Roddy Piper on JB&B

Rowdy Roddy Piper was on John Boy and Billy Big Show today plugging his new book, and he had some very interesting comments regarding wrestling as we know it today.

On Wrestling today: He said that the art of wrestling as we know it is dead. Said in the old days, when say him and Ric Flair would wrestle, the promoter would give him the ending, and him and Flair would come up with they're own match. Now everything is scripted and there's no art to it.

On Vince McMahon: Said Vince McMahon was a scum-bag. Couldn't understand why he runs some of the stories he does (Necrophilia, Kiss My Ass, etc.). Talked about how he would take a kid, promise him all these big things, then have him have his face shoved in Rikishi's ass, because they still had big things for him.

On Vince Russo: "Russo is a Jerkoff". Talked about Russo handing him a script backstage that read something to the effect of "Get in ring, Ref gives you instructions, the bell rings...." and Piper ripped it up, threw it back at him and yelled a few things at Russo. Wishes Russo would have called him out like he did Hogan, because in his own words "The Ring is the only place where I can kill you, and get away with it." Said Russo just kills promotions with his crappy writing.

On NWA:TNA: Said that he respects what they're doing, that Jarrett was a smart man, had a lot of good young guys, but to be better they needed to fire Russo.

On his Future: Said he was willing to support any company that would help wrestling return to it's roots (mentioned NWA:TNA here). Also talked about a healing center he's helping to open in New York for wrestlers with injuries.

All and all it was a pretty interesting interview

He wasn't that clear in his interview, he kept drowning on and on and on. They asked him about the WWE today, and he told them about the start of Wrestlemania, the start of Starcade, went on about McMahon and Russo, and then finally got to his point. He was really hard to hear also

I agree with pretty much everything he said there. Remember that Piper is old school and probably hates to see the business he lived turned to shit.

Piper sounds like a bitter old man to me.

I don't understand what's wrong with most people these days. Everytime someone who is retired has something negative to say about the business, your excuse is that they're bitter. So if living it, thereby understanding it, and than justly criticizing it makes him bitter, than what does that make a large amount of posters on the board? Many of whom like to bitch about ANYTHING, and than not back it up with fact. If you're going to criticize someone else for validly backing up their opinion, and having some insight due to their past accomplishments, than go ahead and be an ignorant fuck. Like for real, don't talk through your ass, because it all sounds like shit to me.
