Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted November 22, 2002 FROM THE INSIDE by Jeremy Borash Updated: 11/22/2002 3:38:19 PM From the Inside with Jeremy Borash For Friday, November 22, 2002 Greetings from Music City, where the leaves are falling faster than Paul Reuben's career status. I have a ton of news to cover… so let's get to it! I wasn't sure if a non-X-Division match could ever top what our X-Division athletes do, but Jarrett-Truth definitely did, getting great reviews for their compelling storytelling and great action this past Wednesday night. If you missed this epic title bout, definitely catch the replay on iN-Demand or DirecTV. Jarrett showed why he is a main eventer, and one of the best workers in the world today. He has the Ric Flair-esque ability to have a great match with just about anyone. Someone just emailed me an mp3 in which Kevin Nash was a guest on WCW Live! a few years back, actively doing major business in the bathroom during the interview, causing a log jam in his toilet. In a classic WCW Live! moment, Nash debated on whether to break up the said clog with a wire clothes hanger, or risk flooding the bathroom with the proverbial hopeful 2nd flush. Nash decided to leave it up to the fans, who called in large numbers to vote on the matter. Sure enough, the fans spoke up and opted for the nerve racking hopeful 2nd flush attempt. Nash did play-by-play for the flush, sticking the phone within close earshot of the said event as it happened. Thankfully, the fans voted the right choice, as the said clogged content made its way into the sewer system of Atlanta. No wonder the show wasn't picked up. Nash, by the way, isn't the only one to have been doing other business during our program. Hulk Hogan's infamous second appearance on WCW Live! was also done while holding court on the throne. I'll be reading Hulk's new book this weekend, as I'm sure it will be an interesting read. Jarrett's title win puts an end to the 3-month reign of Ron Killings, who has earned his spot as a top TNA performer as well, and is a star we can truly call our own. Their rematch this Wednesday night should be just as compelling. "Holy shit… its Vince Russo." Mike Tenay was not the only one uttering that phrase in the TNA Asylum this past Wednesday night. Tenay's reaction was genuine, as only four people were in the loop about the surprise. The crowd chanted Russo's name in the Asylum after the show went off the air. Some wrestling journalists are claiming that Russo's "creative impact" was already suspected with certain storylines and moments on the show. Once again, I'll take this time to correct those insiders who at times are about as inside as Yankee Stadium. Russo has not had a creative role in the company in over a month. Typically, anything risqué, controversial, or outlandish is immediately pinned on him. Russo's on-camera role is set to be an interesting one. He will be there this week. Those same "insiders" are also saying some within felt swerved by the company. Most are kept in the dark on purpose for that very reason. Instead of giving away our storylines, they are now telling those very publications how upset they were to be kept in the dark about it. Please take a moment to recognize the irony in that. Jeff Jarrett and I will be appearing on the upcoming WWA PPV show in Glasgow, Scotland. I will be doing the play-by-play for the Pay Per View, in what should be a beneficial cross promotion between the two companies. The show will tentatively air here in the states in February. Neither Jarrett nor myself will have a creative role in the project, but will be used as talent in a cross promoting venture. We will also be appearing on the Manchester and Belfast shows for the WWA. Good luck to former NWA champ Ken Shamrock tonight in his fight with Ortiz. Two security guards ended up in the emergency room after feeling the effects of some overly excited chair shots from Cowboy James Storm. Word has it they weren't too pleased with Storm's unsuspected violent nature, and may seek some retribution. The New Church has become a fantastic stable, and are over like mad with the Asylum crowd. Had a chance to finally spend some time with one-half of the NWA World Tag Champions, "Bulldozer" Brian Lee before the show on Wednesday. He has an interesting story and truly is a survivor of sorts. We talked about his memorable insane bump in the scaffold match (or whatever that was) at the Viking Hall with Tommy Dreamer a few years back. Speaking of the Viking Hall, I will be at the 3PW show tomorrow night in Philadelphia, visiting several friends I haven't had a chance to see in a while. It should be a great show headlined by a bullrope match between Dusty and Sullivan. That match alone should stir up some great memories. Also on the show will be TNA stars Kid Kash vs. Ron Killings, and Sabu will take on Syxx-Pac. This will be my first visit to the Viking Hall in well over two years. Show starts at 8pm on Saturday night. As much as I often vent about internet reporters, perhaps too much at times, in the interest of fairness, I would like to recognize a few journalists who I have become a big fan of, and make my list of recommended reading every week. We are held to a very high standard, and rightfully so. We are still a very young company, and deserve to be held accountable for our mistakes in a fair manner by those who watch our program and report on it in a fair way. First of all, Alex Marvez is one of the most talented writers out there and conducts some of the best interviews you will see in wrestling at www.wrestlingobserver.com. Damian Gonzalez from www.thesmartmarks.com gives the most comprehensive rundown of TNA PPVs anywhere on the internet, and while he often takes us to task, his knowledge of our product is very impressive, definitely earning my respect as a writer. Gregg Allnison's report of TNA PPV's at www.pwtorch.com is very well written, and gives a fair account of his impression of our program. While TNA has wrestling's true professor in Mike Tenay, www.1wrestling.com has their own professor in Buck Woodward. Buck has made great strides as a writer and I often find myself in total agreement of his opinions and in awe of his knowledge of wrestling history. I know I am missing quite a few people who deserve mention, but with all of the negativity the business shows towards the internet, there is fairness out there… it just isn't acknowledged very often. This is old news and a little overdue, but I'd like to congratulate Terry Taylor for getting back into the wrestling scene in the WWE. Terry has been nothing but helpful to me, and went out of his way to educate me to the ways of this business during our long car trips between towns on tour with WCW. Although we haven't talked in a long time, he is one I will always consider a friend. Had a chance to finally read Bobby Heenan's book. A fantastic read. Expect announcements for TNA in Asia and Australia soon. TNA presented a check to help the victims of the recent Tennessee tornadoes. We have donated the house receipts from the last two TNA events to the victims of these tragedies. Red vs. Lynn was fantastic as expected. Red's very soft spoken, "underdog kid with a ton of heart" persona has caught on like wildfire with the TNA crowd, who was completely split down the middle during their match. In fact, I noticed most of our "regulars" at the TNA Asylum cheering for whoever was on the defense at the time during their match. Red's name says it best. He is amazing. He is about as shy as they come, always showing respect, which has in-turn earned him the respect of the more experienced workers of TNA. Lookout Lynn and Styles, Red's star is rising faster than an "Infer-Red" from the top rope. Some have questioned our placement of world title matches on our program, especially when the X Title matches often go on last. While the NWA World Title is our most important title, our X Title is right up there in my eyes. Traditional? No. We don't want to be. I firmly believe TNA is the first national promotion in the U.S. to feature talent in our main events not based on size, but ability. I like watching Tyson fight as much as the next guy for the intrigue and pageantry of it all, however most true boxing enthusiasts though would prefer to see a De La Hoya fight for the quality of the contest. I think we have a great formula in mixing both into our program. Speaking of which, I've never been a fan of having too many belts. It just gets confusing after a while. Don West is in Arizona shooting an infomercial for a male enhancement product. No word yet on whether the company is giving him product to test on his personal time, but West's lovely wife and dear friend Terry has been quite happy as of late. The Jarrett package that aired before the title match was shot along the train tracks in downtown Nashville. Myself, Jarrett, and David Weber (aka Mortimer Plumtree) were questioned by police during the shoot, as we were in the dark that apparently the tracks are still active and off limits to the public. Who knew? It turns out the cop is the uncle of Marilyn Manson of all people, and also claimed to be an ex-lover of country singer Tanya Tucker. Thank god the cop was a fan, and will most likely be sitting ringside this Wednesday night, courtesy of TNA. Gotta love it. Speaking of which, my role in the company has slightly shifted, as I have gained a passion for creative video editing, which I am spending an ample amount of time doing for the TNA PPV's these days. Thanks to those who have passed along their compliments on the packages. TNA will once again be advertising in over sixty markets during Raw this Monday night. Crimson Dragon made a fine debut this week. He will return. The Briscoe's vs. Divine Storm (not to be confused with Devon Storm) will kick off the TNA PPV this week. These two teams tore the house down in a dark match two weeks ago and have some very high expectations placed on them for this week. Chris Divine, Quiet Storm, and their valet Trinity have been signed to deals with TNA. TNA has had preliminary talks with Zero-One. I think a working partnership would be beneficial, especially with our television expansion into Asia. NWA World Champion Jeff Jarrett, along with Mortimer Plumtree and yours truly appeared on "102.5 The Party" this morning helping with their annual Christmas Toy Drive. Scott, Cindy, and Brad About You are all big TNA fans. The Mayor of Nashville showed up as well, and immediately questioned where Goldylocks was, who caused a stir last time they met. Goldylocks, who always looks great, was wearing a lower cut top at the radio station's summer block party a few months back. When we were about to get a picture with G-Locks and the Mayor, his staff quickly stood in front of the cameras, preventing the picture from taking place, as the Mayor cannot be photographed with anyone sporting cleavage. While I don't think our the Mayor will be giving her the keys to the city, the subject came up on the air quite a bit this morning and was joked about by all. The show's two male hosts are possibly the biggest Goldy fans in Nashville, and have given her an open invitation to appear on the highly rated morning show. That is it for this week. I'll be hanging out like Michael Jackson's baby over a balcony tonight, then onto Philly tomorrow, and back here to gear up for the Jarrett / Truth rematch this Wednesday night back at on pay per view! Be safe, and have a great weekend! Jeremy Borash [email protected]

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted November 22, 2002 Congratulations Dames. Very cool indeed. And very deserved. Major props to Borash since he's the one who's adding the awesome video packages. The Briscoe Bros. return this week to face Divine Storm, and a Truth/JJ rematch. add that to Styles/Lynn part 48 and I'm pretty pumped again. I hope they get a deal done with zero-one. That would be pretty awesome

Guest Tony149 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 I wouldn't be surprised at all. Didn't they show some of the stuff 1wrestling & the Observer said about one of the matches a while back? If that does happen, Dames, you'll need to pimp that on the main page.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Oh man. Next time they build towards a bug match you'll have to make sure you gve some good one liners about it, in case they give it a Styles/Lynn video package.

Guest KingOfOldSchool Report post Posted November 23, 2002 Wow. I admit to not having seen TNA aside from a few select matches, although I do read Dames' TNA articles on occasion. But it's awesome seeing TheSmartMarks mentioned by name alongside two of the more premiere sites out there (and 1Wrestling) . Considering the way "a certain fed" looks down on internet fans, it's kinda surprising to me that TNA would take the time out to listen to what they have to say, going so far as to get some casual correspondence and feedback going with them.
