Guest HorsemenGlory Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Just wonderin if anybody saw tonights show and wondered what they thought, it was one of my favorites and is building up to quite an ending for this year.... So thoughts?
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I saw it. I can't believe Ralphie died. He was without a doubt the funniest guy on the show. "Hey this is Sargent Mike Hunt from Beaver Falls"
The Dames 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I was REALLY starting to like the Ralph Cifaretto character. I've always been a fan of Joey Pants and its sad to see him go. I'm not sure why they did it but I'm still in shock that they disposed of him the way they did. Dames
Guest RedJed Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Interesting show tonight, didn't see that coming really. They always documented some underlined tension between Tony and Ralph but for that to happen, wow. They really built up sympathy for the character also right up until the death, and for the first time that I can remember me being in all 4 seasons, it made me really hate Soprano. It certainly seemed obvious that the story they are going to go with the rest of the season is that Tony is out of control and might pay for it in the end. All of the stuff with Tony and Christopher creeped me out, I know that much. Tony came off really fucked up, and that last 15 minutes just made me not know what to think. Basically we got a "darker" look at Tony, I thought the symbolism of him walking out to the bright light at the end was fucking classic signifying just that. Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Who gives a Fuck about Ralph. What about Pie-O-My! Burnt, put to sleep, then dragged off by a fucking Truck.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted November 11, 2002 The deal with Tony and animals is a really interesting angle they play into the show. Remember season 1 with the ducks?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 11, 2002 It was a great swerve, No one expected that here...Now who wants to bet...It turns out that It WAS a electrical fire after all? Since Tone knows about Chrises drug use...What comes of that? Why not pin it on Paulie? Where was Furio? Does Meadow not exist anymore?
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted November 11, 2002 With only 4 episodes left, it seems as if all season they've been building towards someone attempting to take out Tony and having everyone be a suspect ala Who Shot J.R? as everyone has a motive -- Silvio: didn't like Tony promoting Christopher over Patsy Parisi and has went over his head a few times this season Paulie: Tony has judged against him in a few disputes concerning Ralphie and hasn't shown any concern for Paulie's mother, who Paulie is VERY sensitive about Furio: wants Carmela and knows the only way to get her is to get rid of Tony Junior: has already tried to have Tony whacked once before and conspired with Livia to do it; wants his job as "boss" back AJ and Meadow: face it, neither of his kids really likes him; Meadow may still harbor resentment towards her father for Jackie Jr's death Dr. Melfi: is somewhat disgusted and repulsed by his behavior at times and is legitimately scared of him Patsy Parisi: knows Tony gave the order to have his twin brother whacked and contemplated killing Tony before as well Carmela: knows Tony cheats on her and hides money from her, two things that are very important to her. She's sick of his shit and wants Furio almost as bad as he wants her Christopher: along with Silvio, is starting to question T's judgement lately Johnny Sack, Carmine and the New York bosses: have been itching to stick their beak in the Jersey territory for the past two seasons now Adriana: may think it's her only alternative left after being brought in by the Feds; also thanks to the Feds she now has an inkling that Tony may have had something to do with her Uncle Ritchie's "disappearance" since she now knows that he isn't in witness protection as Tony has claimed Janice? Irina? Any other guesses? Comments? http://pub39.ezboard.com/fsocialistssanctu...start=1&stop=
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Tony's role went from "Loveable Mob Boss" to "Complete Piece of Shit". This guy fucks around on his wife all the time, fucks other guys girlfriends (and then gets pissed when it happens to him), and now kills Ralphie for seemingly no reason. Chase is definitely making the viewer despise Tony now. I'm calling for Christopher to OD by the end of the season, and an attempt'll be made on Tony's life, but I don't know by who. Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I like the idea of a WHO SHOT TONY storyline. I think they need to get to closing a bunch of storylines. Having tony get shot would create TONS O storylines to be opened.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted November 11, 2002 AJ and Meadow: face it, neither of his kids really likes him; Meadow may still harbor resentment towards her father for Jackie Jr's death Neither of the kids will want to off Tony. AJ is too much of a pussy, and despite what happens between Tony & Meadow, I think Meadow still loves him. Dr. Melfi: is somewhat disgusted and repulsed by his behavior at times and is legitimately scared of him She may be scared of Tony, but not enough to actively look to have him killed. Carmela: knows Tony cheats on her and hides money from her, two things that are very important to her. She's sick of his shit and wants Furio almost as bad as he wants her I can't see Carm having Tony killed either. She knows what side her bread is buttered on. Getting rid of Tony would put a serious crimp in the lifestyle to which she's become accustomed. Junior: has already tried to have Tony whacked once before and conspired with Livia to do it; wants his job as "boss" back This one is iffy. I think Junior realizes he's too old to be running things and putting up w/ all the shit Tony has to put up with. I think he's content w/ getting his $$$ w/out having to work for it. If anybody decides to make a move on Tony, it will be another mob guy, either from New York or from w/in Tony's own gang. The only guy I would trust in Tony's gang is Christopher, the others have motives/beefs w/ Tony, enough to seriously make a move on him.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I really don't see Paulie, at this point doing a thing. He is too whipped.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted November 11, 2002 All of most unexpected candidates are the ones you should suspect the most. I wouldn't be suprised to see the smoking gun in the hands of someone we previously thought was "too pussy" to kill Tony. That's the whole idea. It won't be someone we already suspect. Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted November 11, 2002 If it was one of the people I went over, it would be totally out of character for them (except for Junior). I feel pretty safe ruling out Carm & the kids and Melfi. I'm surprised you didn't list Artie Bucco (sp?). Doesn't he still owe Tony a lot of money from a few episodes ago? I don't think he'd go so far as to pursue killing Tony, but he's got a motive. As for Paulie, we've seen him w/ Johnny Sack, so it wouldn't shock me to see the New York guys try to get him on their side, and possibly offer him a nice position for offing Tony.
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Artie doesn't owe Tony anything anymore, the debt was called off when Tony's tab at Artie's restaraunt was wiped clean. The only people I can really see making a go for Tony at seasons end would be Furio and Paulie. In last weeks episode when Furio is attending his father's funeral in Naples the old man he talked to said the only way for him to win over the wife would be to kill the boss. Paulie still seems to be disgruntled that Tony never once helped him out during his run in the clank, and on top of that he's getting closer to Johnny Sacks as the weeks go by. Speaking of Sacks, whatever happened to the Carmine-ordered hit on him? Was it called off because Johnny called off the hit on Ralphie?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Yeah...I am convince it will be Furio...Don't forget...He still is employed by The italian Gang.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Speaking of Sacks, whatever happened to the Carmine-ordered hit on him? Was it called off because Johnny called off the hit on Ralphie? Yep I like the idea of the possible motives they've built into the season for virtually anyone to have reasons to off Tony, I'm pretty sure thats where it's all leading to. Either that or it's some long storyline that is leading to Tony actually getting his shit together or something, I dunno. But its sure obvious he is in hot water in one way or another with everyone, even Anthony Jr. last night really gave him the cold shoulder.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted November 11, 2002 At this point I wouldn't rule ANYONE out...regardless of what motive they may or may not have right now. But since they're building towards leading you to believe it will be Furio or Paulie, or whoever the fuck, I'd say it probably WON'T be them.

Chase is definitely making the viewer despise Tony now. Oh, and this is completely taking this thread off tangent, but tell THAT to anyone (O'Reilly, ICLU, ect) that says they are "glorifiying" that way of life. THATS the bottom line on this show, that Tony and the mafia members ARE despicable characters, just so happens they are the stars of the show. If you want glorification, go read Damyon Ruynon and stuff like "Guys and Dolls" BIG F'N DIFFRENCE Steve

Guest converge241 Report post Posted November 13, 2002 hey dont worry i watch it every week on Sunday, i was just thinking of people who hadnt and while the first post may say that, you can easily see the second post on your screen. this kindof jumps out at you: "I saw it. I can't believe Ralphie died"
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted November 20, 2002 Damn. No one dies this week so the conversation about Season 4 dies as a result? You guys friggin' disgust me.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted November 21, 2002 SPOILERS:----------- The drum beat that started playing at the closing of this weeks show(the week after Ralphie was killed) indicates that NJ and NY are going to mob war, and I am sure the season finale will have someone from the NJ crew switch sides to end the season. Guest RedJed Report post Posted November 21, 2002 This weeks show just wasn't much to comment about even. I watched it again earlier today and still it just left me with an "blah" feeling. Seems like Paulie continues to be thoughtless about Tony though, just the small things he did like take his money when Tony hauled out of the Bing and of course taking the painting.......they will catch up to him in the end. Gives the impression he will be turning by the end of the season, since he also was tight with Johnny Sac while he was in prison. Chris goes in rehab.........I didn't expect that to happen the way it did. I thought he would continue to blow off the drug problem until the end of the season and fuck up real bad to the point that he would get offed. Good to see that wasn't the case since he's one of my favorites on the show. This Furio and Carmela stuff I could do without though.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted November 21, 2002 anyone else agree that Paulie burned the stable down and thats why he had the painting repainted? Due to guilt from his eyes? i always thought Ralph was telling the truth about not doing it.. and that Paulie did it casue he was still locked up when Ralph sold it to Tony, so he still thought it was ralph's last week clinched my theory for me
