The Dames 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2002 WTF was that!? An appropriate episode for a season that was pretty uneventful. None of the "major" storylines were moved forward as the hit to Carmine was called off, nothing really happened with Paulie and the Adrianna storyline will continue til next season. The divorce of the Sopranos did come as a big shock but it wasn't season finale worthy in my opinion. Dames
Guest fairtoflair7 Report post Posted December 9, 2002 All I have to say is that sucked. Nothing eventful happened. The divorce is not big b/c next season they will get back together. All in all, that sucked and they proabably did that on purpose to get everyone to watch next year. THis season was not to good compared to others.
Guest cartman Report post Posted December 9, 2002 it's what I like to call a "Filler" season...just to keep people watching, throwing a few good things in. Just to build up for their Grand Finale next year.
Guest fairtoflair7 Report post Posted December 9, 2002 Is next season going to be the last or not??? I heard that it may be unless the director changes his mind. I also heard the cast will refuse to work unless its the same director.
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted December 9, 2002 zzzzzzzzzz Good lord, is that what they had to wait a year and a half to produce? Not that it was bad it was just nothing. How can nobody die?
Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted December 9, 2002 I am also mildly disappointed.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted December 9, 2002 Ok, well they most eventful thing this season was Ralphie getting whacked. Why not save that gruesome scene for tonight? Secondly, why did Silvio/Paulie/Hud project just dissapear. See that was one of my main complaints about this season. Major plots/characters just dissapear for awhile so we can get 45 minutes of Tony and Carmela yelling at each other. Also, there was ZERO resolution to the stable burning down(unless that is dropped) and to who was visiting Paulie in prison(unless it is to be assumed that it was Johnny Sac) Not sure why the kids are so broken up about the divorce. I mean how could they not see it coming. The SUV killings, like mentioned was just a tease to get us pulled into thinking it was something more major. It wasn't bad by any means but this season finale was just uneventful and very bland. Seemed more like a season premiere than finale....
Guest RedJed Report post Posted December 10, 2002 I was thinking the same thing, this would have been a perfectly fine (and probably kickass) season premiere or even mid-season episode (which is probably should have been) but instead we got this as the last episode of the season. To say it dissapointed me is an understatement. Ok, so Carmela snapped finally, but that was inevitable and predictable. The interactions between her and Tony were strong dramatic tv at it's finest, but it just didn't seem right given the other storylines and how they should have been given more attention. Paulie had one scene, said maybe two lines. WTF?! And then they brought in the house/lawyer storyline out of nowhere, and I'm sure by next season we won't even hear anything of it other than maybe Tony getting his money back on the season premeire. Anything beyond that would be ridiculous since a war with this guy to get his deposit back just isn't interesting at all. The last scene of the show just bugged me since it was a completely drab way to end the season to say the least. Basically they are milking everything out slow, as had been the case all season long. But I didn't think they would do it like this and still have everything head into next season. I don't know if thats because there isn't many ideas left for the final season or if Chase did this just to defy the audience? Only thing we got some closure with was Juniors trial, which ironically was the only thing I DIDNT expect to be finished off this season. I'm really surprised how they hyped up this episode and the last 3 in fact as "who can you trust" when in fact there really wasn't anything regarding that for the most part. Tony had a small suspicion that Sac could be up to something snakey, but thats it. Talk about false advertising!!
Guest Mole Report post Posted December 10, 2002 So wait, I have a few questions because I didn't get to watch more then 6 eps because I don't get HBO at school. 1. Did anything happen with Chris and his heroin problem? 2. What happened with Junior's trial? And I heard before that this was one of the best seasons to date, so why is everyone just changing their mind about it? I believe that David Chase is just milking it for next season, just like other people said. I am sure since next season is going to be the last, there will be a full closure to it. Besides, the divorce angle was one of the main things that was being built up all season from what I watched, so, how is it bad? I guess I have to watch the eps to have a real opinion on it. Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted December 10, 2002 Molestomp: 1. Tony finally had it and had Christopher checked into a rehab program. He told him that if it were anyone else, they'd probably get killed. Seems to have set him straight. 2. Junior's trial went to mistrial becuase they, ah, convinced a juror to be stubborn. And yes, next season will be the last, as Gandolfini said he wouldn't stick around for a sixth.
