Chunk Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 Jerry Lawler? huh? Aj Styles is way too Low, but its good to see an English man and FWa star at number 21. ChUnK!
Guest Dace59 Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 Styles' is high enough. And RVD shouldnt even be on the list, he's terrible.
Guest goodhelmet Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 this bothers me a little bit... 159) Syxx-Pac 160) Chris Steel 161) James Mason 162) B-Boy 163) A.J. Styles 164) Dragon Kid 165) Jerry Lynn i mean really. has syxx done anything better than lynn or styles this year??? the guy is worse than anyone. no heart, no skills, no desire. no workrate!!!!!
Guest Banky Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 Have these guys ever done an all-time list? It would be pretty interesting to see how all the great wrestlers in their prime matches up to one another. I, for one, would dig that. I am surprised Lynn and Styles are much more lower than Low Ki. Low Ki is alright and all, but I just don't dig his work all that much.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 The list (as always) is garbage.
Guest Dace59 Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 What did you expect from the people that brought you the Big Book?
Guest Ace309 Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 The list (as always) is garbage. You know, that attitude bothers me. Why? Well, obviously the list isn't perfect, and I think we all know this. I've looked at the DVDVR500 as a way to stimulate discussion and an expression of the DVD guys' opinions, nothing else. Stimulating discussion and debate is never a bad thing, and so I'd rather see examples of gripes insead of "The list is garbage." There's more to a post where you complain that Tenzan's listed below Spike Fucking Dudley than to the one you made, obviously, and it makes more of an impact.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 I suppose you are right. but... it just bothers me that people actually value these guys opinions any more than the average Joe. The list is so fucking biased, and flawed in the way people are placed that it no longer has a point, IMO. Kea better than Nagata? Tenryu better than Nishimura? Goldust better than Edge and Jericho? Lesnar at 75...Tenzan and Chono at 154 and 126 respectively? Barmy, mad, ridiculous and biased. Good fun, though, I guess.
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 Dean: when Joshi comes out, you aren't gonna put Dawn Marie on there again, are you? Hell yeah! You saw that match against Torrie. Perfectly fine wrestling. DEAN.
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 this bothers me a little bit... Tom and Phil loved his X-Division matches since they were the most straightforward and psychologically sound of all the matches in the division. Or something. I didn't see him during the time period and they have a weird hatred for Lynn but always cut Waltman slack. I take their word for it. DEAN.
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 . Have these guys ever done an all-time list? It would be pretty interesting to see how all the great wrestlers in their prime matches up to one another. I, for one, would dig that. ----- DR: We've worked on a top 500 of the 90s for about 2 years now. I'm assuming it will never see the light of day. I am surprised Lynn and Styles are much more lower than Low Ki. Low Ki is alright and all, but I just don't dig his work all that much ----- DR: The same people on the 500 chamber that love the psuedo-shootstyle of Low-Ki have a same amount of hatred of the Styles/Lynn styles of 1998 Indie junior style. And those of us that like Lynn also adore Low-Ki's matches. He was down and out of the top 10 this go round. DEAN.
Guest Nevermortal Posted November 10, 2002 Report Posted November 10, 2002 I approve of Low Ki & American Dragon's standings, but not RVD's. The people he was ranked lower than...oy...
Guest dreamer420 Posted November 10, 2002 Report Posted November 10, 2002 that list is just puro-loving garbage
Guest razazteca Posted November 10, 2002 Report Posted November 10, 2002 its Anti-RAW poll Pro-Lucha and who can forget the grudge that Lance Storm has against this opinion poll.
Guest Bricks Posted November 10, 2002 Report Posted November 10, 2002 When 5 of the top 10 are American based wrestlers and the rest of the list is pretty balanced between puro, lucha, and American, I wouldn't say this is "puro loving garbage"
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted November 10, 2002 Report Posted November 10, 2002 I'm glad that the Truth/Sadler miracle match (miracle in that it somehow didn't suck) was given consideration. Something that has to be remembered when you look at the rankings of LowKi, AJ and Lynn is that the list isn't ranking them based solely on th eX matches. Low Ki had a bunch of great stuff in RoH that Lynn never had. Look at that...I'm defending a list that put my favorite wrestler at 488.
Guest razazteca Posted November 10, 2002 Report Posted November 10, 2002 its funny that the 1st RAW Entertainer on the list is Goldust at #84. Most likely on the list for carrying Booker T to face pops in the greatest comedy tag team in all of WWE land. Either that or his matches on Heat.........vs Regal
Guest Loss4Words Posted November 10, 2002 Report Posted November 10, 2002 Dean, do you mind explaining why Chris Jericho dropped so far? The guy carried a lot of useless slugs to good efforts this year, namely Hogan, Kane and HHH. Is there anyone that you can honestly say is doing more with less in the WWE?
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 Dean, do you mind explaining why Chris Jericho dropped so far? The guy carried a lot of useless slugs to good efforts this year, namely Hogan, Kane and HHH. Is there anyone that you can honestly say is doing more with less in the WWE? DR: Well, I didn't actually see much of Jericho since I only get Smackdown but he basically just kinda drifted down 40 spots because I KNOW that Schneider went bat for him because he appreciates the bumping for said slugs that he does. I think the original idea was to kick him down 20 or so because he didn't actually have the matches to keep him in the 50s and then folks just kept getting moved up past him. There is no hate for Jericho in the DVDVR camp. DEAN.
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 I'm glad that the Truth/Sadler miracle match (miracle in that it somehow didn't suck) was given consideration. That match was amazing. I would rank it ahead of Savage carrying Rodman to a watchable match. DEAN.
Guest razazteca Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 still don't understand why Blue Panther was so high
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 still don't understand why Blue Panther was so high Blue Panther looked fine in the time period. If had a couple singles matches he would be top 5 again. DEAN.
Guest razazteca Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 why must a wrestler have a good singles match to be in the upper elite rankings, do you intentially look down on tag teams? Shocker was not light weight champ but his work against Inferinos in tag team matches were good, hell Shocker took the best bumps against the them. As for Blue Panther, outside his matches not in the team of FUSION, he looks average at best. Satanico, has done more than Blue Panther in this time peroid, as he became Trios tag team champion along with the real Inferinales, and his promos :evil laugh: add a laughable tone to his character. How PWI can compare Blue Panther to Flair or Brett Hart is beyond believe! Does his abiltity to train other luchadores become a factor in your rankings, if it does I will have to disagree.
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 why must a wrestler have a good singles match to be in the upper elite rankings, do you intentially look down on tag teams? Shocker was not light weight champ but his work against Inferinos in tag team matches were good, hell Shocker took the best bumps against the them. Singles matches help- especially since a lot of Luchadores don't do well in them. Shocker, Santo and Blue Panther are king-sized in regular lucha and can bring it in singles matches always puts them ahead of those who are good in trios but never have memorable singles matches. DEAN.
Guest razazteca Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 but Santo did nothing but fight over the tag team titles during this time period right, yet he is ranked highest rank Luchadore? what about the performance of Black Black Black Black Warrior, he did well in the Santo Trophy tourny?
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted November 12, 2002 Report Posted November 12, 2002 but Santo did nothing but fight over the tag team titles during this time period right, yet he is ranked highest rank Luchadore? what about the performance of Black Black Black Black Warrior, he did well in the Santo Trophy tourny? DR: Yeah, but Santo would be #1 or #2 if he had any singles matches. His history as a great wrestler keeps him in the top ten until he shows that he can't go anymore. He was GREAT in the very few matches that made tape. Black Warrior is sooooo problematic. He's so smoked by Bucanero, Nicho, Ultimo Guerrerro, Tarzan Boy, Mascara Magica and Halloween these days. He is so the least of the really good young guys. DEAN.
Guest razazteca Posted November 12, 2002 Report Posted November 12, 2002 so your saying that Black Warrior is only good for that crazy dive to the front row?
Guest Retro Rob Posted November 13, 2002 Report Posted November 13, 2002 Dean, I just don't understand how HHH could be that high on the list. The guy had one good match all year, in which he was carried by a cripple with four years of ring rust. If anyone should have been #500, it should have been The Game.
Guest DEAN RASMUSSEN Posted November 13, 2002 Report Posted November 13, 2002 so your saying that Black Warrior is only good for that crazy dive to the front row? I'm saying that he would have to have a better time period than Rey Bucanero, Nicho, Halloween, Ultimo Guerrerro, Mascara Magica and Tarzan Boy to get any higher than he did.....annnnnnnnnd he didn't. Headfirst into the first row is sooooo 1998 unless it's a fat guy like Ciclon Ramirez. DEAN.
Guest DVDVR_Phil Posted November 13, 2002 Report Posted November 13, 2002 but Santo did nothing but fight over the tag team titles during this time period right, yet he is ranked highest rank Luchadore? what about the performance of Black Black Black Black Warrior, he did well in the Santo Trophy tourny? I thought Warrior looked pretty poor in his match against Felino, he blew like a half a dozen spots in a 9 minute match, plus he was in the second half of guys in every trios I saw him in. Phil
