Actually it was HBK that was hearing some boos in his opening promo

Now that I think about it...

they'd better hope that wherever they are on Monday takes a different look at HBK, or the crowd is going to flat out make him the heel in the match.

If the match is hot, then I think they won't really have that problem. If it's a run-of-the-mill Raw main, then I'm betting the reaction is split about 65-35 in favor of Van Dam.

I guess it will just be another one of those things that should tell the WWE something...but will not.

For me it belongs on Raw, howver for the masses who make up Vinces ratings it probably belongs on a ppv. But of course HGH knows better

HBK tried using new catch phrases like Newwwwwwwwwwwwwww world champion but the crowd were silient.....a minute later they were chanting R-V-D when they saw the thumb signal.

its pure Pavlovian (sp?) response.

I still cannot understand the never put on good matches on tv arguement. the ratings are in a downward spiral down the toilet, and your demanding that the neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew World Champ sit on it until his friend gets healthy?

I don't care that they put it on TV, saves me the trouble of finding it for download.

Business wise it makes no sense, because RVD vs. HBK for the first time, will draw better than HHH vs. HBK on the third time.

But hey, he's family.

I'm beginning to think that maybe RVD was supposed to walk out of Survivor Series with the title. I think the only reason why he was eliminated so early was the thought that his knee had been blown out. Maybe putting the title on HBK was a last minute type deal, so I wouldnt be surprised to see RVD win it on Raw. I could be wrong though.

I don't know about that, the confetti at the end, would that have been for RVD? They would have also had to change the structure of the match, RVD would have had to cleanly beat Jericho AND triple H, and the only person who is allowed to beat triple h these days is shawn michaels, so no, i think that it was planned all along for old hbk to win it, just a shame that rvd and hbk never got a chance to face off.

(my first post btw :D )

First, yeah RVD did get some heelish responses at times but he was doing slightly heelish things. I mean, breaking up Booker's pin attempts and even using his finisher on him....those are heel moves.

Oh, I definitely wondered why they would give this match away on TV. I called them morons for doing so....that said I'm glad to see the match.

However, I completely disagree with BPS on it not hurting RVD to job clean to Shawn. It would be a complete disaster in my view. There is no way in hell Shawn should go over anyone in the upper card at all.

This is the situation they have booked themselves into.

I think they'll take a look and realize Shawn is a liability as champ, and that HHH is hurt for now.....therefore RVD should win this thing.

I think RVD was supposed to lose and go out first.

I also think the WWE was shocked (because they are idiots) by how over he was and how pissed everyone was when he lost, so they chose him to be the placeholder until HHH came back.

All I'm saying is if he's going to lose, I'd rather it just be clean, instead of HHH running out and transfering all of RVD's heat onto HBK.

RVD's lost this match many times already, and he's still the most over. So it doesn't really hurt him.

The match will end 2 ways:

A) HHH will come out.. hit HBK with the SLEDGEHAMMER O' DOOM~! and RVD will win.

OR

B) HHH will come... "accidently" hit RVD with the SO'D. HBK will pin RVD, RVD will kick out. HBK will proceed to give RVD the thrust kick of his, and HBK is the winner.

There. I just spoiled the main event of Raw for everyone.

Van Dam isn't as over as he should be, or once was, back in the Austin running the Alliance days, using an example for when Austin challenged the next person who came through the door to a match, and it was RVD, THAT was real overness, he's just gone downhill since then, but seems to be getting back into it lately, see where it leads, starting with this monday.

Dream match? Most marks never cared much for Shawn when he was the ace of the promotion, let alone now.

I don't see how you could justify that.

Easy. Shawn's period as world champion in 1996 was probably the lowest point in WWF business, ever. Glad that I could help.

I mean, I didn't see Raw, but from what I heard, it wasn't RVD who was getting all the support, but Booker, and Rob was even getting booed in some instances.

I don't know who told you this, but I don't ever remember Van Dam getting booed since the early Alliance days.

I don't remember him being booed even then. However, he's been booed in promo's before, such the one on HHH where he tried to be sarcastic.

When Van Dam came in with ECW, he wasn't booed, his natural cockyness and his ability got him over nearly straight away, and during his match with jeff, in to the match, he got te majority of cheers anyway, so i can't see how RVD was ever booed...

Who else is HBK gonna fight?  This is a perfect match for RAW.  HHH will interfer and there will be a ThreeWay battle at the next PPV.  Damn people want better RAW shows and now you have one and you are still bitching.

I'm not bitching, just stating that giving away a match the caliber of HBK vs. RVD on an episode of RAW is bad for buisness.

And again, don't look for HHH interference anytime soon- if you read the interview, he's gone for at least 10 more days and possiably more.

-Dduo

Under that logic, the Guerreros, Benoit, and Angle should put on shitty matches and be squashed and treated like jobbers by the hosses of SD every week on TV so that they can do their little circle jerk on PPVs.

Dream match? Most marks never cared much for Shawn when he was the ace of the promotion, let alone now. As for RVD, I hate to continue the pesimism, but what has he done this year besides act as fodder for Trips and Taker? Not a whole helluva lot, and I can't see why this would be anymore of a "dream match" than HBK vs. any other filler talent.

I mean, I didn't see Raw, but from what I heard, it wasn't RVD who was getting all the support, but Booker, and Rob was even getting booed in some instances. If it's true, it not only confirms my belief that fans no longer care about Rob, but that the WWE STILL won't listen to what the fans want and will probably miss the boat with Booker as well. What a mess this company is.

Before you make comments like that you better have your facts straight or you'll look like a fool, RVD was way over and for Booker I doubt that Vince will ever give the title to him.

My sentiments exactly.

Whoever thinks Booker has been getting bigger reactions than RVD has been watching RAW with ear-muffs.

Remeber kids, the rectum is NOT an adequete tool for communication.

(Oh, and most of the marks *love* HBK. You know that thing he keeps getting when he comes out? That's called a pop. Look into it.)

1. Ricky, he's called Kevin Nash. (Don't forget about Taker, Sid, and Yoko)

DO YOUR HOMEWORK

2. He was booed during his entrance.

Then he got tagged in against Eddy Guerrero.

And he stole the match right from him.

Funny how I ALREADY SAID THAT I GOT THAT FROM A SECOND PARTY SOURCE, WHICH I SPECIFIED IN THE ORIGINIAL STATEMENT. Reading. It's your friend.

Remeber kids, the rectum is NOT an adequete tool for communication.

Listen bud, if you want to make comments that have already been addressed several times through-out the post, feel free, but don't follow that up by accusing me of not knowing what I'm talking about.

(Oh, and most of the marks *love* HBK. You know that thing he keeps getting when he comes out? That's called a pop. Look into it.)

And you should look into reading what others have to say before you try to go and be witty (and fail, at that). As previously stated, Shawn was an abysmal draw as champion, and according to several sources IN THIS THREAD (still haven't read it, have you?) he got several boos in his promo on Raw.

Do your homework indeed.

1. Ricky, he's called Kevin Nash. (Don't forget about Taker, Sid, and Yoko)

Correct if I somehow caught the wrong year of WWF TV than you, but as I remember it, Diesel was gone about a month to Michaels' reign as champion, and the buy rates only went down further. Oh, I didn't forget Sid, either. He's the guy who got the crowd to openly boo Shawn even though he was supposed to be the face, right?

sorry. I thought that you were addressing when he said to do your homework about Shawn being one of the worst drawing champions and whatnot. NEver mind, my mistake.

Just wondering, where do you find out how someone is drawing as a champion?

Search the RSPW archives for the Gordy List done on Shawn Michaels by John Williams. Really great evaluation of Michaels as both a draw and a worker.
