Guest Mr Monday Night Report post Posted December 18, 2002 This is just like the goddamned fucking retarded Hitman 2 nonsense that Sikhs caused an uproar over. Yeah, you kill some EVIL Sikhs. That's not to say that all sikhs are evil. And besides, Hitman is a Hitman, he's an equal opportunity killer. I'm getting really off track now. God Nevermortal, Hitman 2?! Fucking noob... Hitman: Codename 47 is ten times the game Hitman 2 is... Half the time I saw that commercial I thought it was Satan talking to a regular guy, I saw no Jesus... I'm Catholic, and I don't give a fuck what people say about Jesus. www.jesus.com
Guest Jack Tunney Report post Posted December 18, 2002 Ummm,Muslims were offended by a "bad" portrayal of Jesus? That's kind of strange.
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Report post Posted December 18, 2002 I saw the ad, and the guy looked nothing like the traditional representation of Jesus, he didn't even have a beard! It blatantly was meant to be an angel figure, and while I found the advert a bit crap, offended, I wasn't.
Guest Prime Time Andrew Doyle Report post Posted December 18, 2002 You really have to be scrapping the bottom of the barrel to complain about that ad, and I thought it was God that was being portrayed, not Jesus
Guest TheGame2705 Report post Posted December 18, 2002 I thought it was offensive but I'm kinda more offended that Muslims are speaking on behalf of Christians. Oh, the irony.
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2002 Well, now I'm Sikh of it all... Booooo! Were you saying "Boooo" or "Booo-urns"? I was saying "Boooo-urns."
Guest Ace309 Report post Posted December 18, 2002 To be fair, Muslims aren't really speaking on behalf of Christians, other than assuming that they'd find a disrespectful portrayal of Jesus offensive. Jesus is considered a non-divine prophet by the Muslims, on the order of Elijah or Moses, but not to the degree of Muhammed. Prophets' names are marked with the notation "Peace be upon him" or "pbuh" as a way of showing respect. Muslims have every right to be upset by a disrespectful portrayal of Jesus, but, imho, they're just reading way too much in here.
Guest AfricanAmerican Report post Posted December 19, 2002 why are the Muslims mad? If the article is real, then why are they angry about the way "Jesus" is portrayed. The Muslim religion prays to Allah, not Jesus. To me it was symbolic of the PPV. Good vs Evil or whatever. Wow, an ad showing God and the Devil placing bets on a show and football game (Saints). I saw nothing offensive about that especially because the two characters were never shown shaking hands (something WWE probably made sure wouldn't happen). If the two characters had been shown shaken hands, then the complaints of religious groups would make sense.

Guest AfricanAmerican Report post Posted December 19, 2002 must be referring to me... if so, i made my post after reading the first page of replies.. who knew that on the second page would lie an opinion similar to my own.
Guest ReyReyRox00 Report post Posted December 19, 2002 Were you or anyone you know offended? Muslims can be a sensitive bunch, because they're all pretty dedicated. It's almost unheard of to find a Muslim that doesn't pray 5 times a day and obey all the "five pillars" (giving charity, performing the pilgramage to Mecca, etc.), whereas many Christians don't go to Church every week and stuff. However I doubt any I know of would give 2 sh*ts about some WWE commercial. And I haven't seen the commercial, but no I wouldn't be offended, even if it was supposed to be Jesus (which it apparently wasn't). Like I said, I'm atheist. And my girfriend is an atheist Hindu. We're both very anti-religion in general. Anti-organized religion, anyway.

His opinion wasn't similar to your own; his post was clarifying your question. Muslims believe in Jesus (known as Isa), but believe that Muhammed was the Messiah, not Jesus. And they believe that calling Jesus the son of god is heresy. However they are still very respectful of him. As Ace said, Muslims view Jesus like Christians view Moses--a very important precursor to the real Messiah. Though for some reason, when I was little I heard a lot more stories about Abraham (Ibrahim) and Moses (Musa) than Jesus. Not quite sure why.
