Although nothing is confirmed at this point, there have been a few ideas tossed around at recent production meetings to slightly modify the Royal Rumble match stipulations. Due to the seperation in rosters, the original concept behind the Rumble for many years would not work out so well. At one point, there was small talk of having the Rumble match take place in two rings, one for RAW, one for SmackDown! That idea has since been scrapped, but McMahon is said to still be open for modifications to the match. Many are pushing for McMahon to leave the format as it is due to the longevity and prestige behind the match. However, due to past stipulations, the winner of the match is to receive a heavyweight title shot at WrestleMania. There are currently two heavyweight champions at this point, which complicates the stipulations involved in the Royal Rumble match in January. Ok... I got a suggestion.... I dunno how about. DROP THIS MORONIC ROSTER BRAND EXTENSION CRAP! Seems this lame ass concept will again Eliminate another bankable WWF tradition. Royal Rumble match...GONE! just like the Survivor Series..is GONE! and the Euro..Hardcore and IC titles....GONE! Anything else we wanna trash? any other match, title, segment we want to just ruin? How about this Idea.... NO WRESTLING AT ALL! Obviously this wrestling crap is just subtracting segments away from HHH... How about a Solid 2 hour show of non Stop HHH Talking. Yea that should Make Money right??? Not only a Full Show of HHH, but Commercials with HHH hocking HHH Merchandise. YEA that would be a Ratings Draw Right??? RIGHT??? I SAID RIGHT???? Someone should Shoot Vince from atop the Titan Towers with a Dart Gun, kidnap him and make him watch 48 hours of NON STOP WRESTLING! Make him remember Ricky steamboat vs Randy Savage for the IC title...remember the IC title... How about Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon.... HBK vs Bret Hart Iron Man Match, Bulldogs vs Dream teams. Anything! and then Dope him up again..and make him Just watch 2 hours of this past RAW... So He can COMPARE and CONTRAST what was good Wrestling Sports entertainment...and what is PURE CRAP! Then have their entrance number decide what belt they get to wrestle over. But of course they will think up some complex and/or stupid way to settle the problem. Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted November 14, 2002 Have it be like this: 15 RAW Wrestlers vs 15 Smackdown Wrestlers, starting with 1 RAW wrestler vs 1 Smackdown wrestler and alternating every entrance. RAW wrestlers can only eliminate Smackdown wrestlers and vice versa until there is only All one brand's wrestlers left in the ring. At that point whoever is last in the ring wins the right to go for thier brand's Title. Fans come to see THIS, not some "Brand Split" baloney that none of the WWE braintrust have tried to paint as seperate entities. Raw STILL advertises the Smackdown talent and vice-versa. How are WE supposed to believe there's any legitimate heat between Bischoff and Stephanie, when they were making out?!? The only difference I see between Raw and SD! is Raw=Crap and SD!=Not Crap. I'm sure most fans feel the same. The rosters still don't seem to be frozen, so any heat between specific wrestlers on different brands are null and void. The only way the concept of "every man for himself" will stay true, is if the titles are unified at the Royal Rumble, allowing for one wrestler to float over the brands, or the brand extension is eliminated at the same PPV. Well, since you've never seen it, that explains it. It sounds cool, but it's 20 guys, in 3 rings (split in helpful fashion on the screen into 3 seperate smaller arial views of each ring), it's impossible to see what's going on. First of all half the match are jobbers and you know most won't win anyway. Guys get thrown out without ryme or reason, and you can't tell half the time because they're too busy cutting between the different rings, or they have the impossible triple split screen view where it's impossible to tell whats' going on. So like all of you have said, just keep the Rumble as it is (say 15 from Raw and 15 from Smackdown to make it "fair") and have whoever wins the match get the wrestle for their title in the MAIN EVENT of WM. The other brand can have their title match but it can't be in the coveted final spot. Makes sense right? Right, too much in fact so the WWE will fuck it up... Have 15 RAW superstars and 15 Smackdown superstars wrestle each other, and whoever wins, gets a shot at his shows heavyweight title. 2. Have the winner of the Royal Rumble unify both the WWE Title and the World Title, thus becoming the new WWE Undisputed Champion, and defending it against the winner of a #1 Contenders match at No Way Out, with the winner facing the champion at Wrestlemania 19. In a World War 3 match, the viewers are the losers. Vince would be out of his mind to replace a WW_ staple with that convoluted, hard-to-watch, hard-to-book-properly clusterfuck of a wCw idea. Besides, how could you fit three WW_ size rings in one arena? Sure it was easy with those glorified trampolines Turner used, but not so with Vince's mats. Although, with attendance dropping like flies, you could probably fill the arena floor with as many rings as you want. I've said it before and I'll say it again. wCw is dOa. let it r.I.p. As it stands, there's no way for RR to retain its prestige with the Brand Extension. Two titles means half the honour of winning, any way you slice it.
