Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted November 30, 2002 I finally have a free weekend at school, my finals ended early and my girl dumped me, so I figured I'd make myself feel better with some live ROH action! Jim Quinlan raised his prices though for the ROH marathon bus tour, so how does this card stack up before I shell out the dough? AJ Styles vs. Xavier- ROH Title -AJ's my favorite indy wrestler, and this'll probably be a title change and a markout moment, but I have yet to actually witness Xavier having a good match. American Dragon vs. Chad Collyer -Never seen Collyer, but I have been impressed with AmDrag's work. On a side note, is there a worse wrestling name than "Chad Collyer"? Paul London vs. EZ Money -London became my hero after the 9/21 show, and Money always delivers, so this should be a really great match. Jeremy Lopez vs. Michael Shane -Not impressed with Lopez. Shane's really good, but this match seems really "blah" to me. Abdullah the Butcher and Homicide vs. Carnage Crew -Blood match. I can take it or leave it. CM Punk vs. Colt Cabana -I've seen one Punk match- his one-shot in TNA. Never seen Cabana. What do you think of these guys. I think Punk is working face and Cabana heel in ROH. Winner of London/Money and Dragon/Collyer- #1 Contender's Trophy -Depends on how the pairings work out. Da Hit Squad vs. Jay Briscoe and Red vs. SAT vs. Special K - 4Way Tag Scramble, #1 Tag Team Contender's Match -This should be a ton of fun. Any thoughts/help on the lineup? Guest Phoenix Fury Legdrop Report post Posted November 30, 2002 I've watched CM wrestle four times in one night in the SS16 2002 tourney, and Colt 3 times, and I must say, they're damn good. CM, however, should always, ALWAYS work heel. That's his thing, he's better at it than a lot of guys going these days. Colt is a pretty good heel, too, and I love the Colt 45 (double-underhook version of Albert's most recent backbreaker finisher, but Colt makes it look cool). Colt also has the funniest entrance music in indy wrestling other than Nate Webb (no one can beat Homer Simpson's variation of the Gilligan's Island theme song interluding into Wheatus's "Teenage Dirtbag"): "Copa Cabana" by Barry Manilow. Oh, and you want to know a worse wrestling name than Chad Collyer? How about Metal Master, his name in Michinoku Pro?
Chunk 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2002 I would go just to see the main event and that huge tag battle. I like a.dragon, but i must admit that that card doesnt really stand out and grab me. If you get what i mean. ChUnK!
Chunk 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2002 Is Chad Collyer a student of Dean Malenko? I'm pretty sure he is, but if so, where did the training take place? ChUnK!
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted December 1, 2002 i think yna can back me up on this but cabana and punk supposedly can tear it up. i ALWAYS look forward to am. dragon matches. seeing him go twice in one night is a plus. the tag scramble will prolly be a typical ROH spotfest. i'm almost positive i will pick up this show when it is released. Guest ChaosTheory Report post Posted December 3, 2002 Xavier vs. AJ Styles should be pretty good. Dragon vs. Collyer will be a good mat match as Collyer is a solid mat technician from what I hear. London vs. Money will be a tremendous "show" match-where each guy will demonstrate their great offensive skills. London vs. Dragon-as it hopefully will be should deliver. Punk vs. Cabana might just steal the show. That's 5 solid potential match-ups by my count. Also, this will be the first show that both Low-Ki & Daniels are not on so it is time for someone to step up and steal the show. Who will step up to the plate. My guess is Punk & Cabana! And yes Chad Collyer was trained by Dean Malenko. Here is part of an interview over at rohwrestling.com: "I wrestled amateur style for 11 years in high school and college, then coached for two years after that. I wrestled for Manchester College at 150 and 158 pound weight classes. While there, I was NCAA West Regional Champion in 1995 and qualified for the NCAA National tournament twice. After my senior year of wrestling in college, I decided to head down to Tampa, Florida to train at Malenko's Pro Wrestling School to become a pro wrestler. I trained at Malenko's from August 1997- December 1997. During those five months I was trained by Dean Malenko. When Dean was away doing house shows or Nitro/Thunder for WCW we were trained by Jeff Bradley, who was the former Dudley Dudley in ECW. I was lucky enough to get trained by Dean about 80% of the time I was down there."
Guest Last Warrior Report post Posted December 5, 2002 This seems to be one of their waeker cards to date although I suppose you have to expect that when they are without, Low Ki, Daniels, Williams, Spanky, Maritato, Fleisch, Storm etc
Guest Gathering Moss Report post Posted December 7, 2002 Even with the lack of Daniels and Low Ki the card still looks really solid. You also have to take into account the fact that tickets are only 10 dollars.
