Guest EricMM Posted November 23, 2002 Report Posted November 23, 2002 I would like to ask what you all think the best videos are, period. I think they should match the song, and be good in their own right as well. I'll kick it off with Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" It matched the song perfectly, and they images of Jeremy standing in front of the flames with his arms in the V still give me goosebumps. It's the song, the images, the message, everything. What say you?
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Pearl Jam's "Do The Evolution" is a good video, too. Nirvana's "In Bloom"
Guest Kinetic Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 The Replacements' "Left of the Dial."
Guest Youth N Asia Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Bad Ronald "Let's Begin (Shoot the Shit)" *crickets chirping* Just kidding. I really like George Harrison's "Got My Mind Set on You"
Guest Nevermortal Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Cradle of Filth - "From the Cradle to Enslave". Blood, Suicide, Chained Men, Midgets, Demon Gods, Titties, Bush, this video has it all!
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 I second In Bloom. Im going to add Sober by Tool and Closer by NIN
Guest Musou Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Poem by Taproot is one of my personal favorites. Californication by RHCP rocks. Urhmmmm.....
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 "November Rain" is unquestionably the best music video ever. It actually enhances the song rather than just looking cool. Never have I ever seen a music video that actually made the song better than it already was. The closest competitor just didn't fuck the song up.
Guest dreamer420 Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 White America by Eminem I'm A Slave 4 U by Britney Spears (well it's the hotest anyway!)
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Beastie Boys - Sabotage is a personal favourite. Another unspeakably cool one is Radiohead - Just
Guest godthedog Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 tie between 'sabotage' and 'closer'. runners up: 'free as a bird', the beatles 'smack my bitch up', prodigy 'human behavior', bjork 'wynona's big brown beaver', primus any tool video. and shame on kinetic for not mentioning 'subterranean homesick blues'.
Guest Kinetic Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Yes, shame on me. The whole film from which it's derived, "Don't Look Back," is well worth the time and effort involved in seeing it.
Guest DawnBTVS Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Stereophonics - "Mr. Writer" Singing in a snowglobe and the clown makeup at the beginning just kicked ass. Realistically It's so F'n simple... "Beat It"-Michael Jackson Enuff Said right there! It's one the pioneers of music videos and even now is great to watch and I think it enhances the song as well.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Dirrty - Christina Aguileria
Guest spiny norman Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Madonna - Material Girl Michael Jackson - Thriller Queen - I Want To Break Free Fatboy Slim - Praise You Dire Straits - Money For Nothing That will do for now.
LaParkaYourCar Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Enter Sandman, Unforgiven, and One - Metallica
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Why the hell hasn't Michael Jackson been mentioned yet!? 'Thriller' by Mr. Jackson blows the shit out of anything ever made. However, 'November Rain', 'One', 'You Could Be Mine' and 'Black or White' (hey, morphing RULES) deserve mentions as well. Illusion - Music Video Material
Guest spiny norman Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 I thought I saw Michael Jackson in mine and dawnBTVS's lists? Maybe it's just those hallucinogens again.
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 I thought I saw Michael Jackson in mine and dawnBTVS's lists? Maybe it's just those hallucinogens again. So i missed it, guess im no longer perfect... Who am i kidding, of course im perfect, your all just on drugs. Illusion
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Use Your Illusion, Axl is looking at me in that picture like I am a little boy and he's trying to get me to get into his van so we can have some sort of encounter of the illegal kind. Anyway, I hate MJ's video's. They're so LONG. It's like "When the fuck is this song gonna start?"Agh I can't freaking stand them. WE'RE ZOMBIES AND WE'RE GONNA DANCE FOR TEN MINUTES BEFORE THIS MEDIOCRE MICHAEL JACKSON SONG STARTS BUT FIRST HE HAS TO WAVE SOME BABIES AROUND!
Guest Flyboy Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 "November Rain" -- Guns N' Roses.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 With the exception of "You Could Be Mine" (mainly because I haven't seen it), I have to agree with Mr. Use Your Illusion's list.
Guest Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 CoreyLazarus416 Posted on Nov 24 2002, 11:55 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With the exception of "You Could Be Mine" (mainly because I haven't seen it), I have to agree with Mr. Use Your Illusion's list. "You Could Be Mine" is good for a movie hype type of music video. Nothing special but well done to hype the song and the movie.
Guest The Hamburglar Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 A good music video is a thing of beauty. Prodigy - Smack My bitch up. Prodigy - Firestarter - simple, but it fit the song so perfectly. Rammstein - Sonne, Mutter as well. Fatboy Slim - Right here Right Now. Moby - Why does my heart feels so bad ( the little guy and his dog are so heartwarming....boo hoohoohoo).
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 I completely forgot about the Rammstein videos. Damn those things are pieces of art... German industrial metal + Quentin Tarantino = Rammstein videos
Guest crandamaniac Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 I dunno, for some reason I've always liked Genesis's video for "Land of Confusion"
Guest Kingpk Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Beat It - MJ Thriller - MJ The one Fatboy Slim video with Christopher Walken dancing around a hotel lobby. About 99.99% of Weird Al's videos.
Guest KoR Fungus Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 I say Jeremy also. I also liked the videos for Stan and Freak on a Leash. Stan just does a really good job of showing the images that the song is describing, and Freak on a Leash has great special effects and is just a lot of fun to watch.
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 Use Your Illusion, Axl is looking at me in that picture like I am a little boy and he's trying to get me to get into his van so we can have some sort of encounter of the illegal kind. Riiiiight...are you sure your not just seeing things you secretly WANT to see? I so need to change this thing anyway... Illusion - Likes girls...really
