Guest The Superstar Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Ok, I lucked out and I'm doing a research paper on the downfall of WWE. Basically I'm compiling info about WWE losing money, ratings, attendance, etc. I want to take a survey and see what you guys think... Where do you live?: How long have you been watching wrestling? What WWE program(s) do you currently watch? Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? If yes, why? What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? Thanks for filling this out.
Guest Chuck Woolery Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Where do you live?: Littleton, New Hampshire How long have you been watching wrestling? Going on two years. What WWE program(s) do you currently watch? Raw, oftentimes Confidential, sometimes Heat. Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? Nope. What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? I think that they're going through a rough patch because of a refusal to let the old guard die. I think they could rectify this problem easily, and I enjoyed Raw, which is a good sign. My only worry is that they will fold before they can fix their current problems
Guest converge241 Report post Posted November 22, 2002 no prob i did an economic paper on WWE (and some other companies ignoring the laws of supply and demand) Where do you live?: Massachusetts How long have you been watching wrestling? since january 1986 What WWE program(s) do you currently watch? none Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? yes all of them If yes, why? they just need to get back to basics and stop worrying about trying to be "cute" or shocking What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? stuck in a rut with too many false attempts to really motivate into getting out of it. Instead of really sitting around thinking how to fix things, they concentrate on just touring in places they havent been in a while, to boast the bottom line financial reporting figures on an unrelated note "Where do you live?: Littleton, New Hampshire" i love the littelton diner/area ! im up there every october *dreams of monte christo sandwich*
Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Where do you live? Salt Lake City, Utah How long have you been watching wrestling? Since the summer of 1996. What WWE program(s) do you currently watch? WWE RAW, WWE SmackDown!, WWE Confidential Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? Yes (WWE Velocity, WWE Heat) If yes, why? I feel that I have better things to do on my weekend than sit through a sub-par wrestling program. What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? Things are very down, and it is difficult to enjoy their programming when they continue to repeat the same things they've been doing for the past three years. I continue to watch because there is little alternative. I think that that Vince McMahon would probably rather let the company fold than actually admit he's doing something wrong. Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Where do you live?: Dothan, Alabama How long have you been watching wrestling? 17 years What WWE program(s) do you currently watch? Smackdown and RAW only when I'm extremely bored Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? Yes If yes, why? Because of the rampant stupidity prevailent on RAW and most of the crappy angles/storylines, and shitty wrestling. It just got to the point where I didn't even care about the main guys who kept me watching RAW(Booker T and Jericho). What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? Greatest roster in the world, but also the lamest bookers. They seemingly ignore what the fans want and continue to do the dumbest things. They need a serious overhaul in the creative department and Vince needs to either retire outright or stop listening to the people he's been listening to lately. Guest Ram Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Where do you live?: Tennessee, USA. How long have you been watching wrestling?: Since 1991, religiously since late 1994. What WWE program(s) do you currently watch?: RAW, Smackdown!, Heat, Velocity, and Confidential. Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently?: Nope. If yes, why?: See above. What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment?: On the verge of a transitional point. Thinks are going down, and it seems the things they've relied on during their boom period are not as reliable as they had been before. Smackdown brand is really good, with only a few points that reflect the old stage of things. RAW, however, is quite mediocre with only good performers dancing on crap. RAW seems to be a spoof of basically what is wrong with the current WWE. I still love wrestlings and often find things to enjoy from the show, but the magic of the past isn't there as it had been. It can easily be fixed, but, again, the WWE seems too stubborn to change.
Guest Chuck Woolery Report post Posted November 22, 2002 i love the littelton diner/area ! im up there every october *dreams of monte christo sandwich* I know. Our restaurant scene is about the only place that this town doesn't suck. I'm assuming you've checked out the Coffee Pot for breakfast? My friend's parents own the place, and it's almost definitely the best place to eat breakfast within a half-hour's drive.

Smackdown, Velocity & PPVs Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? Raw & Confidential If yes, why? Raw: Low interest in the latest happenings. Confidential: Nothing of note ever happens anymore. What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? It's definitely on the downturn. Partially economics but mostly the lack of entertainment in the product as a whole.
Guest Chuck Woolery Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Heh, but New England rocks. *thumbs up, cheap pop* I forgot all about Polly's... they are better, you would be correct. The Clam Shell is great, although I liked their lounge a lot better than eating in their main, uh, eating area. That might just be age, though.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Where do you live?: - BC, Canada How long have you been watching wrestling? - 1988 What WWE program(s) do you currently watch? - Raw, Smackdown, Velocity, Confidential, Heat, PPV's Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? - NEVER!!! What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? - The WWE is in a bit of a funk right now, which I believe is due to the brand extension. The Raw and Smackdown rosters are both great but neither of them are good enough to have their own shows in my opinion. Both shows have great world title contenders but other than that both shows are lacking. The storylines have been borderline embarrassing for both Raw and Smackdown and I feel that the WWE will have to make a change in the writing department before things are going to pick up for them. Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Where do you live?: Rockville, Maryland (outside of DC) How long have you been watching wrestling? For about 10 years casually but have been a hardcore fan the last 6 years What WWE program(s) do you currently watch? Always Raw, Smackdown. Occasionally Heat, Velocity, Confidential. Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? No What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? It's an interesting mix of good and bad. On one hand we're being given some of the most awesome free TV matches we've ever seen from the usual crew on Smackdown, but on the other hand, RAW has been pushing crap like HLA and Necrophilia down our throat in an attempt to shock us and attract more viewers, but its done the opposite and taken them a while to figure it out. Also the contant push of Triple H at the top and stupid moves like Big Show and Shawn Michaels being champions while guys like RVD, Booker, Angle, Benoit just get wasted in the midcard is disheartening. They need to continue putting out good matches, but at the same time abandon pushes for the likes of Big Show, Michaels and Triple H and focus on people the fans WANT to see like RVD or Booker. Guest razazteca Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Where do you live?: Texas, closest big city is San Antonio How long have you been watching wrestling? since 87 off and on What WWE program(s) do you currently watch? Raw, Velocity, Confidental, Heat....no UPN Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? yes, because Football was better at the time, damn you for the Katie Vick BS If yes, why? tastless skit, same outcome on a weekly basis, boring matches with predictable finish What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? well considering that the champion is a wrestler that will not be with the company long term due to health reasons it look bleak, HBK should not be champion. The Tough Enough show is pushing contest winners who should not be on tv, while some fan favorites are barely getting 5 minutes to develop any type of character. Bad costumes along with a character killing angle did nothing for Kane's credibility, as the mask man should of developed into something new other then the tired Undertaker brother character, the teasing of losing the mask never had closure. The female talent are finally wrestling in the ring with an actual storyline that does not involve a Strip Club gimmick. The new talent that is being pushed are not wrestlers that I would like to see, the Island Boys, need some real ring gear and not kill old people or women. Batista was given a workout video being played for nearly a month before his 1st apperance on Raw yet all he does is have 2 minute squashes, but looks like to be managed by Flair which could be good, too bad he has to work with HHH who will over shadow his development. The World restuarant in NYC should closedown or change owners.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Where do you live?: Ottawa, ON How long have you been watching wrestling? March 1988 What WWE program(s) do you currently watch? Smackdown, Velocity, Confedential Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? RAW, Heat, PPVs If yes, why? The writing is horrible, and the wrestling is not nearly good enough to sit through the skits. What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? A tale of two brands. Smackdown has been quite entertaining, while RAW had been awful until I quit watching it. The biggest problem, and this affects both shows, is that the wrong people are always being pushed and there is a stagnant feel about it because wrestlers like HHH win all the time. Since HHH is a heel, this is a problem. Nobody goes to see James Bond, only to see the villain win all the time.

WWE Raw, WWE Confidential and I download PPV matches Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? No What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? It definately is not the best time for wrestling right now. I think wrestling is in a slump right now. There is a lot of bad stuff being produced on TV, but there still is some good quality wrestling that is shown.

Monday Night Raw, Sunday Night Heat, Thursday Night Smackdown Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? No If yes, why? Answer was No What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? The plots could be a lot better but right now they aren't as bad as they could be. Some plots are good(Angle vs Benoit, Guerreros/Edge and Rey, HBK vs RVD Respect thing, Steiner). Since I consider myself to still be a 'mark' somewhat I usually enjoy most of the things that the WWE shows.

RAW, Confidential Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? Smackdown If yes, why? I read the spoilers - if there's something worthwhile that week I'll turn it on for that What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? If it ain't broke don't fix it. That's what they should have told Vince before the brand extension. Hogan was a temporary bandage on the declining business earlier in the year, but everything after Wrestlemania has been downhill. They have the talent, but they don't know how to use it. Nothing short of the return of Austin and/or Rock will keep the company out of bankruptcy within the next 12 months

Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Where do you live?: Moore, Oklahoma How long have you been watching wrestling? 12 years What WWE program(s) do you currently watch? WWE RAW and WWE SMACKDOWN! In addition I order EVERY PPV. Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? I never really have watched anything else but the 2 main shows. If yes, why? I don't watch HEAT because I work. What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? I think that they are being very self-centered. They have the goods but they don't seem to know how to use it. They try to redo things that brought them to the top in the first place but those don't work anymore. They are trying to use the stars of Attitude to create a new generation and that is not working either. Coincedentally those are the ones that have the power backstage. They need to build new stars but they seem to refuse. Anytime they take a step forward they turn around and run backwards. When asked about there refusal to build new stars they claim it is a slow process, but this slow process has taken a few years! HHH was shoved down our throats and created in around 8 months as a star. It didn't take a few years like it seems to be taking with everyone else. When confronted with there problems they make excuses or pass the fan off as someone who can never be pleased. They need to wake up and smell the roses. As of right now all they smell is there own shit.

RAW, Smackdown, sometimes Velocity, Confidential, Heat, and Tough Enough Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? Almost stopped watching RAW out of pure boredom. What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? To me, it's basically feast or famine. You have the really good, or the really bad, there doesn't seem to be much flow in the shows right now. The bigger issue is a combination between the old guard trying to hold onto their positions on top, and the writing team not knowing how to advance storylines without having someone turn face or heel every two weeks. Overall, there's JUST enough to keep me watching right now.

Nope If yes, why?nope What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? The writing needs a lot of improvement and the proper wrestlers needs to be featured for the good of the company. Smackdown is much better than RAW because of the talented wrestlers. I would rather see wrestling than 2nd rate entertainment.

I work most during the end of the week on odd hours. What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment?: It could be vastly superior. Smackdown is doing great, by sticking the Smackdown 6 together week in and out, they're pretty much garunteeing a *** star match every show. RAW could be vastly superior if it wasn't stuck in 1999. HHH is not needed as the center of attention. There are 3 perfectly acceptable workers ready to be pushed, but nothing is done about it. I watch out of sheer hope that they'll do the right thing. What WWE program(s) do you currently watch? - Raw, Smackdown, Tough Enough, PPVs Have you stopped watching any WWE programs recently? - I gave up on Heat, and I have no time for Velocity or Confidential. What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? - I think it's the best group of wrestling talent ever assembled... and the shows are ruined by miserable writing. That's why the PPVs are usually very good, and the free shows range from decent to godawful. The WWE needs to focus on what made it popular... wrestling. Not films, not music, not the mainstream press. And they need to beat the Wildlife Fund and get their rightful name back. That's about it.

What is your opinion of the current state of World Wrestling Entertainment? I think its in great shape considering the lack of competition. I find entertainment in the shows, however I think that there's a lot of untapped talent just sitting there, and WWE isn't providing such people the oppurtunity to develop. Instead we often get the same group of people on every show.
