Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted November 10, 2002 It's called "developing a way." I'm pretty sure the breathalyzer had to have been a BRAND NEW INVENTION~! at some point...
Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted November 10, 2002 If they really were worried about it, set up cafes where you have to turn your keys in before you smoke, and then be given a soberity test before you leave. But that sorta defeats the purpose of taking it home and smoking. But I agree that being stoned and drivign should not be legal. Ive done it 2 times and Im not proud of it, but both times were, I had to go no other choice but to drive options.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted November 10, 2002 I drive high a lot, but it's always way out in the country where I'm not going to kill anyone but myself.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I know it may sound like a bias opinion, but being high on marijuana does not nearly cripple your judgement and driving ability like alcohol does, unless you have an insanely high amount of weed. I have driven twice high. Not something I will do again, just because it isn't as good as being sober, but I have driven once when I was too drunk and I felt a lot worse about what could have potentially happened afterwards. The time I drove high was when I saw Digital Underground and we got to party with them on their tour bus, so you could imagine the free and unlimited supply of weed and alcohol. I went to IHOP immediately following this party in order to use the food to cure the munchies and sober me up....thank goodness it worked like a charm. Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I'd have to agree with NoCalMike. Once again speaking empirically, it seems to me it's less dangerous to operate machinery under the influence of marijuana than alcohol.
Guest EricMM Report post Posted November 11, 2002 What empirical evidence? I'd doubt that many studies have been done. Maybe there are less accidents because it's done less. Now that Cell phones are becoming more prevelant, more people die in cell-phone related car crashes than ever before. If people could smoke in their cars, there would probably be more accidents. Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I meant empirical in the sense that I was relying on my own observations, senses, and experiences.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted November 15, 2002 In regards to other state's marijuana legislation, I just found out that in the recent elections, San Francisco passed Proposition S, a revolutionary new measure that makes it "city policy to consider growing and distributing marijuana for medical use". Now the key word (and the loop hole) is still the word "consider", but it'll still be interesting to see how that plays out.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted November 15, 2002 Yah and as soon as SF starts doing it. Mr Ashcroft will be on the first flight over and go on a rant about how the feds will block any such ruling. It already happened once with pot and legalized medical suicide. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted November 15, 2002 Why are there two threads about Marijuana. The people that smoke it are going to smoke it no matter what.
