Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Okay, we're at the effective halfway point of the regular season, so who gets your Best Team, Quarterback, Receiver, and so on votes? I don't do nearly enough analysis and research to say who the best position players are (I've found that that stuff kills my childish enthusiasm for the game), but I can tell you who the best team is: I look like a tool, so what. My team's 7-1, can YOU make that statement? Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Team is the Packers QB is Bledsoe since the Bills wouldn't have won yet without him. Plus...his #s. RB is Priest Holmes WR is Peerless Price I'll fill in more when someone else thinks up the categories.
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Team: Packers, they have played great this season. I am definitely impressed with how they have played on defense, especially after all the injuries they have sustained on that side of the ball. (Personal biased because they're my favorite team pick: the 49ers) QB: Jeff Garcia, he has bounced back after a slow start to this season, his numbers up to now are not bad at all. He throws very few INTs and usually makes good decisions and can make big plays out of broken-down plays. RB: Priest Holmes, he has proven that he is not a one-year-wonder that some had thought he was, plus, he is helping carry the Chiefs offense. And he is clearly the best RB in the league this year. WR: Peerless Price/Terrell Owens I gotta vote for two WRs here. I voted Price because he is having an awesome year so far and has definitely stepped his game up this year making a great 2nd target for Bledsoe to throw the ball to. And he has improved a lot from last year. I voted Owens because like his QB Garcia, he started slow and has come on very strong the last few weeks, especially this past Sunday where he torched the Raiders for 191 recieving yards on 12 catches. I fucking HATE the Raiders, and watching Owens torch those fuckers was a great thing to watch.
Guest Bricks Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Team: Philadelphia. I had Tampa as the best NFC team... that is till Philly whooped them. QB: McNabb. Duce is inconsistent and I don't really trust any of his receivers, but the guy wins games every way. RB: Faulk. It took them the sixth game to realize give him the ball and you'll win. I like Priest Holmes and all, but I'm biased so Faulk it is. WR: Owens. The best and most explosive WR in the game.
Guest fazzle Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Team: Denver, although that loss to Baltimore really makes me feel stupid for putting them here. Pack may be 7-1, but they've beaten mostly easy teams. QB: Favre, I'd like to put Bledsoe here, but he's been cooling down lately RB: Holmes, no question WR: Price
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Team: Green Bay Packers QB: Drew Bledsoe RB: Priest Holmes WR: Peerless Price Coach: Mike Sherman (His starters are in the hospital and they are still leading the league in turnovers and have a 7-1 record.) For the reasons listed by other posters.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Team, QB, RB and WR are really the only positions worth talking about. Team: Green Bay Packers but that will change in this very unpredictable NFL season. The Packers are due for a dose of bizarro NFL like every other team has went through. QB: Drew Bledsoe at this point, but Buffalo's defense which doesn't exist will drag Bledsoe down as the season continues. RB: Easily Priest Holmes and no other RB is even close to him at this point. WR: Peerless Price is one of the most improved WRs and is the best WR at this point. Last year Peerless was an inconsistent WR that had tons of potential but jut couldn't put it all together consistently. How about we list the Most Disappointing as well? Team: Has to be the Saint Louis Rams. They just have way too much talent to need a 3 game winning streak in order to have a decent record. QB: Even though i predicted it i suppose Kurt Warner would be the biggest disappointment. Perhaps Vinny "and the Jets" as well since many were calling for a good year from him because of him having a great preseason RB: Curtis Martin who was once considered a very durable running back that would consistently have good games. Up to this point of the season Curtis Martin has struggled with injuries and has been very inconsistent when he has played. However Curtis Martin should be improved the rest of the season now that he appears to be over the injuries and because of Chad Pennington showing himself to be a good QB. WR: David Boston. You can't really blame a good player for struggling in Arizona, but Boston in the past has been good enough to over come Arizona's problems. This year playing in Arizona may have finally caught up to him.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Team: Broncos..they have problems, but so doesnt everyone else QB: Bledsoe..buffalo wouldnt be where they are without him RB: Priest Holmes- easiest pick. no one comes close WR: Harrison Moulds and Price knocked each other out of 1st for me
Guest The Voices In Your Head Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Well, since my favorite team is the Packers, I've gotta go with Packers for the best team and for Favre as the best QB. As for running back, I've been really impressed with Priest Holmes of the Chiefs.
Guest El Hijo Del Lunatic Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Let's get away from the individuals for right now, and instead play ... IF THE PLAYOFFS STARTED TODAY~! Here are your AFC Seedings: 1.) Denver (6-2) 2.) Pittsburgh (5-3) 3.) Miami (5-3) 4.) Tennessee (4-4) WC1.) San Diego (6-2) WC2.) Buffalo (5-4) Oakland, Indianapolis, New England, and Kansas City are all at 4-4, on the cusp of the playoffs. Oakland, with a .600 winning percentage in the AFC, would be the next in if Buffalo slips, followed by New England or Indianapolis, and then Kansas City. Here are your NFC Seedings: 1.) Green Bay (7-1) 2.) Tampa Bay (7-2) 3.) Philadelphia (6-2) 4.) San Francisco (6-2) WC1.) New Orleans (6-2) WC2.) Arizona (4-4) Both the New York Giants and Washington Redskins are also 4-4, but Arizona is the only team with a conference record above .500. And the Washington Redskins are 4-4, which is halfway to EIGHT-AND-EIGHT~! So far, they're right on target. LUNATIC - When I'm too drunk to walk, I rock a party on crutches. Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted November 6, 2002 Best QB: Rich Gannon. This guy is freaking amazing. Did you know that, even with every other player on his team sucking ass, Gannon is on pace to break Marino's yardage record? Honorable mention to Farve, Bledsoe, and McNabb who make everyone else on thier team better, the quality of al great QB's. Best RB: Marshall Faulk has been great the past few weeks, but Priest Holmes has been great all season. He has no weaknesses, either. Best WR: Peerless Price may be the most improved but Marvin Harrison is still the best. This is made even more clear due to the fact that Owens, Moss, Holt, and Boston have all been bums. Best Team: 4 way tie. Seriously. Green Bay, Philly, New Orleans and Denver are outclassing the competition. But they can't seem to pull away from eachother. Guest converge241 Report post Posted November 6, 2002 i would forget about atlanta too, except that they have Vick
Guest Leena Report post Posted November 6, 2002 QB: Brett Favre. Without him, the Pack are nothing. Bledsoe is a close 2nd with his gaudy stats, and he's the only reason Buffalo is over .500... but GB is 7-1 because of Favre. HB: Priest Holmes. By far the best stats so far, and he's the main ingredient in the NFL's top offense currently. Faulk may take this by the end of the year, though. WR: Terrell Owens. He can control a game by himself, and San Fran's offense would be nothing without him. I think Price is rated far too high. Yes, he has the gaudy stats but he's still the 2nd receiver for the Bills. Defensive player: Derrick Brooks. Best defender and best scorer for his team. Best team: It's amongst Green Bay, Philly, Tampa, New Orleans & Denver. I guess Green Bay is on top because they have the best record... and if they get home field, they're going to the Super Bowl.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted November 6, 2002 No Jay Fiedler love? Before he got hurt, they were 5-1, and had just gone into Denver & beat the Broncos, establishing the Dolphins as 1 of the best teams in the league. Jay gets hurt, and Maven...I mean Ray Lucas comes in, and the Dolphins haven't looked the same. Oh, well, I'd probably vote for Favre or Bledsoe or McNabb, too. Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted November 6, 2002 Best team: Packers. They've been hit hard by injuries and still are playing at a high level. As long as they keep Favre healthy they're a go for the playoffs and likely a first round bye. Best QB: Drew Bledsoe, Buffalo - Has singlehandedly turned a doormat into a playoff contender, first or near first in every passing category, how do you not give the nod to him? Best RB: Marshall Faulk, St. Louis - Look how good the Rams have become once he actually started getting the ball on a regular basis. Now they're actually thinking playoffs instead of 0-16. Best WR: Eric Moulds, Buffalo - Yeah he's got Bledsoe throwing him the ball now but he makes the catch and has been having big games every game. Best defensive player: Derrick Brooks, LB, Tampa Bay - Four touchdowns...on defense? Says it all. Oh yeah, he's still one of the best linebackers in football...maybe the best. Biggest surprise team: Atlanta Falcons - Vick = wins. Their defense is pretty good too. With that weapon at QB in Vick they might be able to slip into the playoffs. Biggest surprise player: Tommy Maddox, QB, Pittsburgh - Being the XFL MVP really helped his career - ok not by much. But he's finally matured into the quarterback he was expected to be 10 years ago. Perfect QB for the Pittsburgh system and it's showing. I hope Kordell has started taking reps as a reciever again. Worst surprise team: Chicago Bears - Most expected a repeat of the Bears miracle 2001 season. Injuries have been a part of the downfall - particularly Ted Washington - but the team just doesn't seem as blessed as it once was. Urlacher also has gone from being All-World to all-ordinary, though he's finally beginning to play back to his highest level now that he's adjusted to not having the big DT's in front of him to ward off blockers. Worst surprise: William Green, RB-Cleveland - The supposed savior to the Browns running game is now behind Jamel White on the depth chart. And White is so small the Browns can't even run half their playbook! Shows you something when the talented #1 pick is on the sidelines while his less skilled counterpart is on the field. So you're not a genius after all: Mike Martz, St. Louis - I'm sorry, but taking FIVE WEEKS to figure out that Faulk = wins does not a genius make. And I bet once he gets Warner back he'll start chucking it up again too.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted November 6, 2002 All the Redskins have to do is finish with a better Record than the Cardinals, Falcons and Giants and Rams and they are in the playoffs. Now, the Cardinals won't keep it up in the NFC West, and the Falcons will be eliminated because of the greatness in the NFC South (Tampa and New Orleans). The Skins will finish out at 10-6 and make the playoffs..As for the Rams, lets just say the Redskins started out 0-5, and ended up 8-8. They won't do better than that.. Falcons finish 10-6 (Tough games vs Bucs, Saints, and Steelers, winnable games vs Seahawks, Lions, Panthers, Browns and Vikings ) Cardinals finish 6-10 (Really Tough Schedule vs Eagles, Raiders, Chiefs, Rams, 49ers and Broncos, with only Lions and Seahawks as easily winable games) Giants finish 8-8 (Tough games vs Eagles, Titans, 2 with the Skins, winnable games vs Cowboys, Texans, Colts and Vikings) Redskins finish 10-6 (Tough games vs Cowboys twice (don't laugh..), Rams and Eagles, winnable games vs Jaguars, Texans, Giants 2 times and Cowboys 2 times) The Dallas games SHOULD BE winnable, but we all know how the Skins choke against the Cowboys every year. If they can beat the Cowboys twice, there is no reason why they can't finish 10-6 and snag the Wild Card in some sort of tie break with the Falcons.. as for mid year awards: (AFC/NFC/Overall) QB: Gannon / Garcia / Gannon RB: Holmes / Faulk / Holmes WR: Price / Owens / Price
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted November 6, 2002 Marvin, you know the Skins aren't that good, right? staying in that vein... You guys know Price isn't even the best reciever on his team, right?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 6, 2002 Actually the Redskins aren't as bad as they've been labeled. They have talent, but the team just hasn't been playing up to their potential up to this point. They have just been underachievers this year. Yes they aren't a great team and still have a few holes to fix and most teams do, but they are very capable of winning six games like Marvin said. rather or not they do it isn't the point, but they are capable of it. Guest Rabbi_wilson13 Report post Posted November 7, 2002 The Falcons are going to coast into the playoffs, my good friend. Game of the Month is N'awlins heading into Dirty next week, and after that they just gotta deal with the Bucs one more time and they have a reallllllllly easy schedule. Dirty South is going to get both wild cards. You could almost gurantee it, unless the Rams go pycho-crazy-pycho, but they've got some tough games left. Team of the Year: No team really stands out, and just because the Packers are 7-1 doesn't make them the best team. They're very, very good, mind you, but they beat up a pair of reeling AFC East squads and a variety of hapless NFC Teams. Lost to the Saints in one of the true tests they had, so i'm going to give team of the year to Denver. They're tough on both sides of the ball, even though they're a Brian Griese breakdown away from oblivion, they've got the leader for Rookie O' the Year right now, a pair of great receivers and an ace kicker. And that being said, who beat them at home with their starting QB? Yeah, that's what I thought. Phear the Phish. (If we can make the playoffs in one piece) QB: It's gotta go to McNabb. Bledsoe's close, but Van Pelt wouldn't of done THAT bad. You take away McNabb from the Eagles, and what do you have? Exactly. Take Bledsoe away from the Bills and you still have two awesome receivers and a sturdy running back. RB: Faulk, with Holmes a very close second. Just look at the stats in Rams win versus Rams losses. Of course, I'd hate to see the Chiefs without their Priest. WR: Owens. Look no further than his game at Oakland. He's probably the best athlete in the stadium (Unless they're playing the Falcons) in every game, and with a good QB like Garcia, he's really holding his own. Also, I hate the Steelers with a passion, but you take away Hines Ward from that team and they don't have a shot in a big game. Plaxico Burress in the clutch? Thanks, but no thanks. Also have to give some props to some of the surprises of the first half of the season: 1) Falcons and Michael Vick: Vick + Tough D + Easy Schedule Rest of Year = Playoffs for the Dirties, and maybe not even as a wild card. 2) Chargers: With the way the rest of their season looks, it may only be good while it lasted, but with LT and that defense, you can't count them out of any game. The Jets game can honestly be called a fluke, as everybody has bad days. 3) Bucs defense: Sure, we all knew they were good, but take away the Vikings trouncing and they basically outscore their feeble offense. Completely dominant, busting out big plays and getting the momentum for their team. 4) Maddox: Tommy Mania is running wild here in Steeler Country, as everyone has sore legs from taking that hard fall off of the "Kordell has Finally Arrived" bandwagon. He hasn't really beaten anybody yet, but he does look like he can. Hey, they're winning, so thats what counts. 5) Streaking of Early Favorites: Raiders and Pats start out awesome. Both of them take some bad lumps, but while the Pats look to be back to their old selves after trouncing the Bills (Sup BPS), the Raiders can be 4-6 before they know it, because they head from Mile High to take on the Pats on a short week. Now the Dolphins appear to be spiraling downward, and the Eagles and Saints are only a twisted ankle or bum shoulder away from joining them. 6) NFL Sunday Ticket: The first year I've got this, and it's probably my greatest investment ever, right up there with getting the March Madness package to see every tourney game. Steelers/Falcons is the marquee game this Sunday, and if you've never seen Vick play, you owe yourself to watch it. Seeing Emmitt break the record live was also a privilege, as is watching four 2-minute drills at one time.
