What are the best finishers in the WWE?

I am a huge fan of the five star splash when done right and the stunner... if you'll count that.

I hear that it used to look much sicker though, where instead of dropping you on your face it looked like you were dropped on your head, crushing your neck and spine...

*sigh* Here we go again: HHH NEVER used that version. He was facing some jobber in 95 or something and his opponent sold it wrong. Instead of landing face first, he tried to sell it like a pildedriver. It looked sick, but wasn't scripted.

And I agree that the Pedigree is a great finisher.

Any frogsplash does the trick for me.

Tombstone Piledriver. It's not currently used, but I always loved it.

Pardon my ignorance.

Was the jobber severly injured?

3D: The Dudley Death Drop

The 3D will always be my favorite finisher. Ever since the first time that I saw it back in ECW. I like it a lot more when it's done normally. When the Dudleyz hit it through a table, it kindof takes away the neck breaker feeling to it, and turns it into a gut buster.

I'm a huge Dudleyz mark. Have been for about 4 years now. Sure wish they were heel again though.

I also like Sean O'Haire's "Cruel Intentions." It's a good power move.

I "mark" for Piledrivers & DDT's, so almost any finishing version of them is great.

I love the Dudley's new theme - Powerman 5000's "Bombshell". Much better than Saliva's. And it isn't a finisher, but I like the backdrop/neckbreaker combo they use too (sorta looks like a 3D except Bubba backdrops the guy instead of slinging him into the ropes first).

The Tombstone is a classic finisher...when I went to the live Smackdown Taker did it to Rock on a limo in the back...it wasn't on stage but on the Titantron, didn't matter cause I marked the fuck out.

If Edge ever goes back to using the Edge-e-cution as a finish I'd like that. The move looks great when both guys get the timing right, looks like the guy's head and spinal cord get compressed. One thing that bugs me about Edge...I wish he'd stop using that as a transition spot and use the Spear instead, then use the Edge-e-cution as the finish.

I always liked the Banzai Drop as a finisher too, especially when Yokozuna used to do it and everyone acted like they died from a fat man sitting on them.

Don't know. Probably not. The top of his head bounced off the canvas, but I doubt he was severly injured.

I saw a vid clip of that a while back and it was one of the most hellacious bumps I've ever seen. He wasn't seriously injured, I think his name is Cham Pain who auditioned for Tough Enough 1. He was also a member of the Dupps. I don't know if he was in ECW but he wrestled for Omega with the Hardy's.

The move looks a lot better when Mutoh does it.

It looks more real.

Does anyone remember the last time we did this thread and some guy kept saying how all good finishers have to be good in a fight. The best of the whole exchange was: "Who watches wrestling for self-defense tips? Do you see an F-5 and go 'Maaaan. I could take out my neighbor with that!"

If it's the jobber squash I'm thinking of, then it was Marty Garner who took the bump.

Anyways, favourite current WWE finishers:

F5. Let's face it, he managed to hit Big Fat Show with it. Fucking impressive.

Angle Slam 2K2. It's done more like a high angle Samoan Drop than the Angle Slam, but that's just being nit-picky. It still looks cool as hell.

Vertebreaker. Sick, sick, sick move. Don't know why anyone's willing to take it.

3-D. Still the best tag finisher out there.

Honourable mentions:

I'd have said the Stormkick as well, but we all know what happened to that, don't we? Nice to see the return of the "classic" Sharpshooter though.

Test Drive

Spinerooni. Why isn't that Booker's finisher anymore? :P

Speaking of which, I like the "Big Apple" finisher that Booker and Golddust took out of Harlem Heat's playbook.

In the current WW_ landscape, I'd say 3D. Both the set-up and execution get huge reacctions for the fans, and it's a pretty neat looking and convincing end to a match. Plus you can do it through a table.

The Molly Go Round. No one got out of it yet. It's so effective that entire matches are built around avoiding that move. It's the move that get the most pop for the Divas. Perhaps that's why its rarely done now that Molly is a heel.

Widow's Peak is very effective as well. The setup, though quite deliberate, reflects well Victoria's total contempt for her opponent.

Is that the lift-up/jumping kick that they've been doing? I don't remember them actually using it as a finisher.

That liontamer on Trish was awesome. Its really too bad most of the wrestlers are not flexible enough to do it.

I'm personally not a big fan of striking finishers, because, from what i've seen, they rarely look like something that should knock you out. At least with most non strikers, the contention can be made that it knocks the wind out of you or you smash your head or something. Not like the "Oh come, on, I could get up from that" Jungle Kick.

I think that if someone could pull off a Running Enziguri that it would be sweet...

Agreed. At least Hurricane's version is just used as a normal move and not a finisher.

Real? As in "old crappy wrestler has blown-out knees so he falls over doing it every time and makes it look crap?" Or maybe "previously mentioned crappy old wrestler is a lazy shit, so he makes up for the lack of substance in his matches by using said crappy move LOADS OF FUCKING TIMES during his matches to pop meaningless near falls?"

Mutoh is ghey. And shite. Fact.

Oh, and lazy or not (He is), Mutoh's is a lot nicer, and though it occassionally doesn't look stiff enough, is a fairly effective looking finisher. Fact.
