Guest goodhelmet Posted November 13, 2002 Report Posted November 13, 2002 ok, while sitting here, vegging on the computer, i listened to the entire riot act album and it was extremely disappointing. this coming from someone who would label pearl jam as one of his 5-10 favorite bands ever. there are a couple of tracks you can listen to but nothing, i repeat nothing, that is worth purchasing. as for binaural, i enjoyed it so fuck it. don't waste the cash on riot act.
Guest snuffbox Posted November 13, 2002 Report Posted November 13, 2002 Riot Act kicks a good seven different kinds of ass. An unbelievably good progressive rock album thats dripping in originality. At first listen about all I caught on to was that Ed was pretty f'n drunk in the studio. Now, after several complete listens, each song is taking on a life of its own, and almost all are the good life! No, there is no 'Jeremy' or 'Even Flow' on this cd. No theres nothing for the radio. No, it prolly wont sell very well. But I for one have a great appreciation for any band that will travel this far from the musical norms and return with the absolute beauty which is Riot Act. Very much art, very much progressive, and, thank god for em, very much Pearl Jam.

Unfortunately the critics havent posted anything on it yet that i have come across, so im not sure what the expert opinion is. Illusion - You never saw me and i never knew you
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted November 13, 2002 Report Posted November 13, 2002 I don't really read comics, nor do I read comic strips. I am guessing that the mentioning of the name in South Park was a reference to Calvin and Hobbbes. I thought that UYI had a woman in his sig for a minute there...
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted November 13, 2002 Report Posted November 13, 2002 Oh yeah, wasn't Thomas Hobbes the guy who basically thought that all humans were born "good" or something, and also thought that we are all good-hearted by nature?
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 I thought that UYI had a woman in his sig for a minute there... Okay, so thats TWO people who have passed off Axl as a girl at first glance. Me thinks a time to change is upon me, Illusion-ites... Ever evolving Illusion
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 Well I went and bought it today, but I haven't listened to it yet. I'm sure I know exactly what it sounds like already anyway. *listens to bootleg of The Blues by GNR version 2.0* Ahh...that's the stuff.
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 It's awful. Don't bother listenting to it. Vedder's voice is completley gone, and other than a few cool riffs and one or two good solos, nothing and I mean nothing is good on the disc. As I said in some other thread the only song I would call great was "Wanted To Get Right" in which Vedder shuts the fuck up and lets McCready rip out some awesome soloing. Everything else sucked. And P.S. Holy shit that's AXL?
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 Holy shit that's AXL? YES IT'S AXL! I'm sorry, but i just ain't seeing this feminine quality here... P.S Do you have ANY idea how hard it is to find quality Axl Rose pictures on the fuckin' internet? SCREW YOU BILL GATES! Illusion - Prefers the song 'Madagascar'
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 Blues > Madagascar By far

Holy shit that's AXL? i really love pearl jam but i have to agree with you about vedder's voice. most of the tracks he just sounds so damn ... lazy. missing is all of the emotion that i loved about pearl jam in the first place.
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 He sounds like hes been doing it a little to long, to me. There comes a time in every bands career when they just need to split up and move on, and Pearl Jam is there. If they don't quit after this trash record they'll just tarnish their legacy and turn me against them.
Guest godthedog Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 Oh yeah, wasn't Thomas Hobbes the guy who basically thought that all humans were born "good" or something, and also thought that we are all good-hearted by nature? hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha man, you don't even know how backwards you have that. i downloaded it from kazaa, and it's pretty disappointing. probably their worst album so far, mostly cause most of the slower numbers ('can't keep', 'thumbing my way', etc) suck it hard. but the rock numbers are really good rock songs, and 'love boat captain' is awesome. i'm sure i'll pick it up when i have money to spare. but the best part of all this, of course, is that this means pearl jam is TOURING soon. muahahahahaha...
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 but the best part of all this, of course, is that this means pearl jam is TOURING soon. muahahahahaha... Better yet, they start in Australia and I HAVE FREE TICKETS Rules to be me Illusion
Guest godthedog Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 you a member of the ten club?
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 No, no. I won a competition here in Australia on Channel V, much like the USA's MTV. I actually had to change the lyrics of a Pearl Jam song, in my case Elderly Woman Behind a Counter in a Small Town to suit the station and the competition THEN beat another Pearl Jam fan in a trivia quiz. Luckily for me, the bastard was stupid and i scored BIG. I do believe the front row is reserved for the Ten Club, however. Illusion
Guest godthedog Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 i think it's something like the first 3 rows, depending on the demand for fans at any given show. a friend of mine is in the ten club, & he got 3rd row tickets for the atlanta show on the binaural tour. got one of mike's autographed picks & everything.
