Guest Banky Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 And Banky. Yeah I watch to be entertained. But when I see some spoiled rich kid doing shitty spots and raising a crowds expectations to the point that nobody else can deliver and then he can go home and rest for a month I do not get entertained. I get pissed. Whatever, your stubborness is what makes you angry. If Shane wants to bust his ass for my viewing pleasure, I'll be more than happy to enjoy it.
The Dames Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Fuck Shane, Fuck him for trying to entertain the fans. Him and his wild bumps, it entertained me but I could not bring myself to like it because it scooped his opponants heat. How dare he do that? You are all ridiculous. The guy doesn't go in their with pre-conceived notions of trying to out-wrestle Angle or X-Pac, rather his main faocus is to make the match entertaining. And he has done it every single time. Maybe some of you should re-evaluate why you watch wrestling, and save the backstage drama for your motherfuckin' mama. You will NEVER hear anyone breathe a bad word about him anyway, so why are any of you complaining about him being a McMahon? Give me a break. Sometimes I wonder if you some of truly DO take all of this far too seriously. To answer the question, I'd gladly take Shane to entertain in front of the camera and take charge behind it as well. Considering that's obviously directed to me and what I said about Shane's match with Angle, you're not getting my point. I really did enjoy that match, I thought it was ****1/4 as a matter of fact and was one of the better matches of 2001. I'm not saying that I didn't like it....I'm just saying that it made things look less credible when a non-wrestler is able to take down a legitimate Olympic Gold Medalist. My other point is that while the match was great (and one of the only reasons I ever pop in my KOTR 2001 DVD), no one really benefitted from that match. Hell, I'll give the guy CREDIT even for being able to get Test over at SummerSlam '99 when no one else could (although they dropped the ball with him). Dames
Guest RickyChosyu Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Oh man, I didn't care for that match. I mean, I really didn't care for that match. If I want to see garbage, there are far better outlets for it than Angle and Shane Mchmahon, who you'd be hard pressed to convince me is even a wrestler. Shane as character was only tollerable in small spurts. Phrases like "Vinnie Mac! Vinnie Mac!" and "Witch Way Did He Go?" can only be used so many times before they're simply annoying, and Shane crossed that line many a time. I always had the urge to slap him back to whatever cushy desk job he was working before he decided that he wanted to be on TV all the time. Like I said, he proves that he at least has half a brain by removing himself from the the current trainwreck that is his father's company.
Guest bcu1979 Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 I'd rather see Shane in charge of the WWE and NO McMahons on the actual WWE tv programs. But Shane is the lesser of the 3 evils. Nothing Stephanie does can ever make up for that ridiculous Lucy the dog angle and her attempts at completely demasculating Jericho before the biggest match of his career. All done just so she can play the big star in the WrestleMania main event. I wouldn't miss her if she never showed up on tv again. Vince is probably the best performer of the three, but the man is almost 60 years old. His time as a weekly tv character is over. We've seen Vince the evil owner fighting the top star and Vince the babyface owner playing the underdog more times than anyone cares to count. I just can't see anyway Vince can become a "cool" character again. If we must have a McMahon figurehead, then Shane, with some tweaking to his character, is the strongest choice.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Shane is in charge of digital media, I believe. Shane is a glorified backyarder- he 'pretends' to be a wrestler.
Guest RickyChosyu Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Yeah, but here's where the "lesser of two evils" part makes that decision a bad one. Wouldn't it just be easier to keep them all off of TV and save everyone the trouble of watching ANY crap, as opposed to picking amongst the crap to decide which one smells less repulsive?
Guest bob_barron Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Most glorfied backyarders haven't had MOTN on Big 5 PPVs
Guest midnight_burn Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 All the McMahon's should stay the hell away from TV. Steph could stay if she was naked all the time though.
Guest RickyChosyu Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Most glorfied backyarders haven't had MOTN on Big 5 PPVs Oh, I'd love to hear the explanation there. On the other hand, if you're talking about the glass match rubbish from last year, don't bother. I've already addressed my thoughts on that "****1/4 match" and I've heard enough people praise it for one lifetime.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Summerslam 99- I think he had MOTN v. Test in the terrific Love her or Leave her match. I haven't seen KOTR2001 in a while but I remember giving ****1/2. I liked how Shane kept having to find more ways to try to beat Angle.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 What does Shane do that isn't common for a Backyarder to do?
Guest bob_barron Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Well he's over for one and he's had good matches.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 What does Shane do that isn't common for a Backyarder to do? All he wrestles in is 'street fights' and hardcore matches - so he doesn't have to actually wrestle for a sustained period of time. He hits random, incredibly contrived spots with very little transitions between them. Shit, the only difference between him and an actual backyard wrestler is the fact that he wrestles in an actual ring under a roof and doesn't use a trampoline.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 He wrestled Angle in a straight up match that wasn't too bad and he can generally keep my interest in a match which is all I ask for
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 I would like to know when these "good" Shane McMahon matches were.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Wrestlemania XV v. X-Pac Summerslam 99 v. Test Summerslam 2000 v. Blackman Wrestlemania X-7 v. Vince King of the Ring 2001 v. Angle I also enjoyed the streetfight with Rock and the no-DQ match v. Show.
Guest RickyChosyu Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Alrighty, let's take a look at the SS '99 card to see what that 'Match of the Nights' was up against: Jeff Jarrett vs. D-Lo Brown King of the Hill Tag Team Match Al Snow vs. Big Bossman Ivory vs. Tori Ken Shamrock vs. Steve Blackman (lion's den match) Test vs. Shane McMahon The Undertaker & Big Show vs. Kane & X-Pac The Rock vs. Billy Gunn (kiss my ass match) Mankind vs. Steve Austin vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley Not exactly a riveting card, as it would seem. Aside from the main (which was pretty much a heat up angle for Trips with Jessy Ventura doing refferee) there's very little to convince me that "Match of the Night" for Summerslam '99 is really a complement worth giving. As for the Test/Shane match itself, it was essentially one bump from Shane with the usal WWF Time-Wasting Brawl to fill up the rest. Punches that don't connect, the "I grab your hair and we walk" spot, everything. As for Angle/Shane, if I wanted to watch garbage wreslting, there are far better matches, and I have no patience for pointless voilence in matches for the novelty alone.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 When I watch a match I don't really look to see if the punches are hitting or anything- the match was a fun entertaining emtonial roller coaster that had me watching two years later rooting for Test
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 These matches were good? They were all Shane bumping. I'm sorry but there's people that could've wrestled in those matches that could've bumped 10x better. I will never believe that Shane McMahon is anywhere near being a good wrestler. He's a bump machine and that's it.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Fine- When I see Shane O'Mac is on the card I know I'm gonna get a good entertaning match which is all I ask for
Guest RickyChosyu Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 No offense, I've seen more emotion in an episode of Baywatch. "Vs. Blackman" Is this a joke?
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Fine- When I see Shane O'Mac is on the card I know I'm gonna get a good entertaning match which is all I ask for Don't make it sound like Shane has never ever had a non-"classic" match. For instance, I don't recall his Unforgiven 2001 match getting rave reviews, or the streetfight with Vince a month later.
Guest CanadianChris Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Wrestlemania XV v. X-Pac Summerslam 99 v. Test Summerslam 2000 v. Blackman Wrestlemania X-7 v. Vince King of the Ring 2001 v. Angle I also enjoyed the streetfight with Rock and the no-DQ match v. Show. I'll disagree on the Blackman match, which I didn't really enjoy, but the rest were very, very good. I just downloaded the KOTR match from KaZaa (I LOVE KaZaa!), and it still gets ****, easy.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 No it isn't. I thought it was one of the best Hardcore matches ever. Blackman beating the shit out of him was hilarious and I of course enjoyed the Shane Plunge and the Blackman elbow. The Wrestlemania match v. Vince had me marking out like crazy and every Shane PPV match I've managed to get really into and enjoy by the time it's over. (I haven't seen Unforgiven though)
Guest geniusMoment Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Vince from nov. 1997 to april 1999 was one of the best wrestling characters ever. Since then he has sucked, he should have left before the greater power angle. He is unquestionably the most over of the three but I feel his character has run its course. I feel that all three McMahons should be off television
Guest RickyChosyu Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Listen, Bob, I'm glad you get enjoyment out of Shane's work, but what is it, exactly, that makes him anymore than a glorified backyard wrestler? The mania match with Vince was an overbooked schmozz, as expected. The mania match with X-Pac was Shane getting chased around in between beating on X-Pac thanks to interferance. The match with Blackman was the definitive one-bump match. Blackman hit Shane with props, they did the big stunt, and that was it. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't caught dead associating ANY of that with "great." It's pedestrian crap that you find being used by guys who want to be a part of wrestling but have to get past the obstacle of not actually being wrestlers.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Ok yes let's take them all off TV. But I'm saying if you HAD to have one I'd take Vince. I'd rather have none. This is hypothetical.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 I wouldn't. Vince is a dead character. He has turned so many times that the fans are confused whether to love him because he owns the WWF or hate him because he is 'mr. mcmahon'.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Vince and Shane aren't that bad when they come back from long absences, but 2 weeks later we get the heel turn and I want them off my TV.
Guest papacita Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Vince from nov. 1997 to april 1999 was one of the best wrestling characters ever. Since then he has sucked, he should have left before the greater power angle. He is unquestionably the most over of the three but I feel his character has run its course. I feel that all three McMahons should be off television I agree with that. Vince shouldn't be on TV period. I like Shane's work when he gets in the ring, but I've never liked his character. Ever since the Corporate Ministry angle, everything involving Shane has come off kinda forced...even the feud with Angle (as good as the match was, the feud was pointless). I could tolerate face Steph in small doses, or possibly if Benoit was able to headbutt her at least once per show. My biggest problem with her is that she goes out of her way to make herself look strong (there's no reason on earth wrestlers should be flopping around to her weak ass slaps).
