Guest EricMM Report post Posted December 18, 2002 I saw it first showing. It was great IMO, although it had seemed to have less major plot points than the first did, I suppose that is to be expected. Anyone else see it?
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Report post Posted December 18, 2002 I saw it. I thought it was great, but a bit longer than it needed to be. Plus, while the comedy stuff was welcome, some of it seemed to happen at unopportune times and ended up hurting the scene a bit.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted December 18, 2002 I possibly could have seen it at the Tuesday Midnight showing, however I don't have to report to work on Friday so I could use the matinee price of $5.75 for LOTR since Friday afternoon or night it is ALL ABOUT......GANGS OF NEW YORK.... Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted December 18, 2002 I saw it at 12:01 am tonight. I really enjoyed it. The audience was really into it, which made it even more enjoyable. I thought it dragged a bit in the middle, but the last hour is just amazing. Also, I was really impressed with Gollum. For a pure CGI character, he had so much life and charisma, it was almost scary. Treebeard was of course, as great as expected. Did anyone catch the Bruce Almighty trailer? I looks like a hoot. The audience roared when they showed Carrey walking down the street singing "I've got the power!".
The Dames 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2002 OH man....I saw the 12:01am showing at 66th street and the movie RULED THE FUCKING EARTH. Gollum's CGI was just scary as it honestly looked like they were interacting with him. I CANT WAIT for Return of the King. I'll be seeing it two more times. Oh, we got AWESOME trailers. T3, X Men 2, Bad Boys 2, Bruce Almighty, a teaser for Dumb and Dumber 2 and a Vin Diesel movie. Dames
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted December 18, 2002 was X-men 2 and T3, teasers, or the 2 minute full trailers?
The Dames 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2002 X-Men 2 and T3 were full trailers. Dames
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted December 18, 2002 was X-men 2 and T3, teasers, or the 2 minute full trailers? X2 full trailer has been online for a week or so. The T3 full trailer went up this afternoon or yesterday afternoon depending on how you view time.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted December 18, 2002 Ok well, I'll look forward to those trailers on Friday~! Thanks for the info....
Guest Mad Dog Report post Posted December 18, 2002 Saw the midnight showing. A very overwhelming movie visually. Made the Episode II battle look like a fucking water fight.
Guest EricMM Report post Posted December 19, 2002 I felt that they should have perhaps included an intermission, but otherwise it was very good.
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted December 19, 2002 X-Men 2 I knew was coming, T3 I was rumored forever so I'm not surprised, but BAD BOYS 2~!? DUMB AND DUMBER 2?!?! I swear, everytime they make sequils like this a little part of myself dies...

Dames Now, I only saw parts of SW: Ep 1, but Gollum (more of his voice than anything) reminded me too much of Jar Jar Binks, although Gollum looked a whole lot better and seemed to be a much better character. The final hour or so made the movie worth it, seeing the battle scene which was way over what I was expecting it to look like. The humor was actually pretty good considering that it broke up the monotony of the movie in a lot of spots. As for the Trailers, I guess I got robbed. We had X Men 2, Bad Boys 2, Bruce Almighty, a teaser for Dumb and Dumber 2 (POS movie that doesn't need to be made) and a Vin Diesel movie, but no T3 trailer. We did get Final Destination 2 (another movie that doesn't need to be made but it at least looks pretty decent) and Finding Nemo (think CGI fish movie from Pixar, which looked good but too kiddie for me.) Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted December 19, 2002 I just got home from seeing it and my heart continues to beat at 100 miles per hour. Best picture I've seen so far this year but that all may change if I see Gangs of New York. Visually, best picture in the history of film.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted December 19, 2002 Just saw it -- loved it. I liked how they did the ending. I'll be curious to see what Return of the King will be like. BTW: Anyone think there will be a "prequel" with the Hobbit?...

BTW: Anyone think there will be a "prequel" with the Hobbit?... I dont think they have the rights to it, I could be wrong, but I think they only got the rights to Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers and Return of the King. Of course, it would be pretty awesome if it happens.
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted December 19, 2002 I'm pretty certain that if New Line hasn't obtainted the rights to The Hobbit then they're working on it as we speak. On a side note, who'd play Bilbo? Of course Ian Holm would be the obvious choice but Bilbo is much younger in it, though I can't picture anybody but Holm playing him as he was cast perfectly. Guest DrTom Report post Posted December 19, 2002 I went to the 12:01 showing, like I did last year for The Fellowship of the Ring. It's worth losing a little sleep and being tired at work the next day to see an excellent film in a great theatre. BTW: Anyone think there will be a "prequel" with the Hobbit?... I think there will be at some point. I read that Ian McKellen has said he would reprise his role as Gandalf only if Peter Jackson directed the movie, though. While I can't envision Jackson not coming aboard, it would be hard to replace McKellen as Gandalf since he's so recognizable in the role now.
