Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Ok I was just wondering. They have a matches to check out thread in the Puro folder. I've been watching that for a bit but now I'm interested in seeing some Lucha. But I don't know any matches to check out. I mean all kinds of wrestling from Mexico. From high-flying to umm...well I really don't know what goes on in Mexico! So help me! And I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering. So what good matches should we check out!?
Guest razazteca Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 well I am not good on dates but I tell you what I like about Lucha Libre. 1) Ciebernetico matches - this is a bizarre Survivor Series type of match Lucha Libre style, usually of teams of 8 or more. Great for Spotfest as wrestlers like Damian 666 will bust out the special rare moves in these. 2) Legend of the Silver Mask tournments - this seems to be an annual event in memory of the great luchadore SANTO. 3) Tag Team title matches featuring Guerrero de Inferino - MUST GET series vs Santo & Negro Casas and series vs Dr Wagner & Blue Panther & Fuerza Guerrera and the 69 anniversity show against Shocker & Vampiro. 4) Shocker vs Tarzan Boy title matches 5) Eddy Guerrero & Love Machine Art Barr matches - I see people shrilling this almost everywhere 6) Rey Misterio Jr vs Juventud in AAA 7) Hector Garza vs Heavy Metal vs Latin Lover vs Perro Agual Jr (I misspelled the last name) hair match. One of the watchable AAA matches. Guerra de Titanes PPV show. 8) AAA mini mascot matches - Mascarita Sagrada, La Parkita, Mini Psicosis, Mini Abismo Negro all rule. In general these matches are pure spotfest with these mexican midgets doing insane highspots and spin around armbar spots. By all cost stay away from Chucky and Cruile matches its most mix tag matches in bad comedies. 9) Ultimo Dragoncito vs Pierrothcito - when spotfest go bad......Dragoncito did an Asai Moonsault and landed on his face.
Guest Joe_G Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 El Hijo Del Santo/Octagon vs. Art Barr/Eddy Guerrero, Double Masks vs. Double Hair (When Worlds Collide, 11/6/94) Unbelievable storytelling, workrate, and heat in this match. Also features the best Frog Splash in history. You look at Art Barr and you have to wonder what could have been. 1) Felino/Black Warrior/Kevin Quinn/Silver King/El Satanico/Dr. Wagner Jr./Scorpio Jr/Hijo Del Santo vs. Mascara Magica/Shocker/El Dandy/Ultimo Dragon/Atlantis/Brazo de Oro/Negro Casas/La Fiera (5/10/97) One of the afore mentioned ciberneticos, and the best of the bunch. Actually, probably the best lucha match I've ever seen. There's about a 20 minute section where everyone just takes it to the mat and its amazing. Goes 40+ minutes and will have you hitting the rewind button repeatedly. El Hijo Del Santo/Bestia Salvaje/Scorpio Jr. vs. Negro Casas/El Dandy/Hector Garza El Hijo Del Santo/Bestia Salvaje/Scorpio Jr. vs. Negro Casas/El Dandy/Hector Garza El Hijo Del Santo vs. Negro Casas vs. El Dandy - Mask vs. Hair vs. Hair match El Hijo Del Santo vs. Negro Casas Mask vs. Hair (all are from '97, I think) The big matches from Santo's heel turn, which was just unthinkable. Made Hogan's heel turn look like one of Big Show's. Atlantis vs. Villano III, Mask vs. Mask 3/17/00 Only lucha match to win WON MOTY honors, with good reason. Maybe the most dramatic and emotional match I've ever seen.
Guest The Last Free Voice Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 any DL-able matches/ clips? I cant get Hotline to Download so I have to go other routes.
Guest razazteca Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 outside the possibility of MIRC Lucha on the net is hard to find.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 Is the rest of When World's Collide any good dude? It has: 1. Octagoncito + Mascrito Sagrada vs. Espectrito + Jerrito Estrada 2. Psychosis, Louie Spicolli + Fuerza Guerra vs. Latin Lover, Heavy Metal + Rey Mysterio Jr. 3. Tito Santana, Chris Benoit + 2 Cold Scorpio vs. LaParka, Blue Panther + Jerry Estrada 4. Octagon + El Hijo del Santo vs. Eddie Guerrero + Love Machine in a 2/3 Falls Match 5. Perro Aguayo vs. Konnan in a Cage Match The rest of those any good?
Guest Tim Cooke Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 Go get Guerreros de Inferinos v Vampiro/Shocker from 9/2/02. Un-edited, it is the best Lucha match of the year and a MOTYC for every promotion. Tim
Guest razazteca Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 are you saying that the gdi vs Shocker & Vampiro is better than the gdi vs Santo & Negro Casas champs tag title match earlier this year? wow
Guest ConspiracyVictim Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 are you saying that the gdi vs Shocker & Vampiro is better than the gdi vs Santo & Negro Casas champs tag title match earlier this year? Oh yeah it was...and in my opinion that last Santo and Negro tag champ match from this year was no were near the quality of last years match between the same team but thats just my opinion. Ok anyhow on to the questions... When Worlds Collide had a pretty solid card all around IMO. Nothing other than the Double Hair v. Double Mask match was great but everything else was from decent - good. The main event is boring at times but it is still watchable. Here are some matches you want to check out. I dont have all the dates but I can tell you where to find them if you want to know. Hijo Del Santo + Octogon + Jushin Thunder Liger + Tiger Mask vs. Eddie Guerrero + La Parka + Psicosis/Blue Panther Art Barr vs. Blue Panther from 1992 Negro Casas vs. H.D. Santo from WWA 1987 Santo vs. La Parka Cage Match from 2001 TJ ill come back with more but thats all I can think of right now
Guest RedJed Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 I really liked the When Worlds Collide ppv.........got it about 3 months ago finally after all these years. Better than any American wrestling ppv I've ever seen. Definately worth spending 10 bucks at a site of your choice to buy it. Best undercard EVER, thats for sure. The lack of excitement inside the ring in the main event wasn't affected due to the aftermath (Guererro and some fan were really getting into it, if I remember right) and general "big time" feel that match had. BTW, anyone know of any sites that put together good Lucha comps? I want to see some of these matches mentioned, but not sure where is the best place to find em.
Guest Tim Cooke Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 "are you saying that the gdi vs Shocker & Vampiro is better than the gdi vs Santo & Negro Casas champs tag title match earlier this year? wow" Yup, it is better. Best Lucha match I have seen since 3/16/96 Rey Jr v Juve in Tijuana. Then again, I haven't seen nearly enough of the EMLL PPV's. Tim
Guest BobBarnett Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 Last nights 2 main events-Vamp v Bucanero (hair) and U Guerrero beating Shocker for the Lt Hvy belt are right there also.
Guest razazteca Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 damn Rey Bucanero had good hair too! any chance of that getting on tv stateside? I need to cross the boarder to find some tapes
Guest ConspiracyVictim Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 Yeah I really need those matches...Rey is gonna look funny as hell without his hair though. Guerrero v. Shocker must have been one hell of a match
Guest Brian Posted December 21, 2002 Report Posted December 21, 2002 Yeah, that tag match (thanks Tim for the reccomendation) is the best match this year. Go to Bob for lucha, RedJed.
Guest razazteca Posted December 30, 2002 Report Posted December 30, 2002 The Ultimo Guerrero vs Shocker title match was AWESOME, talk about psycology in a match! UG won the 1st caida by working over the arm with Hammerlocks and Keylock wrist holds no matter what Shocker did he could never get out of the armbar, Shocker tried the Rocker flip which Marty and Owen did but UG never let go, then they goto the Knuckle lock-up which UG take advantage of and goes back to the arm work, eventually UG gets thrown to the ropes Shocker set up the Rock Bottom but as S hocker lifts UG counters with Fujiwara armbar for the submission. 2nd Caida is won by Shocker after 4 TEST kicks to the head and a Kane-style flying Lariat. 3rd Caida has Ultimo Guerrero work over the legs with drop toe holds, death locks and general ankle work. So as we go to the finish Shocker attempts his Spinning backbreaker move but due to all of the arm and ankle work by Ultimo Guerrero, it is a futile attempt as UG counters with the same move for the win. so for those Psycology marks: 1) arm work gets the 1st caida with Fujiwara Armbar 2) deathlocks and drop toe holds sets up leg damage which Shocker sells well 3) Shocker submits to his own move, which is a backbreaker which is held by arms and legs while spinning

razazteca Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Havana Brothers are spotfest goodness. Especially Ricky Romero's flying armbar from the top rope.
Guest Markingout Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 And Bobby Quance's sickass moves like a backflip into a ddt on the second rope performed flawlessly. Puma just busting out crazy shit left and right. CMLL's Havana Pitbulls(Reyes,Romero,Quance, and Puma) own. I dont have many matches too check out seeing as I am new too the Lucha scene. I thought Tarzan Boy vs Shocker was an AWESOME short match. Volador jr vs Romero for the Juniorweight title was awesome. I am not sure what show this was from, but this is sooo worth it just for the atmosphere. Cibernetico match- team Japan vs team Mexico. Plain awesome because of the awesome crowd and the awesome pairs in the ring. Like Ultimo Dragon and Shocker. Cima and Blue Panther. Too much Nosawa though. I fucking hate Nosawa. CMLL on Sundays he was shoved down our throats each week.
razazteca Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Want to talk about shoved down our thoats? Nosawa is a techincal god compared to Pierroth, Rayo de Jalisco, Gigante Silva.
Guest Markingout Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Want to talk about shoved down our thoats? Nosawa is a techincal god compared to Pierroth, Rayo de Jalisco, Gigante Silva. I agree about Pierroth and the Puerto Ricans, but Rayo, and Silva are barely seen. Nosawa is on every Sunday.
razazteca Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 It used to be Rayo vs Universo 2000 or one of the hosses in black or orange masks every week. Along with the weekly match of Pierroth vs Gran Markus or one of the Puerto Rican traders who have to loose either their hair or mask to Pierroth.
HarleyQuinn Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Some more pimpage courtesy of the DVDVR Crew(Figure it'll help out those few who want to track these down a great ton without having to wade through their 143 reports) CMLL(9/15/1997) - Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Mr. Niebla CMLL(8/2/1997) - Cadaver de Ultraumba/Espectro Jr./Guerrero de la Muerte vs Ultraman Jr./Astro Rey Jr./Solar I CMLL(12/6/1997) - Violencia vs Black Warrior CMLL(12/6/1997) - Apolo Dantes vs Blue Panther MPro(1998) - Atlantis/Lizmark/El Hijo Del Santo vs Pirata Morgan/El Satanico/Fisherman AAA(August/September 1996) - Silver King vs Miguel Perez Jr. EMLL(11/28/1998) - Black Warrior/Bestia Salvaje/Scorpio Jr. vs Felino/Negro Casas/El Hijo Del Santo EMLL(1/2/1999) - Rencor Latino/Dr. O'Borman/Archangel De La Muerte vs Oriental/Super Kendo/Angel Azteca EMLL(2/6/1999) - Blue Panther/Black Warrior/Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Atlantis/Felino/Emilio Charles Jr. EMLL(3/10/1998) - Black Warrior vs Shocker EMLL(11/1996) - Negro Casas & El Dandy & Hector Garza vs El Hijo Del Santo & Scorpio Jr. & Bestia Salvaje AAA(1/22/1996) - Psicosis & Juventud Guerrera vs El Volador & El Mexicano AAA(6/4/1995) - Psicosis vs El Hijo Del Santo AAA(12/25/1995) - Psicosis & Halloween vs Leon Negro & Ultraman 2000 EMLL(1/1999) - Mask vs Hair: El Hijo Del Santo vs Negro Casas EMLL Japan(2/2/1997) - Rayo De Jalisco Jr./Kendo vs Apolo Dantes & Felino EMLL(9/10/1999 aired 9/18/1999) - Tony Rivera/Mr. Aguila/Antifaz del Norte vs Zumbido/Violencia/Rey Bucanero
