Guest Redhawk Report post Posted November 12, 2002 the bigshow thing was different, he was a last minute replacement for austin going out with the neck injury and they thought they'd take a chance. it was between him and test. their hand hasn't been forced into doing something unexpected to make up for screwing the fans over this time, so i doubt they'd do it. and giving show the title with no build went over about as well as doing it here would. there needs to be a chase. kane and shawn are the only two options, and i think shawn gets the nod. There was nothing "last-minute" about it. They knew good and hell well that Austin wasn't going to work that match. And besides that, they could have just let HHH keep the belt. I use the Big Show '99 example with Kane for these reasons: -- Both guys were in the middle of an embarassingly bad angle. -- Both guys weren't the favorite's to win the multiple-persons match, so it would be a "swerve" -- Both guys were sympathetic babyfaces -- It's Survivor Series -- Triple H will win the belt back on free TV
Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted November 12, 2002 i wasn't meaning 'last minute' last minute, more that austin had been advertsied for the show and a lot of fans were justifiably pissed. putting the belt onto show was a swerve and diverted attention away from the austin deal. it was only a temporary thing, a diversionary talking point, evidenced by by the demonseed }-{}-{}-{ regaining it shortly afterwards on free tv. i guess they could replay that angle out on sunday, but it seems like it would be extraordinarily counterproductive to kick off a fresh title change like that. i still say shawn's the only logical choice here.
