Guest blachuuh_monkey Report post Posted December 14, 2002 If you could see an North American worker from any time period vs any Japanese worker from any time period that you have never seen who would it be and why? I think I would like to see Kurt Angle vs Kenta Kobashi when healthy mainly because I think Angle is the best NA worker right now and Kobashi is my all-time favorite AJ heavy. I'm not sure how great it would be but I'd imagine it would be pretty good just because of the amount of talent each one has or had.
Guest gansobomber Report post Posted December 14, 2002 Eddie Gurrero vs. Koji kanemoto / Gedo (All pricks unite!!!!) Benoit or Angle vs. Nagata (The best go at it...)
Guest blachuuh_monkey Report post Posted December 14, 2002 I've seen Eddie vs Kanemoto before and it was pretty good but nowhere near the best Junior wrestling I've ever seen. Angle vs Nagata would be a very good match to see.
Guest wolverine Report post Posted December 14, 2002 I think Toshiaki Kawada vs. Shawn Michaels in 1995 would have been really entertaining for some reason.
Guest blachuuh_monkey Report post Posted December 14, 2002 Sure it woud be entertaining although I can't imagine it being very good. I would have marked out for it sick though because HBK is my all time favorite wrestler and 95 - 97 were my peak years of markdom.
Guest gansobomber Report post Posted December 14, 2002 One thing is for sure, HBK would get an actual reason for not defending his title after THAT match. Because Kawada is you know, stiff!
Guest blachuuh_monkey Report post Posted December 14, 2002 You are correct there.
Guest blachuuh_monkey Report post Posted December 14, 2002 I would love to see Kawada kick the shit out of HHH today.
Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted December 14, 2002 I'd like to see the following six man tags: Angle/Lesnar/Benoit vs. Nagata/Iizuka/Hase (The Hase from 1993) Kanemoto/Ohtani vs. Mysterio/Kidman (The 1996 Ohtani) Jun Akiyama vs. Ricky Steamboat (Akiyama from now, Steamboat from 1987-89) Cactus Jack vs. Kazunari Murakami (Cactus from 1992) Tenkoji vs. The Steiner Brothers Two mat classics, the ultra stiff vs. the high flying, a mad bumper vs. a crazy shooter, a the best team of the early 00's vs. The best team of the early 1990's
Guest TheyCallMeMark Report post Posted December 14, 2002 I think I could go for Booker T v. Kawada.
Guest wolverine Report post Posted December 14, 2002 There's no way in hell the Steiners were the 'best team of the early 90s.' I guess you could make a case for best gaijin team in Japan, but certainly not overall.
Guest blachuuh_monkey Report post Posted December 14, 2002 The Steiner Brothers might not of been the best tag team in the world in the early nineties but they were by far the best North American tag team of the time period in my opinion. Also, could someone plase explain to me who Kazunari Murakami and tenkoji are as I have never heard of them before.
Guest Tim Cooke Report post Posted December 14, 2002 1990 - Midnight Express were the BEST tag team in the US. 1992 - I would take the Combinations of the Dangerous Alliance over the Steiner Brothers a lot of the time. Tim
Guest blachuuh_monkey Report post Posted December 14, 2002 Those are both good choices. I am just more partial to the work of the Steiners myself. I would agree that the Midnight's were the best in 1990 but over the whole early part of the decade I would still have to say the Steiners. My opinion could change once I've seen more of that time period but for now it's the Steiners.
Guest ChaosTheory Report post Posted December 14, 2002 "Also, could someone plase explain to me who Kazunari Murakami and tenkoji are as I have never heard of them before. " TenKoji is the team of Tenzan & Kojima.
Guest blachuuh_monkey Report post Posted December 14, 2002 Thank you Chaos. I must really be missing something with those two because I've only seen them a couple of times each and thought they were horrible. Could you possibly recommend something by them to change my opinion. Come to think of it, I have never been big all the NJ Heavyweights but I've seen nothing from there early nineties work so I don't know.
Guest Ace309 Report post Posted December 14, 2002 I'd totally mark out for Angle vs. Nagata, if only because I'd really like to see them bust out the amateur-style matwork that they're both capable of.
Guest blachuuh_monkey Report post Posted December 14, 2002 I think that Tiger Mask I vs Rey Mysterio Jr. would be quite the enteraining highspot fest.
Guest RickyChosyu Report post Posted December 14, 2002 Murakami is one of Inoki's UFO guys. He can be engaging to watch because of his intensity and attitude, but as a wrestler he's just too limited to actually be considered a good worker (in my opinion, at least). As for Tenkoji, I'm not a huge fan of theirs, but if you look in a few of the websites in the pinned thread, I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for. Guest blachuuh_monkey Report post Posted December 14, 2002 Thanks Chosyu
Guest Tim Cooke Report post Posted December 14, 2002 Tenzan/Kojima v Barton/Steele (12/11/01) is the best I have seen from them. And it is a total carry job by TenKoji which adds to it. Tim
Guest ChaosTheory Report post Posted December 15, 2002 "Thank you Chaos. I must really be missing something with those two because I've only seen them a couple of times each and thought they were horrible. These two guys beat the crap out of each other. I haven't seen that much of Tenzan yet.
EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2002 Right now: I wanna see Chono/HHH, just to see who would hold down who...would Chono repay the job to HHH after 10/14? HAHAHA! I want an all-star 8-Man tag: From Mid 90's All Japan-Misawa/Kawada/Kobashi/Taue vs. From Mid 90's US-Bret Hart/Owen Hart/Chris Benoit/Shawn Michaels If I ever saw Kawada vs. Benoit I'd wet my pants. I STILL haven't seen Jushin Lyger go against Rey Mysterio. Both in their primes, of course. I want to see Eddie and KaShin go at it...just because I hate KaShin and Eddie can RUDO ALL OVER HIS ASS. Guest blachuuh_monkey Report post Posted December 15, 2002 I think a late 80's match between Jumbo Tsuruta and Barry Windham would be really good.
Guest Breetai Report post Posted December 18, 2002 Part of me would take a sick sense of satisfaction in watching Misawa TD'91 Austin. But seriously, Giant Baba v Andre.
Guest gansobomber Report post Posted December 18, 2002 what about Ric Flair (the 80's version) vs. Muto (almost current, before he started getting into "sports enteratinment")? BATTLE OF THE FIGURE FOURS!!!!!
Guest Special K Report post Posted December 20, 2002 I'd more want to see more junior stuff, though I'd love to see Benoit go back and mix it up with the heavyweights this time. Ohtani v. Guerrero. I believe this happened in the US but I've never seen it. I think it would be great. Rey Mysterio before injuries v Dragon kid. WOuld be fun to see Mysterio v someone actually smaller, and perhaps more agile than himself. I'd like to see CIMA and Shane Helms cut loose. Vertebreaker v Iconoclasm, 2 of my favorite moves. Since Vader hasn't been in the states for a while, let me just say, I'd love to see Angle v Vader. But something like Angle Kobashi would go awry since Angle hates being stiffed (remember when he murdered RVD for busting him open?) I would actually really like to see circa 2000 HHH vs Hase or Chono. Shawn Michaels v Jushin Liger, mid 90's for both. Any combination of American Dragon, Low Ki RM jr. , AJ Styles, Helms pre-hurricane v. Dragon Kid, Ohtani, CIMA, Tokyo Magnum, Sasuke, Ultimo, Liger... could yield a really fun match. Oh, and I'd like to see Benoit stiff Delfin to hell and back as well.
Guest gansobomber Report post Posted December 20, 2002 I'd like to see someone powerbomb Big Show...
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted December 20, 2002 It's happened, Nash actually pulled it off successfully on a couple of occasions. As for Japanese vs. American, I think modern-day Chono vs. modern-day Austin could be interesting.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted December 20, 2002 Ohtani v. Guerrero. I believe this happened in the US but I've never seen it. I think it would be great. This happened at WCW Starrcade 95, and it absolutely rocked.
