Basically, i want one for the road..would be nice to have a DVD-ROM so it could play my DVDs and VCDs..want to play games on it too, as well as my concert .mpeg files and mp3s. A modem would be nice as well, since i don't think i could network my laptop to my cable connection when at home. Any help and advice is appreciated.

I would buy this laptop ASAP you'd just plug the cord going from the back of your current cable modem into the laptop's port as opposed to your computer's port (I'm assuming your cable modem is external)

I was looking to get a laptop for college, but after seeing the prices you guys pay in comparison to proces over here, it got me wondering about importing. If i could get someone to deliver it, how compatible would it be over here? Would I be able to use it, plug it in to charge up and buy/use the bateries over here? Would UK software run on it? thanks for any help. ChUnK!
Guest Eagan469 Posted November 28, 2002 Report Posted November 28, 2002 If you imported a laptop, the only problem I can think of is that if it had a DVD-ROM it would only be able to play Region 1 (US and Canada) DVD movies on it, although there are many free programs out there that can defeat the region-lock and allow you to play PAL (European) DVD's. You might also have to pay duty on it, but I don't know the current international rates.
Guest DrTom Posted November 29, 2002 Report Posted November 29, 2002 I think you'd have to buy some kind of power adapter, too, since the UK uses different voltages in their outlets than the US. It's also possible you could order a laptop with US standards, since you'll be going there anyway.
