V-D.

"As an entertainer, however, Benoit... is boring"

Umm....no. He entertains the hell out of me. I and many others(try all my friends who are NOT smarks in the least bit) find him entertaining as hell.

I second that notion Damaramu, I'm quite entertained when Benoit is in the ring.

Chalk up another vote for ANYTHING Triple H. I don't mean to sound like every other Triple H hater, but I have never been a fan of his dating all the way back to his blueblood days. Before all the Steph dating/Jericho holding down/production meeting days stuff was happening, I still simply never likes his in-ring work. I thought he was boring in the ring, but got all that praise because at the time he was a TRUE HEEL that the crowd hated and it was his character of being an asshole, rather than his actual work in the ring that everyone loved.

Is it possible for you guys who have mancrushes on Benoit to NOT be overly defensive and sensitive when someone attacks the love of your life?

Now, with that said, when we talk about overrated, are we talking just wrestling in the ring, or are we talking the overall package (charisma, mic skills, any other smark term I'm leaving out)....

If we are talking pure wrestling in the ring, Benoit is NOT overrated. He's very good. If we're talking total package, then yeah, he's definitely overrated because I don't care what anyone says, he still can't do a good interview/promo. But anyway....

For my pick, I'm going with Chris Jericho as the most overrated guy. His matches look pretty slow and his character is awful. Chris Jericho's original heel character in WCW was awesome, but now all we get is a shadow of that guy. He just squeals into the mic. To be real honest, there's nothing entertaining about the guy.

It almost isn't fair to even pose this question, because wrestlers who thrived in other federations never had to consider all the elements it takes to get over in the WWE. I think the better question would have been, "What worker is the most overrated in the WWE enviornment"

I think a major problem for Booker T and Lance Storm is the lack of a credible finish. Single leg boston crab? Scissor kick? Bah. Then again, I never thought either one had a very good finish. I get the impression they could do a good job building to those moves (probably more Storm than Booker) and shape a better moveset around it.

I don't know if Jeff Hardy even qualifies as a "rated worker" of any kind. I just know I can't stand him. Overrated? HHH. Just too slow nowadays.

Edge. ALSO: Triple H.

Most underrated in my opinion is Billy Gunn. ALSO: Al Snow, D'Lo Brown.

Absolutely, but I don't consider him an actual worker anymore, so I didn't mention him

I've heard lots of people say that he was better than Flair, and that Steamboat & DK couldn't hold his jock.

Well he IS a title threat according to WWE and will be "working" at the PPV....

Shawn Michaels?! Overrated?! Are you joking?! He's arguably the greatest wrestler ever when you combine the psychology, aerial, and technical aspects. He changed the way aerial wrestling is perceived. He is NOT overrated.
