I cannot lose the title......

The camera fades in to reveal a small locker room, there’s a few piles of used towels scattered about, giving one the impression that it has been used by a great number of people very recently. However the wrestlers that dirtied the locker room are long gone, however one remains. Sitting alone on a bench, is none other than Danny Williams. He is slumped over, an ice pack on his neck, his face buried in his hands. A truly depressing image until everyone’s favorite reporter, Ben Hardy, steps in front of the camera. There is a faint humming of silence in the room, until Ben Hardy quietly speaks into his mic,”I am Ben Hardy, coming to you live with the Post-Smarkdown report. Sitting behind me, is the reining U.S. Champion, Danny Williams.”

Williams doesn’t acknowledge Hardy’s presence, lost in the memories of his defeat at the hands of the Franchise. He remains sitting with his head down. Hardy clears his throat, and cautiously attempts to start a conversation “So first off, I would like to start the interview by asking.......how you feeling champ?”

Williams raises his head, not even bothering to stand up for the interview, answering the question in a barely audible, soft, voice. “Not very good, Ben..............Not very good at all.”

“Sorry to hear to that, I heard you was unconscious for over a minutes?”, Ben more confidently asks.

Williams sighs before speaking at a more audible volume, “Yeah, the doctors said I would be fine though. It wasn’t nearly as bad as the Fisherman Buster that ELM gave me a few weeks back. To be honest, I don’t even remember that match to well.”

Hardy waits a few seconds to make sure Williams’ is done speaking, “If you can remember any of it.....” Hardy pauses and forces a nervous smile, before continuing “how would you evaluate your performance tonight?”

Williams sits up, and removes the ice pack from his neck,”Horrible........just horrible.” Sensing that Williams isn’t going to get up, Hardy sits down to make the interview look more natural. Williams shakes his head, the volume in his voice lowering once more, “It seems like every time I take a step forward, I take two steps back. There is no way I should have lost tonight, no way. I got out wrestled by a rookie, A FUCKING ROOKIE!"

Hardy jumps back, turning pale with fear. After the outburst, Williams cools back down, speaking in a much more calmer tone,”I mean, how am I supposed to carry this title with pride when I lost to somebody as inexperienced as Francis. Champions aren’t suppose to lose to unranked guys.”

“Well Francis did beat Orochi.”, intervenes Hardy.

Williams looks at Hardy like he’s the dumbest person alive,”At least Orochi can say it was because of a fluke roll up. But me, I got knocked out. I haven’t felt this frustrated since the back to back loses that caused me to leave the fed a while back.”

“Your not planning to leave again, are you?”innocently asks Hardy.

“Oh don’t worry about that, I an’t going nowhere. I need to get back on the right track, and a win against Annie will do just that.” proclaims Williams.

“So you feel confident in that you can defeat Annie, on Storm.” questions Hardy.

“Very confident, If I can beat her once, surely I can beat her again. She really doesn’t match up that well against me, at all. I can’t lose again, I can’t lose again, I can't......I can't lose my title, I have to win." insanely replies Williams.

Somewhat disturbed by Williams rambling, Hardy asks the next question with a lot of care “Let’s say that you defeat Annie on Strom, what lies in the future for the U.S. Champ? You know Frost did win the number one contender ship earlier tonight?”

“As much as I would like to step in the ring with Frost, I don’t think that would be a good idea to do it anytime soon. Just ask Tom”, answers Williams with rolling eyes.

“I see, so other than Frost, who would like to face in the ring, next?” inquires Hardy.

“Francis, Defiantly Francis. I would love to get that young punk in the ring, one more time. But in order to do that I have to beat Annie and keep my belt. I have to win, I can't lose the title” Williams pauses, shaken by his own words.

“Well I’m all out of time, so good luck with your upcoming match, and thank you for your time. I’m Ben Hardy signing off.” Hardy gets up, and walks out of the camera’s view. Williams remains seated on the bench, he whispers to himself, “I can't lose the title.”

And a fine promo it is. Danny is fucking freaking out, and it's great. I'm hooked, and now I desperately want a Mak/Danny rematch with the belt on the line.
