Guest bravesfan Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 -A new feature is being implemented into the Pigskin Pick'em contest, entitled "Lock Of The Week". Each week, I will designate (2) two games (both between high win % teams) with a "Lock of the Week" option. It is your CHOICE to choose one (1) of these games and make your selection for "Lock of the Week"... Rules --You may only choose one of the two games. --It is completely optional to participate, but correctly predicting your "Lock of the Week" will earn bonus points --CORRECTLY predicting the "Lock of the Week" will earn you (1) one bonus point, helpful in the quest for the bonus. --INCORRECTLY predicting the "Lock of the Week" will deduct (1) point from your week total. Be careful. This is basically a way for those who may have started late, or are in the middle of the pack, to risk their way into contention. The leaders of the contest will have to prove their lead, with correct predictions throughout the weeks. Remember, because the final wave of byes have concluded last week, the bonus has been upped to 13 points. Start predicting! [All picks due 1:00 P.M. EST on Sunday] Arizona at Philadelphia Buffalo at Kansas City Cleveland at Cincinnati Dallas at Indianapolis Green Bay at Minnesota Jacksonville at Houston New Orleans at Atlanta [LOCK OF THE WEEK OPTION] Pittsburgh at Tennessee Washington at N.Y. Giants Carolina at Tampa Bay San Francisco at San Diego Baltimore at Miami Denver at Seattle N.Y. Jets at Detroit New England at Oakland [LOCK OF THE WEEK OPTION] Chicago at St. Louis NOTE: Chicago/St. Louis is the Monday Night game.

Guest Flyboy Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 *sees everyone going with Atlanta* *damns them* Just because the Falcons BARELY beat the Saints once doesn't mean they can do it again. I'm going out on a limb to say that this game will be the GotW (Game of the Week).

I'm going out on a limb to say that this game will be the GotW (Game of the Week). Not much of a limb to go out on, the last Falcons/Saints matchup was a great game, back and forth the entire time. New Orleans/Atlanta is an underrated rivalry (probably cause both usually are not very good), one of the fiercest in the NFL.

Guest Flyboy Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 New Orleans/Atlanta is an underrated rivalry (probably cause both usually are not very good), one of the fiercest in the NFL. When you mean usually... do you mean, the past couple of years or this year? Because, this year the Saints have been tearing teams apart this season (Tampa, Green Bay, and the Niners).

Was just about to edit that out of my post. What I meant was that historically both teams haven't been very good (they've had their ups and downs). This year, of course New Orleans is one of the best teams in the NFL and Super Bowl contenders, and Atlanta is a playoff team.

Guest Flyboy Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 I'm glad to see someone agrees that the Saints ARE a Super Bowl contender... if not this year, then if they shape up their defense then they will be there in at least 2-3 years. Deuce McAllister has given that team.. I don't know, but it's working.

Guest Tyler McClelland Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 May as well get down on this... Philadelphia Kansas City Cleveland Indianapolis Green Bay Jacksonville New Orleans LOCK OF THE WEEK Pittsburgh Washington Tampa Bay San Francisco Miami Denver Detroit Oakland St. Louis
Guest bravesfan Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 Because, this year the Saints have been tearing teams apart this season (Tampa, Green Bay, and the Niners). As much as I LIKE the Saints, they definitely did not have any credible offense in the first 3 quarters against the Niners in Week 7. Who knows what would've happened, if Mariucci had accepted the penalty to keep the defense on the field in the final 2 minutes? On a lighter note, what will happen if these two teams meet up in the playoffs? Ahh, no need to predict there, Flyboy... For a little background on the Saint's bumbling in the late months, let's not forget the 49ers' holy massacre of the Saints last year, eh? EDIT:
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 Philadelphia Kansas City Cleveland Indianapolis Green Bay..Favre in a dome..please Vikings.. Guest goodolemr Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 The Saints/Falcons game will most likely be the game of the week, simply because the Saints defense is suspect and all the games they’ve played this season have been close. Truth be told, this Falcons game worries me more than the Tampa Bay game, which I believe the Saints play on Dec 1st.

Guest Flyboy Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 For a little background on the Saint's bumbling in the late months, let's not forget the 49ers' holy massacre of the Saints last year, eh? I don't like Ricky Williams... so therefore, I didn't like the Saints last year. During the fourth quarter, the Saints picked up their game.. and the Niners couldn't hold McAllister or the Saints WRs. So, it doesn't matter... the Saints still won. *dances* And, the Saints DO play Tampa Bay on the Dec 1st. I know their whole schedule.
Guest Flyboy Posted November 14, 2002 Report Posted November 14, 2002 I'm just doing this for fun because I decided to come in Week 11, and I have no real chance of winning the overall thingy. With that said... Philadelphia Buffalo Cleveland Indianapolis Green Bay Jacksonville New Orleans Pittsburgh N.Y. Giants Tampa Bay San Francisco Baltimore Denver N.Y.
