Guest Serrated Report post Posted November 29, 2002 Alone inside the darkened locker room in Austin, Texas, the wrestler known as Sigil quietly meditates to pass the hours before his match later that night against Ash Ketchum. He sits, eyes closed and cross legged on the floor, breathing deeply. "Master Sigil?" a voice calls out behind him. A second figure steps into the small chamber, wearing a hooded cloak very similar in style to Sigil's, though he keeps the hood pulled down over his head, covering his face entirely. "There's someone here to--" "I haven't given you permission to speak yet, First," interrupts Sigil, speaking through his faceplate, without even bothering to turn around. "I'm... sorry, Master," the First replies, and remains where he is, standing and silent, as Sigil completes his breathing exercises. Sigil takes in a few more breaths before completion, but just to spite his assistant, he hesitates a few more seconds before turning around and addressing the First. "Very well, First. Divulge me." "Master Sigil, there's someone waiting outside to see you. He says his name is Tom Flesher." Sigil raises an eyebrow in a minor hint ot surprise. "Indeed? Then I suppose we shouldn't keep Mr. Flesher waiting. Send him in, First." The First bows his head reverently, then quickly vacates the premises. A few moments later, the "Superior One," Tom Flesher, enters the room, glancing about his surroundings in puzzlement, possibly confused by the heavy darkness. Sigil rises to his feet to face the Magnificent Seven leader. "Ah, Mr. Flesher. I suppose you're here to wreak vengeance upon me for what I did to your Ms. Eclectic last week? Or some other such nonsense?" "Not at all, actually," Flesher answers. "In fact, it may interest you to know that Annie Eclectic is no longer a member of the Magnificent Seven roster." "Really," comments Sigil, furrowing his brow. "In that case, why have you requested an audience with the Voice?" "Well, Sigil, I'm going to level with you. What I saw during your match against Annie and Ash Ketchum was impressive to say the least. You're just the kind of talent I need in M7. So I came to offer you a deal. If you take care of Ash tonight in your no-disqualification match -- and I mean "take care" of him like you took care of Annie last week -- you can take Annie's place as an active member of the Magnificent Seven." "Ash?" questions Sigil. "I would think you'd rather have me take care of this Orochi fellow you seem to have a problem with." Flesher's eyes narrow at that, and he shoots an accusatory glance at Sigil. "What do you know about Yuuichiro?" Sigil suppresses a chuckle. "Besides the fact that his little Clan went up in smoke recently, and that his current in-ring incarnation is a blatantly obvious attempt to rip off my own particular style... nothing of consequence." "Look, I can take care of Orochi myself," Flesher snaps. "I want you to handle Ash. The way I see it, if you beat Ash, you get another shot at Annie, and that's just fine by me." "Very well then," Sigil concedes. "Consider it done." Then Sigil holds up a gloved hand, palm up, to warn Flesher of an additional stipulation. "This will require a sacrifice, of course." Flesher nods. "Oh, yeah, don't you worry about a thing. We'll handle all the monetary aspects of it once everything's all official, but you can be sure you'll be sitting pretty." Flesher extends his right hand as a gesture of respect. "So it's settled then?" Sigil nods slowly, then lowers his gloved hand, grasping Flesher's in his and delivering a firm handshake. Then without saying another word, he steps away from Flesher, returning to his spot on the floor as Flesher exits the room. A moment later, the First returns, this time careful not to speak out of place. After a long moment, Sigil addresses him. "I trust you heard what was said?" "Yes, Master Sigil," the First affirms. "but I don't understand one thing. Who is this 'Orochi?'" "A pretender to the throne," Sigil answers. "A man so convinced that he is on the right path that he is blind to the sad truth of his ways, and the gross inaccuracy of his credo. You see, what Mr. Orochi does not yet realize -- though he will be convinced in time, as will all others -- is that it is not the bringing of the light that holds his salvation." Sigil breathes in and out once, hesitating a moment before deciding to bestow his insight upon the acolyte. "It is the bringing of the dawn..."
