Matt Hardy was supposed to take out Rey

Recommended Posts

Well here is an interesting twist to this thread. Wade Keller just sent out his News & Views e-mail to Torch subscribers that said that Vince basically gave Albert the spot over Matt Hardy for the Rey Injury Angle as he wated to build Albert up as a challengable opponent for the Undertaker when he returns.

That is, the point of all this was to make Albert look to have the chance of beating The Undertaker when The Undertaker comes back soon.

Well, on one hand, I am excited that my man will be getting more tv time and face another big man. Yet on the other hand, Albert's new push is so not being handled or constructed correctly. You can't just take someone who's been languishing on the B shows and who the company has not cared two shits about for months and push him to near main event then expect the fans to care. It just doesn't work that way.

But I suspect Taker wants to work with Albert anyway. So maybe he had something to do with this.

UT/Alber... hahaha... no Vince.... this wont be the Nash/UT WM match you probably want to recreate... the WWEs downfall keeps getting funnier... even to those who dont watch

Does absolutely no one remember the previous Albert push? That was pretty laden with UT/Albert matches and they were all terrible, and the entire push was a waste of time.

Albert v Undertaker....feel the buyrate! And the pain...

Keller also went on to say that the wrestlers knew what McMahon was doing and they were very upset that he was once again trying to justify Undertaker having a main event slot at the expense of building up new stars. Especially after his last title run in the summer showed no evidence that he was any kind of draw.

And if Albert is being set-up as an opponent for Undertaker, then that would mean Edge is doing the job at Armageddon.

Unreal. They spend all this time building up a guy as the next main eventer and then they are going to sacrifice him to some fat jobber so Undertaker can have some big guy to squash when he returns.

Let's review how this all shakes out:

Undertaker - gets new HOSS to squash to remind everyone who's yard it is

Albert - gets big win and high profile feud despite being out of shape and having no potential to be a big star

Edge - gets shuffled to the side for Taker despite growing popularity as upper-mid card face

Rey - injury angle is used to set-up storyline for Taker and not anything that will build up any storylines for him upon his return

Matt Hardy - gets shafted to Velocity despite improving his mic skills and getting his character over

How is this any different from RAW?

You don't know how pissed I will be if Edge loses. It would be a little different if Albert was being portrayed at Edge's level for, I don't know, MORE THAN A WEEK. At least I would understand. But Albert went from velocity to upper-mid card and if he wins, main event because god knows Taker is always in the main event.

In the long run, this is going to hurt Albert. Nothing good can come out of this.

It's almost as if creative is going out of their way to fuck with the moral of the top workers on Smackdown - first they bring in the Undertaker to shore up the top of the card, then the Big Show and now it looks like they may well sacrifice one of the six to Albert...really, I wouldn't blame the SD guys if they just didn't bother any more.

If Albert beats Edge, and somehow is now "ME level" it will be the saddest thing ever.

I mean, talk about unknown promo skills. When's the last time Albert cut a promo? years ago? Actually Bautista has this same problem. It just sickens me how so many WWE "rules" are broken if you're big enough. Sure you can bitch about RVD's speaking if you feel you're justified, but then you CAN'T defend Bautista simply because the HOSS AIN'T SAID SHIT.

Albert has been cutting some pretty good promos on Velocity over the last few months.

Exactly. Even Albert doesn't deserve some half assed push just to sacrifice him to Taker a few months from now. That's not how you build new stars.

And as much as I love Albert, I think jobbing Edge, a guy who is popular and has been groomed as a ME'er, to someone who's been languishing on Velocity all year is retarded and stupid.

I think pushing a guy who fans have never reacted to is stupid, especially if it's the same push that was attempted, and failed, previously.

I still can't believe they didn't just turn Edge and Rey, getting rid of a stale tag team and freshening up a stale character. Edge and Rey's ulta-short tag reign, as well as Edge's failure to win the world strap from show could easilly be given as reasons for it, and Rey could have come back with tons of sympathy on his side.

Instead we get the ultra hot Edge/Albert feud for God knows how long. Hopefuly this doesn't go beyond RR next year.

Yeah, even buffy and I have found some common grounds on this.

I'm sure Albert's a nice guy and all, and even hosses need to make a living, but he's done nothing to deserve it and hasn't gotten over. Worse than that, he hasn't been even built up. This was a knee-jerk decision by the senile patriarch of the McMahon empire.

In a few years, I could see Albert as a viable contender if he either gets into better shape and improves his workrate. Plus, you know...develops an actual CHARACTER. He's just a guy named Albert. Who is very hairy and has a bunch of piercings.

Even if he isn't as good as Vader, there is the possibility of good power wrestlers putting on good, enjoyable matches.

However, this does nothing for anyone. And proves once again that hard work in the WWE is moot if you're little. And if you aren't little, you're virtually guaranteed a token push.
