My Mid-Season NFL Awards

Game of the (Half) Year: This award goes to the Denver Broncos vs. Miami Dolphins in Week 6. A great game with cluch plays, clutch kicks and great action. ESPN had to be glad to get at least ONE good prime time game

Plus, Fiedler got them into position to win that game playing w/ the broken thumb.

No problem with any of your picks here. The only thing I'll say is that I've heard Bledsoe and Holmes mentioned as the prime candidates for the NFL MVP. Based on stats, they should be.

But I'd rather look at how the players' teams are doing during the season. Based on that, I think Brett Favre and Aaron Brooks should be high on the list. I know you had Favre there, but he should be higher.

True, but think about it, would the Bills be second in the East without Bledsoe? Would the Chiefs have an offense w/o Holmes? Making the playoffs helps, but I will have no problem with Bledsoe winning it even if the Bills miss out.

I think you could make the same argument for Favre.

I've watched this team play (Buffalo) for years.

Mark these words.

Buffalo would be the WORST TEAM IN FOOTBALL if Bledsoe weren't there.

Those awesome receivers...yeah...this is their 4th year together.

How awesome were they before?

Moulds had a good year once that he's been living off of until now.

At least Green Bay has a D that isn't one of the WORST EVER.

Plus...a more stable running game to boot.

Oh...I want to throw my vote for game of the year to the week 2 OT thriller between the Bills and the Vikings.

That game had everything.

what about Brooks from the Bucs? Other than Ray Lewis nobody else is as dominate on defense, also Brooks is on pace to break the record for most Defensive TDs in a year.

Favre is MVP. I posted this in the "non-whoring of a site that gets 5 hits a day" awards thread.

Deuce McAllister (RB): Know why the Saints have surprised so many with their 6-2 record? This guy, who has helped revitalize the Saints offense and make their fans say "Ricky who?" He leads the NFC with 836 rushing yards (avg. 104 per game) and 7 TDs. He is a threat everytime he touches the ball and compliments Aaron Brooks nicely.

He's not going to win it, and he doesn't rank with Favre, Holmes and Bledsoe, but I'm going to give Tommy Maddox some 2nd-tier MVP support. The Steelers were on the fast track to a shit season when he stepped in, and he's been nothing but effective since and hasn't had a "bad game" like many others have (Brady, Manning, etc.). He's brought the most dangerous offensive players for the Steelers (Buress, Ward) back into the offense, and they are playing extremely well. I would put him 5th or so at this point.

Marshall Faulk...No I don't think he should win, but he's carried the Rams and has given them a shot at making the playoffs. If anything he's proven to be the best player in the league.

I wouldn't list him as an MVP nominee, but I'd call him top 2 or 3 for Comeback Player of the Year.

As for the awards Kingpk gave out, I really have no problems with the list. My only question is why doesn't anyone I have seen do these half way awards give out a Defensive Player of the Year? I'm interested in seeing who people think it will go to. I think it's pretty much between Derrick Brooks of the Bucs and Joey Porter of the Steelers with the edge going to Brooks for all the TDs, but I may be forgetting someone.

Including that FG at the end of regulation that bounced off the cross bar and went IN. Un-fucking-believable, that's got to be the first time that's happened.

(Yes, I know I'm wrong with that statement. No, I DON'T care if you can pinpoint the exact time and place that it happened before. Shut up, go away.)

He's awesome, but he's got competition from Favre. Not so much Favre's talent, but more than any other player, Favre is capable of winning a game at any time.

I won't shut up. I think Paul Edinger has done that at least twice over the past couple of seasons. Just being a jerk here.
