Will/Should Kane Turn Tonight?

Recommended Posts

Guest Mattdotcom

According to the Raw previews, we get Kane and RVD against ChrisTian Jericho tonight. Now, we also know that the Elimination Match has four faces and two heels. From these wrestlers, two are feuding: Michaels and HHH, Booker and Jericho. Kane was after HHH, but following the Casket Match, the HHH/HBK feud is the focus of the Elimination Chamber. And then, there's Rob Van Dam, arguably the second most over man in the match, probably the most over of the active Raw roster. So, of course, he has no feud or enemy in this match.

That's where we look to tonight. I'm calling for Kane to turn heel by "BETRAYING RVD, BAH GAWD!". His reason? Look at what he's gone through. Coming back from an injury, being mind-gamed, and basically cheated out of the world title. He tried to be a fun-loving freak, but it brought him nothing but sorrow. Then he remembered when he was a "monster" (yeah, it's as lame as 2000, but work with me). He was doing other people's dirty work, and had a 24-hour title reign. Then, he tried to help the little people, and they stabbed him in the back. So, now, he's on his own and looking out for number one.

It's not the best scenario, but it's needed. It gives RVD a target for the Elimination Chamber.

Or Kane could start a surfer-dude-freak gimmick and HHH can keep the title.

Kane turn? why? there is nothing now that can make me care one way or another for his character.

a complete gimmick change is needed with a new move set.

If you're going to turn Kane, turn him on Hurricane, who has stuck by him through all this. That gives it more impact. However, there is the problem of what to do with Hurrican afterwards, unless you want to feud the two. But I don't know if that would be good to do either.

This cannot happen because the 10 man tag on Tuesday's show has both men on the same side, so a turn is not going to happen.

That's true.

But a KAne turn would have been a pretty good failsafe if that wasn't the case...

what with HHH killing all his heat in the necro feud.

Alas...RVD will be the loner in the match with no reason to get eliminated by anyone.

Yeah, I think BPS and I are the only ones that think RVD is winning on Sunday. Take a look at what you have here:

HHH and Kane have been feuding....good bye Kane.

Jericho and Booker have been feuding....each of those guys is toast due to this.

Shawn and HHH are feuding....I hope they take each other out.

RVD isn't feuding with anyone, therefore he makes the most sense. I just have to wonder who he'd feud with after the PPV.

Well....the main theme going in to me is this:

1. Jericho ain't winning...

2. All the other faces, besides RVD, owe HHH a job.

What more do you need?

Of course the whole thing could get thrown into disaray of HHH beats Booker tonight.

I believe the match tonight is non-title, so Trips beating Booker in that match makes as much sense as when The Rock beat Eddie Guerrero in a non-title match this past summer.

Which is why it'll happen.

Yes, the Belt are up for Grabs.

Kane turning for no real reason tonight would truly be WcW Booking.

I believe if WWE gave RVD the belt at Survivor Series it could turn Raw around. It may be just what the doctor ordered, may even turn around the entire company.

Kane and RVD are getting the tag belts then

Kane specifically because its a consilation prize to be subjected to being a BUTT of a Necrophilla angle thanks to HHH

kinda like Tazz taking all the abuse of Austin during the Invasion angle, and then getting the tag belts with Spike for a few months.

Kane and RVD winning the tag belts makes ZERO sense to me. Mark my words, RVD is jobbing in this one. Which is good, I think...

RVD jobbing to Jericho would be Very good. Has Jericho ever gotten a win over RVD?

Jericho eliminated RVD in the Winner Take All match at last year's Survivor Series.

I also recall him getting the win against RVD in a tag match in September 2001. Don't forget who RVD lost his third IC title to.

RVD has beaten Jericho more times than Jericho's beaten RVD, that's for sure.

I say...

Jericho pins RVD, because RVD has no purpose in the match

HHH pins Kane, because he can and always does

HBK pins Jericho, just so HBK gets a win

HHH pins HBK, because HBK owes him the job

Booker pins HHH, because HHH doesn't need the title to draw with HBK

BOOKER WINS THE BIG ONE, BABY!

A feud with Scott Steiner ensues around Rumble time, Steiner wins, jobs to HHH at WM.

Kane turning heel at this point makes absolutely no sense. Who would they have him fued with after the Survivor Series, whether he won the WWE Title or not? I can only think of RVD and Booker T. If he stays face, well, he only really has Jericho and HHH to fued with. Unless, the WWE wants to push someone else. :o

RVD having no point being in the Chamber match is exactly why I think he wins it. Booker won't win it because he's got a feud with Jericho after this show. HHH and HBK will draw fine on its own. Kane sucks anyway and has gotten all the revenge he's going to get on HHH. By process of elimination, that leaves RVD. He has no feud to bog him down here, and I know the crowd would love to see him win it.

To everyone saying a Kane turn is WCW booking and makes no sense, thanks for backing up my prediction! I mean, not making sense is the catalyst of RAW booking!

I don't think giving RVD the belt without a buildup would do match. They need to tease it a little. Just randomly giving him the title because they can't think up a feud for him would set up the title run to fail.

Can't happen. They already taped the matches for tomorrow and Christian & Jericho are tag champs.

Agreed. They are not just gonna put the belt on RVD with no build whatsoever. Or Booker. If the title changes hands, it's unfortunately going to Shawn Michaels, and I believe it will. He's the only one been given a good push going into this.

On the Kane heel turn possibility, it would be the only way to get him out of the career death this Katie Fick angle has been, so I guess it's possible, but not before the PPV I think. More likely Christian will be added after the UPN special to make it 3 faces vs. 3 heels. It would make sense (sort of), he was complaining about Jericho being in the match and not him. Then again when it comes to WWE right now, what's sense got to do got to do with it?

They did put the belt on Big Show at Survivor Series 1999 with no build whatsoever, so I wouldn't discount the possibility of RVD, Booker T or Kane winning.

My bet would be Kane. Remember, Show won the title as (seemingly) an apology for going through that stupid "My dad is dying" feud with Bossman.

I could see Kane winning the title Sunday as apology for the Katie Vick storyline, defending it at the December PPV against...um...Jericho (why not job him out again), and then dropping it to HHH on RAW. Just like Big Show did.

The Bossman feud started before Survivor Series, kind of culminated there, then started up again afterwards when Bossman inexplicably won a No. 1 contender's match over The Rock.

the bigshow thing was different, he was a last minute replacement for austin going out with the neck injury and they thought they'd take a chance. it was between him and test. their hand hasn't been forced into doing something unexpected to make up for screwing the fans over this time, so i doubt they'd do it. and giving show the title with no build went over about as well as doing it here would. there needs to be a chase. kane and shawn are the only two options, and i think shawn gets the nod.

and the show/bossman feud continued into his title reign - it started before though.

More likely Christian will be added

Well, all of a sudden an implausible Kane turn doesn't seem so crazy does it?

Oh, and shucks, I was wrong.
