An Idea...

Recommended Posts

Guest Chuck Woolery

Okay, so in chat I brought up an idea... what if one of the JL belt holders (I said European in chat, but it could really be interchangable, Euro or World) got a shot automatically at the US title at the next PPV? The stips being that if the JL guy won, then he was bumped, vacating his JL belt and taking posession of the US title. If the WF guy won, the JLer would stay in the JL to develop more.

Just a random thought being thrown out there. Comment, or bring up your own, or something.

There is only one problem with that. Say its the JL World Champ...

Now lets say he is ready to be bumped to the WF, he has it all. But then the US Champ actually beats him by just being a little more experienced. Now the guy who should rightfully be bumped is sent packing back to the JL because he lost his first match against the WF US Champion.

I don't think the shot would be given to the World champ, just because they're probably being bumped soon enough as it is. I think the idea has potential -- but the shot shouldn't be automatic. Maybe if said JLer held the belt for a month, they get a US shot at the next WF PPV. That would gear the title more towards people who establish themselves with a belt and elevate its standing -- I'm thinking of people like Frost here, and maybe K-Os; I'm not sure hold long he held the belt. If some sort of timeframe was implemented and the kinks were ironed out by CC, I suppose it could be an interesting idea.

What about people feuding over the US Title? I mean, Tod and Annie had a long feud over it that included a PPV match.

Of course, people could adjust, but I think it would lower the legitimacy and credibility of that belt.

Eh, I think the belt could survive it, to be honest. I'd be more concerned (though not very much) with the first poor bastard to lose to a JLer. Even if it's another Thugg or something....ow, dude.

I held the euro for 41 days and was very happy with it.

I'm of the mind that the cream always rises to the top and if you're ready, you will be bumped. Let's say the US title holder has to no-show or the JL guy just gets that one in a blue moon win. If he's not ready no one will want to work with him and he'll be the ultimate jobber. Getting bumped is no big deal, you can be happy and productive in the JL.

Exactly.

I spent 15 months as a MLer and JLer, and I impressed a lot of people down there before I was even bumped.

It's not a curse being down there in the JL for a long amount of time. If I can say one thing to the JLers, it's don't try and force yourself to the top if you don't have the time to put a good-sized amount of work into your JL matches. I've seen a lot of good writers get burned out or not have the time and have to take time off in order to sort stuff out.

Each and everyone of you could beat anyone at anytime. You've all got the talent. You just gotta keep working at it and you'll eventually accomplish what you set out to do. :)
