Tribute album...where a bunch of people come together and record songs by one artist.

I'm going with "Where the Pyramid Meet the Eye," a tribute to Roky Erickson.

The cd has R.E.M. and the Butthole Surfers doing songs, other then that it's a ton of artists who never made it big or even simi big.

Songs include "Burn the Flames," "I Walked with a Zombie," "Two Headed Dog," "If You Have Ghosts," "Shake me Luicifer," and a bunch others. Just about all of his songs were about spooky things, ghosts, demons, and whatnot...but they were done well enough where they didn't come off as novelty.

I've always been a mark fo rthe Duran Duran tribute cd. Less than jake, riverfenix, the deftones, reel big fish, goldfinger, Gob, and one of the best songs ever recorded (jimmy eat world "new religion")? Are you kidding me? It's amazing.

well, it's DEFINITELY not "In memory of Celtic Frost", which sucks the meat missile. Probably the first Nativity in Black cd.

disintegrated - hardcore tribute to the cure's disintegration album

features: Cave In, When Fear And Weapons Meet, Converge, Chimaira, Neck, The Bad Luck 13 Riot Extravaganza, Another Nothing

Converge does "disintegration" -it is out of this world

Highly Highly recomended they all do a serious take on the songs (except much heavier natch) except for BL13 who totally rip apart "pictures Of You" but its pretty funny

only song not on it from the real album is Lovesong which was supposed to be on by Diecast but some label trouble caused it to fall apart

A means to an end - Joy Division

worth it just for

Moby- New Dawn Fades

GvsB - Shes Lost Control

POST MORTEM: THE TRIBUTE TO SLAYER

...and...

METALLIC ASSAULT: A TRIBUTE TO METALLICA.

Those are the best I've heard.

Nativity In Black I. That's about the only good tribute CD I've ever heard. Unfortunatley, the second one sucks balls.

Kiss My Ass: A Tribute to Kiss

It has Lenny Kravitz, Gin Blossoms, Anthrax, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Dinosaur jr. and even Garth Brooks(!?)

Kiss rules, even covered by other bands.

It's a good CD, but Lenny Kravitz just ruined "Deuce" on that CD, he can go to hell.

Not sure if this counts as a tribute album, but that stinkin'

Saturday Morning's Greatest Hits is phat, 90's bands covering

60's/70's Toon tunes... Helmet kicks wicked total ass on "Gigantor"

Songs of a Goddess, a tribute to Tori Amos. It's not so much that it's a good tribute, as much as I like covers to be complete reinterpretations of songs, and this album certainly does that. Voltaire doing "Caught a Lite Sneeze" is almost worth the purchase. Almost.

I seem to remember some German techo outfit doing a swank tribute album to Motzart or Beethoven. Anyone else remember that? I really should've picked that up when given the chance.
