seriously, i still don't really know why edge even uses it as a finisher at all, i mean of all the moves you could give a guy of his look and size it hardly springs to mind. Why oh why does it ALWAYS get the pin? at least with benoit and angle it's 50/50 whether they get the job done or not. It's just to show off his hair. I'm not the biggest edge hater, but an implant ddt is a tad more plausible as a finisher. I know this is old news but i needed a mini-rant. [/mini-rant]

Yeah...certain moves should be left to certain guys. When Rhyno does it it looks like he's gonna kill someone. I don't mind seeing Edge do it...but it should not be a high impact move for him, let alone a finish.

I hate that too. It's Rhyno's move and Edge has no place doing. I'm hoping that when Rhyno is ready to return he'll do so by going to Smackdown and KILLING Edge with a spear of his own.

I mean, he can use it, just not as a finisher, and not 13 times a night. make it a transition move that he uses every once in a while.

I think they wanted to instill an Austin/Stunner-esque feeling to the Spear. Like it can happen anytime anywhere.

 

I don't mind it as much as Angle's anklelock. I really hate how he does it.

They don't need to give him a new move for a finisher. Edge already has some good DDTs that would make for a good finisher.

 

Edge's spear even looks shitty. Rhyno makes it look like it actually hurts. Edge's just looks like a weak take down.

I love Edge, but I don't like him using the spear as a finsher. I think it would be a great takedown (equivilent to the "main-event spinebuster), but its not a plausable finisher. I predict he will stop using it as a finisher after Rhyno comes back though.

I don't care for the spear either. Mostly because it's just Edge taking his opponent down with his arm. Like it's been said, he can use it, but he's just not the right build to use it as a finisher. Come to think of it, I don't buy his other 'finishers' as well.

 

Almost as bad as Jericho in that department. Except Edge actually wins matches.

Even if he worked the midsection.....the spear would still come off as just more midsection work. He doesn't have the size to make it believable though.

 

Rhyno works the midsection the whole match with the bodyscissors and the flying splash so that coupled with his size makes the Gore believable.

Rhyno's doesn't look better because of his size, he just hits it better and gives the illusion of it having a big impact.

 

If Edge hit it like Rhyno does his would look legit too.

A spot that always bothers me is from the Edge/Rhyno KOTR 2001 semi-final match. Both men spear each other at the same time and are down for a significant amount of time, until which both men got up at the same time. It's obvious that Rhyno has the better spear, yet Edge's spear was put over as being just as devastating. That's always bothered me.

No, Rhyno's size is the main difference between the spears. While I agree Rhyno's is better, his size adds to the illusion, because the guy, albeit short, is just HUGE in overall body size. Just a big dude. Edge's also looks weak because, more often than not, it looks like he dives PAST them, and just hooks out an arm last minute.

Another Edge-peeve, that Half Nelson Bulldog he does. What the fuck is that thing? Does it even look slightly possible? I know this is professional wrestling, but surely at least a little bit of physics should be employed. It's just another one of those awkward variations on an established move that looks plain weird. And while I'm at it, I have to question why Edge used a missile dropkick twice in Thursday's match for near falls against Angle. I'm supposed to believe this move can end the match because...? He's never finished anyone with it, in fact, I can't recall a match in recent years where anybody has lost to a missile dropkick. Just something that bothered me about the Thursday's match. What is so wrong with the Downward Spiral? Kanyon gave it up, so why can't Edge use it again? [/end rant]

You're forgetting that the missile dropkicks in question occured after a string of established finishers on both occasions. Of course I would have no problem if this occured in the beginning of a match, but to do it right after someone kicks out of an Angle Slam or Flying Headbutt is inconsistent with the flow of the match.

i actually don't mind transition moves being bought as near falls in a string of finishers, the crowcd usually goes for it. And surely a missile dropkick (or whatever) AFTER a finisher is more likely to get the pin than it was before?

....Booker T finished people with a Missile dropkick. He's done it fairly recently too, just don't remember to who.

Edge all ready has a few finishers too. He has the Edge-ucution and the Edge-O-Matic, and has also used the Downward Spiral in the past too. He doesn't need the spear.
